Michael E. Maag, 74, a resident of Davenport, Iowa passed away at his home on Saturday, August 12, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family after an extended illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A. M. on Friday, August 18, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Davenport where he was a member. Entombment will follow at Davenport Memorial Park where military honors will be accorded. Visitation will be from 4:00 P. M. to 7:00 P. M. on Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf and from 9:00 A. M. to 10:00 A. M. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or the Congregation of the Humility of Mary. Mike was born on June 25, 1949, in Davenport, the son of Joseph A. "Tony" and Clara (Musal) Maag Sr. and was a 1967 graduate of Bettendorf High School. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during the Viet Nam Conflict. When his brother, Joe was killed in Viet Nam, Mike escorted his body home to Iowa. On April 17, 1971, he was united in marriage to Linda G. McCandless at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bettendorf. He was employed as a Lieutenant with the East Moline Correctional Center, retiring after over 20 years of service. In earlier years, he was a police officer in LeClaire, Iowa where he also served as Chief of Police. Mike graduated from the Iowa Police Academy and from the Illinois Department of Corrections Academy. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, bowling with the Saturday Night Misfits for 20 years and was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda; his daughters, Kelly (Dustin) Hull of Muir, Pennsylvania, and Jamie (Christopher Wyjack) Baker of Davenport; his grandchildren, Haley (Hunter) Pauley, Hanah (Xavier Scritchfield) Fuessel, Brooke (Drake Williamson) Baker and Rylan Baker; his great-grandson, Leo Michael Scritchfield; and his brothers, Kenneth (Alice) Maag of Rantoul, Illinois, and Jay Maag of Bettendorf. He was preceded in death by his brother, Pfc. Joseph A. Maag Jr. , his sister, Sandra Trulock; and his parents, Tony and Clara Maag.

It is with great sorrow the family of Helen B. Woodward announce her passing on November 28, 2023, at the age of 80. She resided at the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Illinois. She was born February 15, 1943, in Davenport, Iowa, to Robert M. and Tessie R. Alexander. She married Robert Smith, Sr. then later married James Woodward. She is survived by four daughters, Tammy Woodward of Watertown, WI, Lisa (Eric) Arnold of Goodhope, IL Mary (Kenny) Bartell of Colchester, IL, and Crystal (Jeff) Evans of Peoria, IL; one son, Robert Smith, Jr. of Peoria, IL; eight grandchildren, Shanee (Chris) Teel, Michael (Shelley) Smith, Cory (Megan) Belles, Tevin Smith, Kelsey (Ben) Broadhead, Samantha Taylor, Shante' (Ryker) Taylor, and Becca Alexander; along with 13 great grandchildren, Marlee, Rylee and Emerson Teel, Claira, Dakota and Copeland Smith, Kyler and McKenna Belles, Austin Smith, Finley and Adley Broadhead, and River and Christen Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Fredrick Alexander and a great granddaughter, Alexis Teel. Helen enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking, word puzzles, scrapbooking, and attending church. The greatest love of her life was time spent with her family, especially the babies. She had a gentle soul and leaves behind many broken hearts. Harley Schweigert, 83, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, November 23, 2023, in his home. Services are 10:30 a. m. Thursday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial with military honors presented by Moline American Legion Post #246 will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is one hour before the service. Memorials may be made to the family. Harley Henry Schweigert was born October 3, 1940, in Mobridge, South Dakota, to Christian Henry and Irene Alma (Meish) Schweigert. He served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1961. He married Theresa Noyes in 1963, in Seattle, Washington. He married Mary Kuehl in 1977, in Davenport. She died May 10, 2020. Professionally, Harley dedicated years of hard work as a machinist, contributing his skills to esteemed companies such as Production Tool, Oscar Meyer, and French and Hecht. His commitment and expertise left a lasting impact on those he worked with. Harley was not only a devoted family man but also a proud Navy veteran, holding membership in the VFW in Oklahoma. He had a zest for life, finding joy in the simple pleasures. Harley had a passion for exploring flea markets and trying his luck at the casino. His eyes would light up as he recounted tales of his motorcycle rides from his younger days and shared stories of his cherished car collection. Above all, Harley cherished his time with family, especially with his children and grandchildren. He was a social butterfly, known for his infectious laughter and a repertoire of jokes and stories that could brighten any room. His warm spirit and love for life will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Lee D Richardson, a professional records manager who dedicated his life to his career and made significant contributions to the nuclear power industry, passed away on November 24, 2023, at the Kahl Home in Davenport, Iowa. He was born on February 12, 1945, in Moline, Illinois the son of Rolland J. and Elsie A. (Sturdevant) Richardson. Lee's career began in 1971 when he joined Commonwealth Edison at the Cordova Nuclear Power Station. From there, he embarked on a journey as a consultant to the nuclear power industry, working for several companies and undertaking assignments across the United States, Mexico, and South Africa. Lee's expertise was further recognized when he was appointed as a consultant for AT&T in Saudi Arabia. In 2008, he retired from Johnson and Johnson as Corporate Records Manager for the Global Pharmaceutical Group. Lee's passion for education led him to pursue academics at Orion High School where he graduated in 1963. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree from Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois in 1969. Continuing his quest for knowledge, Lee obtained a Master of Science degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1994. Lee had married Joan Bystry of Kewanee, IL in 1969 to which two children Kelly and Douglas were born. He later married Mary Ern of Moline, IL in 1977, and then married Ruth Stigling of Capetown, South Africa to which Rainer was born. Beyond his professional pursuits, Lee had a profound love for music and was an accomplished guitar player and songwriter. Additionally, Lee was an avid Corvette enthusiast and found joy in participating in NCRS and Bloomington Gold competitions. Lee is survived by his sister Ruth Burnett of Springdale, Arkansas; sister Ann (Harold) Hollon of Springfield, Missouri; brother Ned (Kay) Richardson of Galva; brother Paul Richardson of Auburn, Indiana; son Douglas (Anja) of LasVegas, NV; daughter Kelly of Los Angeles, California, son Rainer of Capetown, South Africa numerous grandchildren great grandchildren and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his parents Rolland and Elsie Richardson. A visitation will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, allowing friends and loved ones to pay their respects. at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services in Geneseo, Illinois on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coal Valley on Thursday, November 30, 2023, starting at 11:00 AM. Pastor David Anderson will officiate. This service will provide an opportunity for everyone to gather and commemorate Lee's life. Immediately after the memorial service, a Celebration of Life Luncheon will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church. This gathering aims to honor the remarkable life that Lee lived and offer moments of love, laughter, and shared memories.
