Kevin Works

Kevin Works

Age - 64

November 30, 2023

"WINDHAM - Kevin J. Works, known simply as "Kev" by his family and friends, passed away at his home on November 21, 2023. Kevin was born on December 18, 1958, in Portland to James Works and Letha Wright Works. He attended Windham schools and later also made his home in Windham with the love of his life, Kim, and their three children. Never one to shy away from hard work, Kevin had a long and successful career in driving trucks and construction that he loved, most recently retiring from AH Grover in North Yarmouth after 24 years of dedicated service. To say Kevin was a devoted family man is putting it lightly. Over the years when he wasn't at work, you could almost certainly find him attending basketball, baseball, and soccer games, dance recitals, musicals, band and chorus concerts, art shows, and various school events. When his own children were grown, he continued this tradition with his grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to make sure they knew how proud "Pipi" was of them. Kevin was a certified Disney Adult and spent many magical times at the happiest place on Earth. His most recent trip in 2018 was filled with unforgettable memories, but most notably would be him versus his scooter, his scooter versus the monorail at Magic Kingdom, and of course his scooter freighted down with bags, toys, and kids. In his free time, Kevin was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, and camping. He followed all sports, but above all, he had a need for speed and a closet full of Dale Earnhardt t-shirts to match. He loved watching NASCAR, NHRA, and funny car races. Kevin took great pride in his garage, also known as, "Kev's 4x4 Shop. " There was always a project truck on blocks, classic rock blaring, and a plethora of tools all accounted for down to the last hammer and nail. If you took something or didn't return it, you would know about it. He spent a lot of days tinkering in the 4x4 shop, but most of the time he was usually working on someone's car that needed to be fixed. He was extremely generous with his time and wouldn't hesitate to offer to help. Perhaps the most special thing about Kevin, was his ability to make everyone around him laugh, even in the darkest of times, and the joy he brought to everyone he loved. He was not afraid to be silly, or to make up funny songs or dances. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a "Kevinism" or life lesson ready to share. And everyone had a special nickname that was an enthusiastic greeting every time he saw you: "Mother, Kimberly Ann Inaba, Tew, Al, Leth, Lil, Antonio, Lewinski, Driver, Little A, Little T, Kimby, Pippy's Pretty Princess, Bell, Willie Jay. . . (just to name a few!). He as well would answer to just about anything. . . "Dad, Pipi, Papa, Dumbass, and Babe. " Kevin was a man of large heart, tough spirit, and determination. He is a true example of working hard for your dreams, which will now live on forever in the beautiful home he built over the last two years. The world is a little darker without his smile and laugh, but his legacy will continue to light the way. Kevin is predeceased by his parents, his step-mother Elizabeth Works, his brother William Works, his mother and father-in-law, Wally and Ellie Dahms, his sister-in-law Karen Sue, and his precious pups, Zoe and Raven. Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Kim Works, his daughter Torrey Sweet and her husband Tony, his son, Alan Brousseau-Works and his wife Monica, his daughter, Letha Allen and her husband Dustin, his grandchildren whom he loved more than anything - Ayden, AJ, Kimber, Isobel, and William - his brother Tim Works, his brother-in-law and partner in crime for many years, Kenny Dahms, and his wife Diane Dahms, his brother-in-law Chris Brown, and his nieces, nephews, and their families: Andrea, Michael, Amber, Aimee, Jacob, and Zackerie. "Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. " Rest in peace. We love you and always will love you. An evening of visitation will be held Thursday November 30, from 6:00 - 8:00PM at the Windham Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee 434 River Road, Windham. "Show more

She leaves behind many loved ones, including her father George Kendrick, Jr. , and wife Naomi; stepfather George Barstow, Jr. ; her sisters Darlene Erickson, and Kecia Bickford, and brothers Kurt Kendrick, Kevin Kendrick, and George Barstow III. Karen lives on through her son, Chris Barstow, and daughter in law, Rebecca, granddaughters Alexa and Elizabeth and grandson Jacob; daughter Melissa Laughlin and son in law, Blake; daughter Kayla Norster and son in law, Sean, and granddaughters Josephine and Sadie. Those who knew Karen would know that her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, and listening and dancing to music, especially Bon Jovi or any classic rock. She was always up for a cup of coffee (especially iced) and a good chat with friends, watching movies or playing games like Yahtzee or Scrabble. In her down time, she enjoyed playing solitaire, talking on the phone, finding a good bargain while shopping -- usually spoiling her loved ones (or even her cat) -- and making food for company. While she may not have been great at it, she would always attempt gardening at least once a year, particularly around Memorial Day, to honor those who left before her. She spent years taking care of children in her home, or working in the schools her kids attended, and then worked in various retail roles before her illness took over. It was easy to see that she was happiest being around people, especially those she loved. She will be missed by so many who had the honor to know her, and it is the hope of those that loved her that she may now find peace. Memorial arrangements are coordinated by Dolby, Blais & Segee of Windham. Memorial services will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sedgewood Commons Activity Fund, 22 Northbrook Dr, Falmouth, ME 04105. Donations may be made "In Memory Of Karen Barstow". "Show more

