Saugerties, NY

Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of Michael J. Sawick, 64 of Saugerties, NY. He passed away while in the comforting presence of his loving family Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Troy, New York on November 25th, 1958, a son of the late Peter J. Sawick and Charlotte (Clickner) Lynch, and grew up in Kingston where he attended school. With a love of the outdoors, Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing and sharing his passion with his children, nephews, nieces and many others. One of his favorite moments was taking his dream trip to Alaska to visit his son Nick. He was a lifetime member of the Ruby Rod and Gun Club, where he and his wife Patty had many good friends who will also miss him dearly. Mike's love for his family was strong and one of his proudest moments was being able to walk his daughter Marissa down the aisle at her wedding. Not even cancer could take that away from him. Mike was the life of the party and anyone around him could feel the love and laughter that surrounded him. He has touched so many lives and even as we celebrate him we know that our lives will be a little duller without him. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia L. (Schabot} Sawick, his son Nicholas Sawick of Alaska, his daughter Marissa Sawick and her wife Michelle Pereira of Kingston, siblings, Richard Sawick of Florida, Deborah (Robert} Andriana of Schenectady, Edward (Debra} Sawick of Kingston, Robert (Robert} Sawick of Florida, stepfather, Jerry Lynch of Florida, and sister-in-law, Camilla Sawick of Florida. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He will also be truly missed by his brothers and sisters in law. The family will receive friends at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by a service at 3:00 pm officiated by Rev.
