Michael G. Lowe, 48, of Arnold, PA passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023. Born September 2nd, 1975, in New Kensington, PA to the late Glenn and Burdetta Lowe. Michael, graduate of The Greater Works Christian High School located in Monroeville, PA. He learned the trade of auto repair under the tutelage of his father, owner and operator of New Kensington staple Glen's Thrifty Auto located on 5th Ave in New Ken. Michael later worked for Wholesale Transmission, in New Kensington, PA. Big Mike (as affectionately known) was preceded in death first by his parents, and later by his beloved son Shaquelle N. Lowe. Michael "Big Mike" is survived by his sisters, Lisa and Michele Lowe; niece, Kyana M Lowe; nephew, Christopher J Lowe; great-nephew, Nehemiah M Lowe; great-niece, MacKenzie Lowe; and include numerous extended family and dear friends. Jacqueline (Jacky) Marie VanHorne, 75, of Arnold, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at her home. A daughter of the late Jack Mondale and Catherine (Mautino) Mondale, she was born on October 2, 1948, in New Kensington. She was the beloved wife of the late Terry VanHorne. Jacky was a 1966 graduate of Arnold High School. She was an active member of Mount Saint Peter Catholic Church. As a role model to her grandchildren, Jacky was the ultimate gourmet chef and would bring her family and friends to the heart of the kitchen with her passion for cooking. She loved taking vacations with her family and enjoyed playing card games. She is survived by her loving son, Jason, and daughter-in-law, Becky Girardi of Prosper, TX; two granddaughters, Gianna and Gemma Girardi; a sister, Kathleen (Roger) Diffendarfer of Denver, North Carolina; and brother, Keith (Lisa) Mondale of Denver, North Carolina. She will also be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dario Thomas Massarelli of Erie, formerly of Arnold, died peacefully on September 5th at the age of 92. Dario is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years Gloria (Cecchetti) Massarelli, his daughter Linda Van Gorder and her husband Jan, four grandchildren (Reid Van Gorder and wife Andi, Evan Van Gorder and wife Karen, Drew Van Gorder and wife Jenna, and Tess Van Gorder), and five great-grandsons. He was predeceased by his brothers Leo and Nello Massarelli and his sisters Mary Milisits and Ida Ostrovecky, and is survived by his sister Christina Krynicki and brother Dennis Massarelli, as well as many nieces and nephews. Son of the late Olderico and Pierina (Annuli) Massarelli, Dario was born and raised in Arnold, where he lived most of his life. He worked as a stone mason and builder, a maintenance supervisor for the Westmoreland Housing Authority, and a volunteer firefighter for the Arnold Fire Department and he served 2 years in the Army during the Korean Conflict with an Honorable Discharge. Dario loved music, especially Italian opera, was always whistling while he worked, and lent his voice to the choir at Mount Saint Peter Catholic Church. In his free time, he loved bowling, golfing, cheering for the Steelers, and firing his homemade potato cannon from the shoreline of Lake Erie; an increase in UAP sightings by Canadian authorities was ruled "coincidental. " With infectious good humor, Dario brought joy to all who knew him, whether he was playing Santa Claus for the neighborhood or sharing a bottle of his homemade wine with friends and family. Lenee Bullick, 67, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on July 20, 2023. She was born on June 11, 1956 in New Kensington to the late Andrew and Doris (Armour) Pleva, Sr. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John J. "Buddy" Bullick who passed away in 2021, sister Michelle Salati, and niece Andrea Baker. Lenee, beloved family matriarch, loved her family above everything else. Anyone who knew her would recognize her as a warm-hearted, selfless person who was endlessly devoted to her family. She was the family caregiver, feeding everyone at the table, nursing those who were sick, lending a compassionate ear when someone needed to talk and generously giving to those in need. She loved to cook, shop, reminisce with friends and family and creating ceramic heirlooms. When Nana called, you always answered because you wanted to hear what she had to say, if not just to hear her voice. She will be dearly missed by all. Lenee is survived by her 2 daughters, Lindsay (Kevin) Krajca of Plum and Lisa Bullick of Gibsonia, brother Andrew Pleva, sister Sherrie (Gary) Hite, granddaughter Adeline Bullick, nephew Aiden Griffith, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. James Francis Kregiel, 70 of East McKeesport, formerly of Arnold, Pa died Monday June 19, 2023 in the Veterans Administration Hospital, H. J. Heinz Campus. He was born April 26, 1953 in New Kensington, Pa. a son of the late Carl and Dorothy Ostrowski Kregiel. Jim was a life long supporter of public schools for trade and industrial education. He graduated from the Career Technology Center in New Kensington-Arnold District. Before graduating, he was elected a National Vice President of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, which was later to become SKILLSUSA. He was recognized and admired on the national and state level for his professional work ethic and competence in setting up multiple skill competitions at the national level for 40 years. He was the first alumni member of the organization to receive its Honorary Life Membership. While employed he broadened his leadership skills expertise in Conference Management, even performing critical details required for a visit by President Ronald Reagan. Throughout his career he was admired and respected by thousands of students, educators, business and labor leaders across America. He truly made a positive impact on the future of America's skilled workerforce. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the East McKeesport VFW as well as a member of the Westmoreland County Beekeepers. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Boland Kregiel; his daughter, Christine Lynn Kregiel of East McKeesport; his grandson who he greatly enjoyed spending time with, Odin James; three brothers, Anthony Kregiel of South Carolina, Carl Kregiel ,Jr. and his wife Diana of Virginia and Marion Kregiel and his wife Annette of Dormont; two sisters, Barbara Fisher of Cheswick and Margaret Yucas and her husband Christopher of Leechburg. Dylan Corey, 31, of Lower Burrell, was taken from his loving family Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, as a result of a tragic accident in Somerset County. An experienced lineman and crew foreman for Duda Cable Construction, he was working on a project in the area. In addition to his parents, Sam and Cynthia (Angelisanti) Corey, and a brother, Eric, of Lower Burrell, Dylan is survived by his soulmate, Casey Shean; and daughters, Penelope Marie and Evelyn Rachel. Dylan lived for his three girls. He and Casey constantly planned big and little adventures. When they weren't at the local playground or pool, they loved to fish and hunt for mushrooms or "geo caching. " They made a great team, parenting their girls through academics and life skills. All four loved a good steak and Dylan was quite the "jerky connoisseur. " Dylan was a Burrell wrestler for 10 years, with state medals in Folkstyle, Freestyle, Greco Roman and a part of Burrell's WPIAL and Pennsylvania State Championship teams. Dylan was sure to pass along his "Corey" sense of humor with a healthy dose of friendly sarcasm all the way down to his five-year old. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m.
