Harry H. Horst, age 82, of Garden City, SD, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Prairie Lakes Hospital of Watertown, SD. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning, November 11, 2023, from 10-12 noon at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm at the Furness Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Salmonson officiating. Burial will follow at Garden City Cemetery of rural Garden City. **With construction in the city of Clark, please use North Cloud or North Smith Street to get to 4th Avenue and the Furness Funeral Home. Also, be aware of a section of sidewalk missing with the water line repairs that were recently done in town. Thanks for your understanding!Harry was born on March 1, 1941, to parents Robert and Ottilia (Heiser) Horst in Selby, SD. He grew up and attended school through eighth grade in Selby. On January 16, 1971, he married Donna C. Stacey in Ipswich, SD. They moved to Timber Lake, then to Wasta and then to Rapid City. Harry worked at Douglas School District at Ellsworth Air Force Base as a custodian. They moved to Garden City in 2003. Donna died in 2013. He worked at various jobs throughout his life including working on highline poles, as a custodian, as a road worker for the Clark County Highway Department, and as an assistant at the Garden City Elevator. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with his special companion, his dog, Angel. Harry was a kind man with a big heart. Harry is survived by his children, Melody (Robert) Kimbrough of Gillette, WY, Robert (Amanda) Horst of Sioux Falls, and Michael (Janice) Horst of Garden City, siblings, Terry, Shirley and Sally, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his dog, Angel. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna, and siblings, Larry, Elmer and Darlene. Furness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