She was born in Yarmouth on June 5, 1935 to Lloyd and Leigh (Wood) Farwell. She graduated from Westbrook High School with the class of 1954. On June 29, 1963 Betty married Walter Young, also of Westbrook. Betty and Walter started their married life in Gorham, and then moved to a newly built cape on Puritan Drive in Westbrook. There, they raised three daughters, Sally, Jean, and Mary Ellen. Betty was a stay-at-home mom to her kids while they were young. She then went to work at Forest Street School in Westbrook as the "Lunch Lady!" After that she found that banking suited her talents so she went to work at Fleet Bank on Main Street in Westbrook. Betty was a tireless volunteer. All of the girls were member of the band so it was natural that she became a member of the Westbrook High School Marching Band Boosters. There she helped raise money for the band members to travel to many places for competition and exhibition. Since Walter was a volunteer firefighter, Betty became a member of the Westbrook Women's Fire Auxiliary. After the girls were grown and in school, Betty became a volunteer with the VNA supporting flu clinics, for the City of Westbrook as an election poll worker, treasurer of the Westbrook/Scarborough Senior Citizens, treasurer of the Westbrook Women's Club and a life member of the Cornerstone Order of Easter Star 193. Betty was a lifelong member of the Westbrook Warren Congregational Church. There her volunteerism continued. Betty served the church as a trustee, member of the diaconate, church choir, Sunday school teacher, and the Women's Fellowship (yeah, probably treasurer). Betty was an integral participant in the church holiday fairs and Saturday Bean Suppers that were held at the church as well as the Thursday meals provided by the church for those in need. One passion Betty had was coordinating and working on funeral receptions held at the church. She made a difference at a time when people needed one less thing to worry about. Betty also spent countless hours knitting hats and caps for the American Cancer Society for children battling cancer. Betty's greatest joy was her grand daughters Nicole, Samantha, and Abbey. October 24, 2023

"James Arthur Brosseau II On October 17th 2023 Jim fulfilled God's mission here on earth and was called to the pearly gates of Heaven. Jim dedicated his life to the Lord 15 months ago and was reconnected with his childhood church, Great Island Church of the Nazaren in Harpswell Maine. As Jim put it he "Lived in the light of the Lord". God showed him how to be a better man and he learned to forgive and love everyone no matter what. Jim had a glow about him and nothing fretted him. He couldn't wait for Sunday's to worship with his wife Heather and his "Dog for God" Charlie. Jim got sober from alcohol December 16, 2018 and his whole life turned around. His life was totally centered around his family and loves being a "Grumps" to his grandchildren. Weekends were for his family and Sunday get togethers were kids running around and Grumps doing tractor rides and the yard is littered with toys. Jim was a great husband, loving, loyal, dedicated and a great provider. Jim and his wife celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary October 12th. He recently asked Heather to renew their vows before God in their church. Jim loved his kids, and the one's without his blood. He treated all his children as if they were his. With his wife Heather they have 7 children, and 8 grandchildren and looked forward to many more. Jim loved his animals, his cat Cassie whom he taught how to do tricks for treats and most recently getting Charlie. Jim didn't want Charlie at first but then called Heather up and said " God told me to take Charlie". Charlie and Jim did everything together, Jim even bringing him in the grocery store, He'd even text asking " what's Charlie doing?" Jim was THE BEST in the flooring industry working for Paul White Tile 41 years. He taught his nephews and many others everything they know. He loved his flooring family and took the young one's on as an uncle or 2nd father to some. He was someone you'd run your plan by first. He was a fixture at Paul White. Some good things Jim did after getting sober were being Santa for the LaDawn Quarter Horses Therapeutic Riding Center. Jim was growing his beard to have a real one this year. Jim wrote a gospel song for our church and it was recorded. He was so excited about getting the word out! Jim recently got patent pending on an invention of the "PRO SEAT" even making them the day before. He taught himself how to sew and was a regular at JoAnn's fabric, WHO WOULD OF THOUGHT? In his last days he just loved life and was excited about everything. He just wanted to be his best self and that he did!
