Jose M. Garcia (Joe) joined his eternal father on February 13, 2024, at the age of 80 years old.Joe was born on March 3, 1943, to Max and Mary Jo Garcia in Alice, Texas. Joe was a Staff Sargent in The US Marine Corp from 1966-1969 in the 3rd Marine Division and served in The Vietnam War from 1966-1968.He retired from Huntsman Chemical (Texaco Chemical) in 2002 after 33 years. Joe was a devout Catholic and dedicated family man who loved being a grandfather to his grandchildren.Joe is survived by the love of his life Sylvia S. Garcia. They were married for 58 years & 10 months. Along with his 2 most precious children, son Eric (Susan) Garcia and daughter Melanie (Dustin) Montijo and 1 honorary son Johnny Comeaux. Along with 7 grandchildren, Tyler Matt, Alyssa Garcia, Brianna Montijo, Emily Montijo, Gabriel Montijo, Megan (Sam) Baird, and Kayla Sherley and 2 great-grandchildren Ivy Ann Collier and Liam Tubbs. Sister-in-laws Irma McDonald and Janie Garcia. Along with an abundance of nieces and nephews.Joe was predeceased in death by his mother Mary Jo McGraw, his father Noe P. McGraw, his biological father Max Garcia, his brother Feliciano M. Garcia, his grandparents Feliciano Mendez and Temotea Mendez, his mother-in-law Eufemia Hernandez, and many others.Joe instilled and advised on values and ethics to all he met with the belief of putting family and faith 1st. Before he left his earth, he made sure to tell his children and grandchildren to love one another, take care of each other and respect each other and that he would always love them and be watching over them.A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Rodriguez and Rosa Ortiz; his siblings, Hector Guzman, Pedro Guzman, Silvia Mora Guzman and Socorro Barragan. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Emmanuel Munguia, Alyah Rodriguez, Brianna Rodriguez, Alfredo Rodriguez, Josselyn Rodriguez, Arielus Ortiz and Amari Ortiz. Memorial graveside service will be 3:30 pm, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, Texas. Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Born in Beaumont, Texas, on August 20, 1946, she was the daughter of Clinton Courts and Sarah Marie Hebert. She found immense joy in the sport of bowling and dedicated countless hours to perfecting her skills. Her fierce competitiveness and determination led her to become an esteemed member of numerous bowling leagues throughout the years. Mary was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church attending a service every chance she could. In addition to her athletic pursuits and spiritual devotion, Mary had a deep affection for sports. She was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and University of Texas. She loved the Houston Astros until she was not able to watch them on TV, and she became a Texas Rangers fan instead. Mary also embraced the opportunity to support her nieces\u0027 and nephews\u0027 sporting endeavors. She was always there to support her family in any way that she could. She will be deeply missed by her numerous friends, relatives, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clinton Courts and Sarah Marie Hebert; her brother, Frank Courts; her sister, Linda Marie Courts; and her grandparents, Jesse and Sarah Overstreet. She is survived by her sisters, Billie Reed and husband Dan E. Reed, of Mesquite, NV, Carriall Courts Payne and husband Pat of Orangefield, TX, and June Courts of Buna TX. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Heath Pellegrin and wife Jaelyn, Ann Hall and husband Nick, Tayloe McKenna and husband John, Anne Bladen Courts, John Courts and wife Jennie, James Moore, and Jennifer Payne Spell and husband Brent. She is leaving behind numerous great nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends."

Melvin “Ralph” Sessions, 82, of Groves, died Friday, December 29, 2023, at Brookdale Dowlen Oaks. He was born November 19, 1941, in Port Arthur, to Florence Bailey Sessions and Henry Hays Sessions. Ralph was unfailingly proud of his country and his state. His service in the Army Reserve was a point of pride as well, and he only regretted that he was never called to active duty. He loved animals, especially cats, and could often be found with one of his many Skippy cats warming his lap. He always spoke so fondly of his parents and siblings, and missed them so much as they left us over the years. Knowing that they are now reunited gives us such peace and happiness. We couldn’t have asked for a better dad, and will miss him forever and ever, until we meet again. Survivors include his daughters, Jan Sessions Walker and husband, Danny; Kristen Sessions Bares and husband, James; and Amy Sessions Hebert; grandchildren, Ryan Elizondo and wife, Courtney; Brent Walker and fiancée, Marguerite Vaught; Collin Walker; Reid Falcon; Daisy Gillihan and husband, Karl; Carson Bares; Erin Ettenger and husband, Jeffrey; Austin Hebert; Mason Hebert; and Gavin Hebert; great-grandchildren, Olivia Elizondo; Madilyn Elizondo; Avery Gillihan; Wyatt Gillihan; Braylen Ettenger; and Karter Ettenger; siblings, Dora Hurley; Jo Ellen Waddell; and Jerry Pat Sessions and wife, Liz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas, with Remembrances shared by her loved ones at 6:00 p.m. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on August 26, 1949, she was the daughter of Nolan and Lucille Doland. Portia was a long-time member of Wesley Methodist Church in Beaumont, Texas. She had a passion for listening to gospel music with her neighbor Doris, eating delicious southern food cooked by her friend Shirley, spoiling her dog Junior with string cheese, calling all her friends on the phone on a regular basis, and spending lots of time with the children in her life. Portia was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Joe Cox, and her three sons, Lacy Cox, Stacy Cox, and Tracy Cox. She is survived by her dog, Junior Cox, and her many friends, who have grown to love her as family over the years."
