Donald Patrick Bosn was born March 24th, 1942, as the 9th child of 10 children of Simon Bosn and Mary Ratkovec Bosn in O'Neill, Nebraska. Don lost his dad at the age of 13 and his mother passed away in 1977. He attended elementary school and high school at St Mary's Catholic School in O'Neill, NE. Following his graduation from high school in 1960; Don was in the US Air Force at Sheppards Air Force Base in Texas from 1963-1967 where he learned the trade of refrigeration. He returned to Lincoln working first for Morissey Plumbing and Natkin Mechanical from 1975-1986. During this time he learned additional trades in plumbing and HVAC. He eventually obtained a masters heating and a masters plumbing license with a special certification for RSES refrigeration. He also earned a motorcycle and private pilot license in 1970. Don then met Jacqueline Froehlich of Pierce and married at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hadar, NE on August 31st, 1975. The Bosn family became members of St Patrick's Catholic Church in Lincoln in 1979. In the year of 1986, Don and Jackie became entrepreneurs of a family owned and operated Commercial Refrigeration, Plumbing and HVAC business in Lincoln. The couple operated the business while raising four young children. The family grew in 1987 to five children (Reginald, Ryan, Russell, Rochelle and Ross). Don and Jackie continued to operate the current business for 30 years with Don retiring in 2014. He was a member of a Corvette Club and Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Don had a boundless love and pride for his family, Catholic faith and the outdoors. He often said he was rich with family and grandkids. He was in awe of Mother Nature and the universe, while being an active hunter, camper and loved a good road trip. Don had a dry sense of humor and was always smiling. He was curious to learn new things and had a love for history, science and a passion for politics. He engaged his children in thoughtful conversations and instilled these same values with a love for knowledge. He was quiet, but very approachable to all age groups. He was also very disciplined with a great work ethic in his work and personal life. He was very detail oriented whether the project was big or small. He is survived by: his wife of 48 years, Jacqueline Froehlich Bosn, Children Reginald(Carolyn) Bosn, Lincoln; Ryan(Ginger) Bosn, Brighton MI; Russell (Celeste) Bosn; St Paul MN; Rochelle(Andrew)Essay, Lincoln and Ross(Keely) Bosn, Ann Arbor, MI and 19 grandchildren. 2 sisters -Rosland Gallagher and Jean Lucero, both of Colorado and many relatives and friends. Donald was preceded in death by parents Simon and Mary (Ratkovec) Bosn, siblings: Raymond Bosn, George Bosn, Albin Bosn, Dorothy Blomstrom, Margaret Cook, Marian Harty, Teresa Jefferies; and In-laws: Leon and Darlene Froehlich, brother in law- Jim and Rose Froehlich and sister-in-law Joyce Krueger; and nephew Rick Buss. Visitation at St Patrick's Church is Wednesday, December 6, 2023 5-7 p. m. with Rosary at 7 p. m. A Celebration of Life and Funeral Service will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday, December 7, 2023 at St Patrick's Catholic Church at 6111 Morrill Avenue, Lincoln NE Fr Troy Schweiger, pastor officiating. Private family burial services with Air Force Military Honors Guard will be at the Calvary Cemetery In lieu of flowers, Memorials in Don's name may be made to the St Patricks Builders Fund or Saint Vincent de Paul's Society.Show more

March 13, 1942 - November 25,2023 Craig Dietrich, 81, of Lincoln Nebraska, passed away Saturday November 25th, 2023, at the Tabitha Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln Nebraska, surrounded by his wife and one son. Craig was born March 13, 1942, to Henry and Bernice Dietrich in Grand Island Nebraska. He attended Grand Island Senior High School, graduating in 1960. He attended Kearney State College for 3 years, and then entered the US Navy in 1964. He attended Navy class 'A' school to become an IBM Machine Accounting. He served on board the USS Hunley AS31, stationed in Holy Loch Scotland. The Hunley was a supply ship for the SubRon14 Polaris Missile Submarine Fleet. After his honorable discharge in 1967 he moved to Lincoln and was employed by Miller and Moore CPA's and became the Data Processing Manager. Craig married Janet Hann of Grand Island in 1968. In 1977, he started the Data Processing Department for Lincoln Welding Supply Co as their Data Processing Manager. He retired from LINWELD in 2006 as Director of Information Systems after 29 plus years. Craig enjoyed the outdoors, with his wife and two kids, camping, boating, water skiing and snow skiing. He enjoyed athletics like softball, racquetball, golf and coaching youth sports for the YMCA and Trinity Methodist sports teams. He also loved fishing and hunting pheasants and quail. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln. Other activities included his 38-year membership in DPMA (AITP) and was a Past President. He was an active member of Lincoln West Sertoma from 1977 to the present time and served as President several times. Craig and his wife didn't miss many Nebraska home football games and travelled to many away games, including several Bowl games. He is survived by his wife Janet, two sons Aaron Dietrich of Eugene Oregon and Boyd Dietrich of Lincoln Nebraska, one grandson River Dietrich of Eugene Oregon (current active duty US Navy), brother-in-law Keith Lockard of Lincoln Nebraska, niece Anne Lockard of Cleveland, Ohio, nephew Jay Lockard and Denise Lockard and their daughters Hannah Lockard and Rebekah Lockard of Lincoln Nebraska, and many additional loving nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm, on Tuesday December 5th, 2023, at the Wyuka Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3600 O St, Lincoln Nebraska. Craig asked that memorials be given in the form of donation to Lincoln West Sertoma (call Dan Navratil at 402-525-0496) for helping needy children of Lincoln. You can also contact the Pieloch Pet Adoption Center in Lincoln to donate in Craig's honor. Craig's family will accept the donations directly as well.Show more

