Michelle Kathleen Habib (Gilbert) passed away in her home on September 8, 2023. She was with those she loved when she passed. Michelle and her husband Joe have two children, Joey and Alexandra, her family grew bigger with the additions Arrin Habib and Benny Liu, both of which she loved as intensely as her own. Her children meant the world to her. In 2022, Michelle became a Nonie with the birth of Joey and Arrin's baby, Hallie Madison Habib. Nonie was her most cherished role in life and nothing brought her more joy than being with her children and cuddling her bambolina. Michelle was the family anchor being the source of strength and love for her husband and children, as well her beloved siblings, Bryant Gilbert and Lisa Gilbert-Ahee, and her mother Elaine K Gilbert. Beyond being a dedicated and amazing Nonie and Mom, she was a devoted wife, sister, daughter, friend, and confidant. Michelle made everyone that entered her orbit feel intense love and protection. She always put the needs of others before herself. Whether it was cooking the most delicious meal for her loved ones, taking care of her mother and siblings, or talking with friends, she always made sure you felt her enormous love that she had for you. Michelle loved life and she embraced it fully. She knew how to have fun and bring others along in her joy with her contagious laugh. Her favorite hobbies included reading, cooking, exercising with friends, and trying out new recipes and new foods. She was, as her dad would say, a country girl. She developed a love of country music after proclaiming a dislike for it, whiskey, and dreamed of having a pickup truck. She loved swimming in Lake Huron and going for beach walks to find shells and sand glass with family. She was a damn good cook and baker. You could taste the love in every single bite. Michelle lives on with the traditions, memories, and stories she created for all of us. Per Michelle's wishes, there are no services planned and certainly no pomp and circumstance. A celebration of life will occur with details to be determined.
