DATELINE: KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA Moffett Albert Scism Moffett Albert Scism, 83, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on September 10, 2023 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. He was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late Raymond and Mary Hovis Scism and was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Nolan, Bruce, and Paul Scism. Moffett was a longtime member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church and served his country honorably in the US Army. He worked for Eastern Airlines as a baggage handler. Moffett enjoyed farming and was an avid fisherman. He especially loved fishing trip to the coast. Always active, Moffett was a member of the Fairview Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years and a member of White Plains Shine Club for over 30 years. He served as a volunteer firefighter with Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years. Moffett was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather whose guidance, wisdom, and love will never be forgotten by anyone who knew him. She was born in St. Clair County, IL. Jessica was preceded in death by her mother, Kelly Sue Quayle Branham, her paternal grandmother, Bertella Branham, and her maternal Grandfather, Roy Franklin Quayle. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain. Jessica was a graduate of Kings Mountain High School where she was a student athlete and a member of the Homecoming Court for 3 years in a row. She was also a graduate of UNCC where she earned her Bachelors Degree. Jessica worked in the banking industry for many years, however her favorite job was always being a mother. She served as an EMT with Kings Mountain Rescue Squad for several years. In her spare time, Jessica enjoyed crocheting and family camping trips. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, and sister who will be missed greatly by all who knew her. DATELINE: KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA Jackie "Rusty" Lanier, Jr. Jackie Donald "Rusty" Lanier Jr. , 50, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on December 03, 2023 at his home in Kings Mountain, NC. Born in Gaston County, NC, he was the son of Jackie Donald Lanier, Sr. and the late Dixie Hill. He was preceded in death by his son Brent Lanier. Rusty served his country honorably for eight years as an artilleryman in the U. S. Army, after which he worked as a welder for many years. Rusty was a loving father and grandfather, generous with his time and affection. He was a good son and brother who shared a special bond with his siblings, especially his brother Scotty. He loved his fur babies, Zoey and Storm, almost as much as those dogs loved him. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. DATELINE: KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA Daniel Glenn Dixon Daniel Glenn Dixon, 75, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on November 30, 2023 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. He was born in Gaston County, NC, son of the late Delbert Barnett Dixon and Annie Sue Baker Dixon and was preceded in death by a brother, David Dixon. Daniel served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force as a jet engine technician. After his service ended, he was employed by Dallas AirMotive where Daniel continued his career and served as an aviation and training specialist for nearly forty years until his retirement. Daniel enjoyed working closely with the Kings Mountain Little Theater for over 15 years. He especially enjoyed working on the technical side of productions, running sound and lights for many plays. Daniel also served as a past president and on the board of directors for many years. An avid Kings Mountain football fan, he was a member and great supporter of the KMHS Touchdown Club. Daniel was a wonderful husband, brother, uncle and friend to many people. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him, as well as the community of Kings Mountain. DATELINE: KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA Aaron Daniel Evans Aaron Daniel Evans, 22, of Kings Mountain, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday November 26, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends. Aaron was born November 8, 2001, on a rainy Thursday morning in Cleveland County, North Carolina to Charles and Jennifer Evans of Kings Mountain. Aaron was a Kings Mountain High School graduate, class of 2020. He was an old soul, and you could sense that about him if you ever met him or knew him. Even though he fought a hard long battle with brain cancer he did it with tremendous strength, with his family fighting along with him. Aaron was the oldest of four children and he was such a great big brother to his siblings Tavis, Carley and Keira. As his parents we couldn't ask for a better son. Aaron had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. He had a kindness to him that was rare . When you looked at Aaron you knew he knew the Lord, even in his smile. He would give the shirt off his back if he would; no hesitation. He loved his family and friends. He was his mother's world. She never left his side through his whole battle. He enjoyed fishing with his dad and siblings. He also loved the outdoors, video games, Lego's, movies, his animals (especially his dog Diesel), hanging out with friends and traveling. He was big on spending time with his loved ones and making memories. Though Aaron fought so hard he never complained and was not scared. He was a true hero and for that he will greatly be missed.
