Myrtle Joanne Feick (née Robertson), age 75, of Akron went home to be with the Lord on September 8, 2023. Joanne graduated from Ellet High School in 1966 and is retired from the Akron Summit County Library. She enjoyed spending time in nature, especially bird watching. She also enjoyed watching old movies and tv shows, reading the Bible, watching her grandchildren play, and picnics and get-togethers with family. She was a loving, caring, and kind daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandma, aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt who enjoyed spending time with her family. Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, James and Myrtle Robertson, sister Donna Moneypenny, brother William "Bill" Robertson, sister-in-law Denise Robertson, special cousin Sally Briner, and father and mother-in law Clarence "Sam" and Elizabeth Feick. She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, James "Jim" Feick; daughter and son-in-law Emily Feick-Yi and Matthew Yi; son James "Jim" Feick; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Andrew Hoover; sister Beverly Myers; brother Joseph Robertson; 5 grandchildren- Joshua, Emma, Luna, Atlas, and Archer; sisters in-law Betty (David) Sandridge, Nancy Feick, and Patti Feick; brother in-law Gary Feick; nieces Yvonne Carter, Valerie Petersen, Sarah Carpenter, Pam Mellinger, Kim Thomas, Christine Confere, and Katharine Sandridge; nephews Randy McColley and Daniel Robertson; and many loving cousins and great-nieces and nephews. Joanne’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Heather Knoll Retirement Village for their years of care for her. Joanne’s celebration of life ceremony will be held September 15, 2023 at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home in Ellet. Visitation will be from 11:30-12:30. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 followed by additional visitation time until we depart for the cemetery at 1:45. A graveside service will be held at Hillside Memorial Park in Ellet at 2:00. We will cherish all the wonderful memories with Joanne forever. She was a blessing to our family who will be terribly missed and always in our hearts.

Patrick T. Quigley (PT), age 78, passed away November 30, 2023 at Akron City Hospital. Born in Akron, Ohio on March 19, 1945 to Bill and Inez Quigley. Pat grew up in Lakemore, Ohio where he attended Springfield High School, class of 1964. Pat was an Army veteran. He served December 1965 through December 1967, during which he served in the Vietnam War and was awarded the "Purple Heart". He was a lifetime member of the Military Order of Purple Heart and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 35 of Akron Ohio. Pat was employed with Babcock and Wilcox (BWXT) as a machinist for 41 and a half years. He retired July 1, 2009. Pat was known for his love of cars and drag racing, where he made many lifelong friends. He bought his 1970 Plymouth Duster and drove it for one year before racing it for the next 43 years. His car was named the "Dustpan". He loved spending winters in Clearwater, Florida. Pat is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra K. Quigley; and eight nieces and nephews. Pat is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Inez Quigley; brother, Bob Quigley and wife Patricia; and sister, Margaret Smith. Twyla Roman, 82 years, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 1, 2023. She grew up in Brimfield and graduated from Kent State University High School. She married John Roman on May 15, 1960 and they raised their two daughters in Springfield Twp. where she served as a Township Trustee from 1982-1994. In 1995, she was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives where she served as a State Representative from 1995-2002. Twyla was instrumental in getting House Bill 218, the Good Samaritan Bill, passed and signed into law. She wrote the law that deters prisoners from filing frivolous lawsuits, saving Ohio taxpayers over $1 million dollars annually. Twyla was involved with Eagle Forum and the Education Committee. She fought to include abstinence in the Ohio health education curriculum. She fought to improve the quality of life for all Ohioans through even better schools, less crime and lower taxes. Twyla was an active member of The Chapel and after retirement, she and John enjoyed numerous trips and activities with their Prime Time Chapel family. Twyla loved gardening, and was especially proud of her blueberry and raspberry plants. She was raised on a farm and loved animals, especially dogs, horses and pygmy goats. Throughout her life Twyla was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a loyal friend. She loved having her grandkids over for jammie parties when they were young. Twyla was fun-loving and had a great sense of humor. Preceded in death by her parents, Dayton Briner and Zelda Hilty Briner; her beloved husband John, her sister Loretta (Harold) Sandusky and her brother Ralph Briner; Twyla is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Richard) Kayes, and Sharyl (Stacey) Gregerson; grandchildren, John (Bethany Haramis) Kayes, Carrie (Doug) Perkins, Lyndsey (Evan) Sumner, Kayla (Ryan George) Gregerson, and Ally Gregerson; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Emilia, Audrey and Brielle Perkins; sister-in-law, Jane Briner; nieces, Gail (Wayne) Morris, Connie (Art) Huffman, Dixie (Les) Meeker, and Melissa (Joe) Natko; lifelong friends, Maria Chapman and Pauline Fiume. Born in Walkersville, West Virginia, she lived in Akron, Ohio. Carol graduated from Central High School. She was retired from Buchtel High School. Carol was a member of The Chapel for over 70 years. She enjoyed volunteering at The Chapel every Friday, and spending time with friends and family. Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Beasley; and daughter, Jamie Boggs. She is survived by her son, Richard Beasley; Daughter, Sherri Altaf (Atif); grandchildren, Tonya Beasley, Kevin Boggs, Cara Boggs, Tami Fitzpatrick, Ken Boggs; eleven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Wanda Beasley; and nephews, Robert Beasley (Lora) and Thomas Beasley (Tina). In the hearts of all who knew her, Carol Beasley was a beacon of love and warmth, leaving an indelible mark that reflects the depth of affection she shared with family and friends. Carol graced our lives with an abundance of beautiful qualities – her kindness, strength, and unwavering love that illuminated our world. Her legacy is woven with the threads of compassion, wisdom, and a spirit that touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Frederick C. Pero, 91, passed away November 28, 2023. A lifetime resident of Suffield, he graduated from Suffield High School. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp and retired from General Tire and Schumacher Lumber. Fred was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic War Vets. His hobbies included farming, golfing and bowling. He also enjoyed playing cards and polka dancing. He had a quiet sense of humor and was a true gentleman. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey (Horning); son, Douglas; parents; and 8 siblings. Mildred was born June 28, 1935 in Ravenna, OH to the late George and Audree (Nunley) Seibert. Mildred was a Member of Harmony Baptist Church, Tallmadge, OH. Sang in the choir and special duets. Worked at her own election precinct for many years. She loved planting outdoor flowers. John R. Seaburn, 88, passed away on November 4, 2023. Born in Beaver Falls, PA, he was a resident of Akron. He graduated from Beaver Falls High School and completed 2 years at Geneva College in PA. John served 8 years in the Air Force and was employed as a Sports Writer for both the Canton Repository for 10 years and for the Akron Beacon Journal, where he retired with 31 years of service. He enjoyed covering all sporting events: outdoors, pro bowling, college & pro basketball, baseball, football, PGA & LPGA Tours. He covered the Masters, NCAA basketball final four, PBA Championships and many other major events. He won numerous writing awards. He researched and discovered the first black football player from 1904 named Charles Follis in Shelby, OH. In 1967 he was inducted into the Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame after the Stark County Federation of Conservation Clubs chose him as Conservationist of the Year for helping get the organization started. He organized the Summit County Senior Golf Association in 1983. He was inducted into the Summit County Sports Hall of Fame when presented with the Andy Palich Award in 2002, in recognition for outstanding contributions to the betterment of sports in Summit Co. He achieved other accomplishments that are too numerous to mention. Outside of sports he enjoyed reading, fishing and writing his autobiography, "Out of Tank Alley. " John was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Seaburn and Ruth (Anderson) Seaburn; brother, Gerald Seaburn (survived Cathryn). He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Seaburn; children, John L. (Cindy), Jeffrey, Joni, Jim (Darlene) Seaburn; grandchildren, John O. , Todd, Stephen, Justin Seaburn, Jillian (Mike) Zucosky, Allison (John) Pickering, Michelle (Nick) Marcellus; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Jane) Seaburn. Russ (81) passed away November 10th after a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born December 12, 1941 in Weston W. Va. He moved to Akron at age 18, after graduating from Normantown High School in Normantown W. VA. Once in Akron, during a blind date he met the love of his life, Jane Young. Russ retired with 30 yrs. of service from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Russ is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle R Stalnaker Sr and Dora Maxine Skidmore. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jane Stalnaker. Russ is also survived by his daughters Debbie Stalnaker, Sheryl (David) McKissick and Chris (Lee) Davis, 6 grandchildren, Kevin Burket, Lori (Matt) Shafner, Brittany (Bernard) Kincus, Bethany (Braxton) Davis, Kaitlynn (Michael) Davis and Emily Davis, 5 great grandchildren, Oliver, Eliza, Cade, Amelie and Linnea. He is also survived by his sister Catherine (Gordon) Seaman, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ginger and Bill Gallegly, and many nieces and nephews. Russ loved his family more than anything else.
