Mona Zeigler Obituary

Mona E. Zeigler, 66, of Strodes Mills, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, after a courageous year-long battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Born Feb. 15, 1957, in State College, she was the daughter of the late Harry Zeigler and Rose (Breon) Heck. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Chelsea, and a brother, Harry "Chuck" Zeigler Jr. Surviving are: Mona's partner of 32 years, Mark Boreman, of Strodes Mills; children, Jack Wessels and wife, Bailey, of Dry Valley, and Amanda Kane and fiance, Ryan Shade, of Mount Union. Mona's true pride was her grandchildren, who could never do anything wrong, Gracelyn, Avalyn, Kaybrie, Hudson, Rylan and Ryatt, with baby Roman to arrive soon. Also surviving are: siblings, Mike Zeigler and wife, Holly, of Wingate, Joan Williams and husband, Ron, of Lamar, and Joy Zeigler, of Renovo; brother-in-law, Steve Boreman, of Lewistown; sisters-in-law, Sandy Ritter and husband, Bobby, of McClure, and Pam Fortuna and husband, Chip, of Alfarata; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Mona was extremely grateful and fortunate to have Pam and Joan by her side and at her bedside throughout her entire battle. Mona graduated from State College High School in 1975. She worked in retail for over 40 years at Hills, Jamesway and Walmart, and lastly, at Alltrista Plastics, Reedsville, into 2022 until her leukemia illness. She enjoyed flea markets, reading and Hallmark movies, but her greatest joys were events involving the grandkids, and the more of them at one time the better. Her furbaby cats, Leo and Ozzy, were tremendously spoiled by Mona and are already missing her. At Mona's request, there will be no visitation or services at this time. A Celebration of Mona's Life will be held at a later date.
