Steuben - Nancy A. (Phelps) Carey, 76, of Starr Hill Road, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2022. Nancy was born on May 25th, 1946, in Utica NY the daughter of Leslie and Helen (Palaski) Phelps. She graduated from Remsen Central School, Class of 1964 and the Utica School of Commerce. She married Watler J. Carey on April, 22, 1972. Nancy is survived by her husband of 50 years and two sons, Walter "Andy" Carey and his wife Melissa and kids (Tuesday, Cheyenne and Logan), and Aaron Carey; grandchildren "love bugs", Fiona, Aileen, and Liam. She also leaves behind a sister, Joan Luppino and her niece, Theresa Loomis and nephew, Todd Smith and many close relatives and friends. Nancy was known for her generosity, kindness, and gift of gab. She enjoyed walks, the outdoors, taking care of her cats, gardening and spoiling her love bugs (grandchildren). A celebration of life in Nancy's honor will be held on Saturday, July 2nd from 4:00 - 6:00 at the Town of Steuben Town Hall.
