Michael H Longo, 70, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday Oct 6, 2023, in the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH Mike was born Aug 29, 1953, in Steubenville, son of the late Hugh and Julieann (Bright) Longo Mike was retired from the First Energy W H Sammis Plant, in Stratton, OH, having worked in the Electrical Shop He was a 1972 graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School and attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA Mike loved playing his guitar He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and loved his nieces and nephews Surviving is his, wife Nancy E (West) Longo, whom he married Sept 23, 1985; two brothers, David (Anne) Longo of Milan, OH, James (Debbie) Longo of Cranberry, PA; several nieces and nephews and his loving extended family Visitation will be held Monday Oct 9 from 5 pm to 8 pm and again on Tuesday from 10 am to 11 am at the J E Foster Funeral Homes in Toronto A committal service will follow Tuesday at the Chapel at Union Cemetery in Steubenville with Rev Kevin Rinkes Memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation

Jay S. Smith, 94, of Toronto, OH, passed away Sunday Dec. 3, 2023, in the Mill Creek Nursing & Rehab in Winston-Salem, NC. Jay was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Toronto, son of the late Walter and Ruth (Snowden) Smith. Jay retired from the Toronto City School District, where he worked in the Custodial and Maintenance Dept. His memberships include: the St. Francis R. C. Church in Toronto, Toronto Sunrise Sr. Citizens, and Dyer Country Club. Jay was also a former Councilman for the City of Toronto. Jay was a former little league coach, and a tennis and golf coach at Toronto High School. In Jay's younger years, he was an avid baseball player for the Toronto Athletics, and he loved to play tennis and golf. In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica T. 'Bunj' (Banik) Smith, brother, Ron Smith, twin brothers, Merle and Earl Smith and brother-in-law, John McCart. Surviving is his son, Jay Walter (Rene Cortez) Smith of Toronto; daughter, Joni (Tim) Chilson of Pfafftown, NC; twin sisters, Carolyn McCart of Bay Village, OH, and Marilyn (Earl) Glasure of Toronto; three grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Mantica, Chase and Oliva Chilson, and three great-grandsons, Tallon, Ashton and Remington Mantica. Visitation will be held Sunday Dec. 10, 2023, from 1 pm to 4 pm (Vigil Service at 12:45 pm) at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Additional visitation will take place Monday at St. Francis Church from 10 am to 11 am. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will follow at 11 am with Father Thomas Vennitti and burial will follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery. Giuseppe Joseph Restifo, 92 of Toronto, OH, went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2023, at his home with his family by his side. Joseph was born in Taormina, Sicily, Italy on March 13, 1931. He was the son of Vincenzo and Maria (Butto) Restifo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Nino, sister, Lina, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Domenick & Christina (Pizzo) Orlando (who he was extremely close with), and his twin granddaughters, Natalie & Nicole Restifo. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Ann Rose (Orlando) Restifo, son, James (Cathy) of Boardman, son, Vincent & daughter Marie (Denny) his caregivers with whom he resided; sisters, Giavonna, Bici` and Vittoria (Carmello) of Giardini, Sicily; grandchildren, Adam (Sheila) Restifo of Boardman & Vanessa (Jake Inman) Restifo of Austin, TX, who they lovingly called Papa Joe; two great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. Joseph was enlisted in the Italian Army in the Alpine Troops (their elite corp). He was promoted to the rank of sergeant where he served as a radio telegraphy specialist. Joseph married his wife, Ann, in Sept. 1954 in Taormina, Sicily. He then came to the United States and worked very hard to learn English and become an American Citizen. He was very conscientious, trustworthy, dependable, and a hard worker at all his endeavors. He started out working at Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. in Steubenville and then Rogers Jewelry where he was their master watchmaker for 38 years. Then he worked with his son, Vincent at Restifo's Jewelry Lab in downtown Steubenville. He loved what he did and loved the daily challenge of repairing watches. He never wanted to quit. He loved talking with and forming friendships with all his customers who he remembered every one of them through the years. He graduated from the American Watchmakers Institute. He was certified in diamontology and a graduate of the Bulova Quartz Institute, where he obtained his Quartz certification. Joseph was a ham radio operator with an extra class license. He was a 25 -year member of SWARC club where he served as the weather net control agent. Joseph was also a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto and the ARRL. WB8NZN now goes silent key. Joseph was a very loving, trustworthy, dependable, caring, loyal husband and father. His family has always and will always be so proud of him. There will be no showing as per his request. Private entombment will take place at Fort Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville. Arrangements for Joseph have been entrusted to the J. E. Annabelle "Annie" Thompson, age 82 of Township Road 371Toronto passed away Friday October 20, 2023 at her home surrounded by her best friend and family. She was born July 8, 1941 in Toronto the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Agnes (Bletch) Thompson. Annie was a great lover of her beloved pets and dedicated her life of caring and serving others. She enjoyed people and never met a stranger and Annie's hobby and favorite past time was playing the slot machines wherever she could play them. Annie was a member of the Bell Chapel United Methodist Church; was a 1959 graduate of Jefferson Union High School and was a great lover of her pets. She retired as a nurse's aide having been employed by both Trinity Medical Center East and West in Steubenville after 52 years of service In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by brothers, Jack and Tom Thompson and sister, Alice Holsinger; nieces, Brenda and Kathy and nephews Bobby and Tim. Annie is survived by her best friend for 48 years, Cherrie Kough and her beloved dog, Heidi; nieces and nephews, Sandy Holsinger, Carolyn (Brian) Goad, Jackie (Vicki) Thompson, Cheryl Forester, Lee Thompson, Lynette Kindesvatteer, Janie Thompson; special friend, Linda (David) Smith and many friends of the Kough family and her Trinity East and West family. Visitation hours for Annie will be held 2 to 4 and 6 - 8 Friday, October 27th at the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto. A celebration service of Annie's life will be held 11am Saturday, October 28th at the funeral home with the Reverend David Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Center Chapel Cemetery.
