Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the time of service. Myra Paulina Brown, 78, of Alexandria, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, in her home. Myra enjoyed avid membership in the Cenla Beagle Club. Her involvement with the club included her service as Treasurer and Field Trial Chairman for 20 years. Raising a family was Myra and her husband, Joseph's priority when they were not working at the plumbing business. She always made sure that, by the time you left her home, you were fed and even had leftovers to take home with you. She had a truly giving nature which inspired her to lovingly give, within her means, everyone what they needed. Myra loved to fish and she loved people. Her husband, Joseph, recalls times when Myra would spend hours on the phone, and he jokingly gives thanks for the fact that he was not a jealous husband. Sometimes, Myra would spend hours talking to whomever would bend their ear. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and cherished her. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Joseph M. Brown; two sons, Norman John Buthod, Jr. and his wife, Cindy; Robert Joseph Brown and his wife, Amy; one daughter, Tonya-Louise McKnight; one sister, Betty-Gail Atwell; two brothers, Lee Williams and James Williams; four grandchildren, Layne, Macy, Trayce and Rodney; and a multitude of other extended family members. "Funeral services for Harold Eugene Gauthier will be held at 1:00 p. m. Thursday, November 30, 2023, in the chapel of John Kramer \u0026amp; Son Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Bushnell officiating. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, at the funeral home from 10:00 a. m. until time of service. Harold Eugene Gauthier, 82, of Alexandria, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2023, in Lafayette, LA. Harold was born May 29, 1941, in Alexandria, La. He was the beloved son of Harold Isidore Gauthier and Imogene Watson Gauthier. He graduated from Bolton High School and Louisiana State University. LSU is where he met and married the love of his life, Linda Chaudoir Gauthier. They were married 57 years having two children, Shalane Gauthier St. Pe' and Kurt Eugene Gauthier; and were blessed with four grandchildren, Luke Oliver St. Pe', Elise Margaret St. Pe' and John David St. Pe' and Stephen Tanner Smith. It could easily be seen that his children and grandchildren were the greatest joys of his life. Harold served in the Navy on a destroyer tender and was called up for action during the Bay of Pigs. After his honorable discharge and finishing college, he worked for the Rapides Parish School Board as an accountant before retiring in 1996. It was the last day he ever voluntarily wore a tie, and it gave him time to dedicate himself to his many hobbies and to his first priority, his grandkids. Harold and Linda never missed a ball game, swim meet, track meet or dance recital, even if it meant late nights traveling from Alexandria to Lafayette or beyond. Harold could fix anything with a motor. He loved building and racing vintage sports cars with his son, Kurt, turning over the driving responsibilities to Kurt allowed Harold to be the owner and chief mechanic of the operations. Racing and big game hunting allowed Harold and Linda to travel throughout the United States and to spend quality time with their son Kurt. Fishing, cleaning, cooking and eating freshly caught fish from Nantachie Lake and Kinkaid Lake with Linda, Shalane, and Kurt, was just about as good as it could get. He was a crack shot and an accomplished skeet shooter. Harold loved military history and old movies, especially westerns, and any sport LSU played. He loved taking his grandkids on "breakfast cruises" around Kincaid Lake, playing dominoes and card games with them which he used to teach them math and impart his wisdom. Pallbearers will be Kurt Gauthier, Kenneth St. Pe', Luke St. Pe', John David St. Pe', Abby Blalock, and James Verzwyvelt, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Elise Margaret St. Pe', Stephen Tanner Smith, Charles Chaudoir, Leon Blalock, David Fogleman and Stanley Bohrer. Paul Barnes

Paul Barnes

Age - 69

November 23, 2023

"Paul Emmitt Barnes, of Alexandria, Louisiana passed from this life on November 20, 2023, at Conway Regional Hospital surrounded by family- his wife, Paula, his oldest daughter, Nicol, and his two sisters, Emma and Alice. He was 69 years old. The son of Emmitt and Wilma (Taylor) Barnes was born on September 15, 1954, in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He was the oldest child. Paul married Paula Aymond on March 25, 1989. They combined their children from previous marriages with Paul adopting Paula's two sons. Together they had four children, Nicol, Charlie, Paul D. , and Jessica. He was a spiritual man with strong faith. He prayed in his closet every day and lived his life doing his best to follow the straight and narrow path set before him by the Will of God. Paul was an amazing human being! He was a true "Renaissance Man!!" He was generous to a fault. He was a self-taught carpenter and woodworker. He had the knowledge and skills of an electrician, plumber, gasoline and diesel mechanic, welder, floor coverer, and many others. He could do anything he set his mind to accomplish! He built the house in Conway, Arkansas that his parents lived in from lumber he cut and sawed on his own sawmill. He could have pursued any number of careers but started working in the Louisiana oil business at age 16. He supported his family by becoming a Tugboat Captain at the young age of 24. He briefly owned a Boat Company until the collapse of the industry in the 1980's. He was an expert! He was such a skilled and knowledgeable Captain at navigating the waterways that he was able to bring more barges up and down the river than any other Captain! He ended his career by becoming a consultant for the Corps of Engineers and took many high-level engineers and PhD's on a tour of the river pointing out problems with navigation. And they followed most of his recommendations for improvement! They were impressed by his knowledge and skills. He retired at 50 due to a heart condition. He would have chosen to be a farmer if he could have. He loved working on the land and growing crops and animal husbandry. But his real passion was for music and learning. He was a lifelong learner who taught himself to play the guitar, piano, violin, mandolin, banjo, trumpet, and other instruments. He also taught himself physics, chemistry, Calculus, and computer science skills including Linux operating systems and various programming languages. He tried his whole life to cultivate family values and pass on the "fruits-of-his-labor-and-learning. " He would love it if his children and grandchildren would carry on his legacy! His greatest desire is that all of his knowledge does not end with him. Paul is preceded in death by his father Emmitt Barnes; a granddaughter Jordyn Barnes; and a niece Antonia Nowden. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Paula Aymond Barnes; their children, Nicol Merrifield (Darren), Charlie Barnes (Sandra), Paul D. Barnes and Jessica Barnes; eleven grandchildren who were privileged to have known and be loved by such a wonderful and generous grandfather, Holly Merrifield, Jayce Merrifield, Shane Coggswell, Donovan Coggswell, Angel Barnes, Seth Barnes, Damian Barnes, Caleb McLaughlin, Alayna Barnes, Michael Barnes, and Stephen Barnes; and 2 great grandchildren, Seamus Coggswell and Trinity Coggswell.