Adonna (Donna) Fleming died Saturday November 25, 2023 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Adonna grew up in Tucson Arizona and graduated from The University of Arizona with degrees in Journalism, Geology and Library Science. She began her professional career at Washington State University in Pullman WA, from there she moved to Greeley Colorado and the University of Northern Colorado. In 2004 she joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as GIS-Map-Science Librarian, and Head of the Math and Geology Libraries. She was promoted to Full Professor in 2014. Adonna was the principal investigator for several grants, including the 2008 grant for "MAGIC Metadata Triage: Enhancing local government's ability to create and maintain compliant metadata through a MAGIC regional approach", and in 2013 she received the Best Paper Award from Geoscience Information Society for her presentation "Mapping the works of Mari Sandoz. " Her work on the "Ogallala Aquifer in Nebraska: Gray Literature," with Delserone and Nowick, 2012 highlighted the importance of the aquifer in Nebraska. Adonna belonged to several international and national societies and served as president of the GSIS in 2005- 2006. Adonna is survived by her sister, Debi (Dennis) McCarthy of Tucson Arizona, nieces Kelly McCarthy, Tucson, and Tracy (Peter) Kootsikas, Minneapolis, MN and great nephew and nieces, Connor, Zoe and Alexandra. Adonna treasured books and of course rocks, but she really loved dogs, rescuing and adopting several. Remembrances can be made to the Capitol Humane Society of Lincoln. A Celebration of her Life will take place on Wednesday December 13, 2023 at 2:30 PM in the Reception Room at Butherus, Mather and Love, 4040 A Street, Lincoln, NE.Show more

ObituaryMark Walter Poston, 67, of Lincoln, Nebraska, entered eternal rest on November 29, 2023. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 27, 1956. Mark graduated from Villisca (Iowa) High School in 1974. After graduation, Mark joined the US Air Force and received an Associate Degree from the United States Air Force Community College/Colorado Springs, CO and Rio Salado Community College/Glendale, AZ. Mark was a Munitions Maintenance Specialist with the United States Air Force from 1974 - 1989. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant (6) and was Honorably Discharged from the U. S. Air Force in 1989. Upon leaving the Air Force, Mark worked for McLane Company (Sunwest Division) in Goodyear, AZ and later moved back to Iowa, working for TRACO (Three Rivers Aluminum Company) in Red Oak, IA. When Mark moved to Lincoln in 2004, he worked for Auto Body Supply, Inc. and later became a Special Education Para-Professional for Lincoln Public Schools prior to his retirement. Mark was an active member of George Washington Lodge No. 250 serving as Worshipful Master in 2014 and currently serving as the Lodge Secretary; he was a dual member of North Star Lodge No. 227. He was currently serving as President of the Havelock Masonic Temple Association. Mark was also a member of Sesostris Shrine. He was a Past Patron of Martha Washington Chapter No. 153 and was currently serving as their Associate Patron. Mark served as Associate Bethel Guardian to Bethel #62, Job's Daughters International. Mark became a member of the Lincoln Cornhusker Kiwanis Club in 2012 and loved working on their many civic projects but especially enjoyed calling the Bingo Games at the Lancaster County Fair. He was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church where he served as one of the Scripture Readers. Mark was a member of the Villisca, IA Alumni Association and was currently helping to prepare for his 50th class reunion. He was also a member of the Lincoln-Lancaster Genealogical Society and had a great passion for researching and keeping the Poston family history. Mark's most important achievement was being a loving and supportive partner to Jeanne, a father and grandfather-figure to the children and grandchildren they shared and a special brother, nephew and cousin to the Poston Family. Mark is survived by fiancee Jeanne Krenk; brothers Russell (D'Ann) Poston of Bedford, IA; Darin (LeAnn) Poston of Wahoo, NE; sister Sara Eckhoff of Sioux City, IA; children that had a special relationship with Mark: Laura (Casey) Chytka of Omaha, NE; James "J. R. " (Lindsey) Krenk of Bennington, NE; grandchildren that had a special relationship with Mark: Tyler Chytka of Omaha, NE; Makenzie and Alex Krenk of Bennington, NE; aunts Mary Lynn Poston of Villisca, IA and Sara Guthrie of Strattanville, PA; nephews Paul and Dalton Poston of Bedford, IA; cousins and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth (Rankin) Poston, and Uncle, Roger Poston. A visitation will be held 6-8 pm, Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Butherus, Maser, and Love Funeral Home in Lincoln, Nebraska. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 am, Monday, December 4, 2023, at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Burial with Military Honors will be held at 12:30 pm at Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska. The family is directing memorials to the Villisca (IA) Fire Department, Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children (Fremont, NE) and Lakeview United Methodist Church.Show more
