"Minuard W. Ramey, age 73, of Laurie, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023, at his home. He was born July 5, 1950, in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of the late Minuard and Georgia (Tomblin) Ramey. He was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Minuard was a volunteer firefighter and paramedic in Wayne County, West Virginia for many years. He enjoyed playing shuffleboard and was known as, "the king of shuffleboard". He overcame alcoholism and became sober which allowed him to enjoy many years of happiness living at the Lake of the Ozarks. He is survived by his wife, Jana; children, Mark Woodford, Angie Kingery and April Ramey; three step-children; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Dorcas Bommarito and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Ramey. A celebration of Minuard's life will be held at 12:00 p. m. , Saturday, October 7th, at the Rocky Top Bar and Grill in Laurie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Jana Ramey to assist her with living expenses. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. "

Annette Elaine Skaar of Laurie, Mo went to be with Our Lord on Tuesday, November 7th 2023. Annette was born in Black River Falls, WI to Alvin and Mary Engum on September 5, 1946. She was married to Richard Allan Skaar on February 18,1967, and they had 2 sons - Jody and Jamie. After settling in Janesville, WI -Annette stayed at home and raised her two sons and then went to work for Community Action as their payroll expert for 15 years. In 2000, Richard and Annette retired to their home in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Annette and Richard spent their retirement not only on the lake, but visiting their 4 Grandchildren, spending time in Florida with her parents or visiting the Skaars in Wisconsin. They traveled all over to attend High school reunions, graduations, weddings and visiting with lifelong friends. When they were not traveling they enjoyed the lake life and Annette spent an enormous amount of time staying in touch with family and friends on the phone. Whether a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt or friend; your life was far richer for having known her. Her blunt honesty, quick wit, unconditional love, huge heart and oh, that wonderful laugh, enriched the lives of all who knew and loved her. Annette is survived by her children, Jody Skaar and wife Tonia of Dewitt, Michigan and Jamie Skaar and wife Heather of Kearney, Missouri; grandchildren, Jacob Skaar, Cade Skaar, Logan Skaar and Hayden Skaar; a sister, Sheila Engum, and niece Deborah Niemeyer and husband Jon as well as numerous lifelong friends. A Celebration of life will be held with her family at a later date.Show more

"MARTHA SMITH Martha Sue Smith, age 92, of Laurie, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri. She was born September 2, 1931 in Fayette, Missouri, a daughter of the late Lance and Ethel (Johnson) Overstreet. On June 19, 1949 in Fayette, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Edwin Darrel Smith. Together they shared fifty-four years of marriage before his passing on January 16, 2004. She was also preceded in death by two children, Teresa Smith and Scott Smith; four brothers, Kenneth Overstreet, Jesse Overstreet, Ruben Overstreet and Lance "Buddy" Overstreet and four sisters, Josephine Johnson, Helen Gibbs, Lucille Allen and Vivian Street. Survivors include her daughter, Ginger Stark Smith and husband Richard; a granddaughter, Lindsey Smith all of Willard, Missouri; three sisters, Mary Rohlfing, Sara Bratton and Betty DeYoung and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Martha and Edwin owned Smith's Mobile Home service and worked the family business with their son, Scott. Martha worked like a man an enjoyed bragging about carrying cement blocks and splitting wood. Even in her 80's, she would drive her tractor to grade the driveway or haul her wood using the tractor bucket. Services will be held at 11:00 a. m. , Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Unity at the Lake, Sunrise Beach, Missouri. Burial will follow in Dale Blair Cemetery, Camdenton, Missouri. "Rosalee Davis Rosalee Davis, age 89, a former resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Laurie Care Center, Laurie, Missouri. Rosalee was born the daughter of Johnny Ray and Mary (Griffin) Rorebeck on December 6, 1933, in Princeton, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Dean Davis on May 2, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2015. They owned and operated Davis Motor Clinic from 1961 until 2008. Prior to moving to Chillicothe in 1969, Rosalee and Kenneth made their home in Chula, Missouri, from 1961 until 1969, from 1955 until 1961 in Norwalk, California, and from 1950 until 1955 in Spickard, Missouri. She loved traveling and RVing, they spent at least 15 winters in Texas. Survivors include one son, Michael Davis (Sherry) of Warsaw, Missouri; one daughter, Cindy Middleton (Dennis) of Cotacachi, Ecuador; one daughter-in-law, Dena Davis of Chillicothe, Missouri; one sister, Lois Jean Wagner of Milan, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Dionne Torrence, Cale Davis, and Addie Yoder; eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; son, Doug Davis; daughter-in-law, Joyce Davis; brothers, Glen William Rorebeck and Orville Wayne Rorebeck. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Laurie Care Center for the loving care provide for their mother. Graveside services will be held at the Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 2:00 p. m.
