Miriam Cristina GentryMiriam Cristina Gentry, 75, of Granite Falls passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Frye Regional Center. She was born on December 15, 1947, in Havana, Cuba to the late Roberto and Maria Cabrera Ibarra Rodriguez. She graduated in 1965 from Miami High School in Miami, Florida, then attended Florida College, receiving a degree in Key Punch and Computer Operations. Miriam worked as Operations Analyst in charge of special projects at Pan American Bank, later becoming part of Bank of America. Miriam was a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church in Hickory. Prior to encountering medical complications, starting in 2001, Miriam enjoyed helping others, assisting coworkers as well as being a hard worker, attending events with family and traveling. She was a devoted wife and mother, and we were all real proud of her, as she was always a fighter no matter how much she went through. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 48 years, Michael Gentry of the home, son Michael, daughter Christina of Conover, brother Robert Rodriguez, his wife Sylvia and their children, Bryan, Alec, Evan and Tess of San Diego, California. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, 3:00 p. m. at Shiloh Lutheran Church, Hickory, with Rev. Carl Jason Sigmon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p. m. prior to the service in the Parish Hall at the church. Bass-Smith Granite in serving the Gentry family.
