Todd East

Age - 61

December 6, 2023

Todd East passed away on December 1, 2023, in Beaumont, Texas surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on January 13, 1962, in Anahuac, Texas to Mazie and Donald East. Todd was a career history teacher and coach beginning in 1985 in Groveton, Texas. It was there where he married the love of his life, Brenda Golding East in 1987, and where their first born, Keaton, arrived in 1991. From there the family moved to High Island, Texas where he continued his coaching and teaching and where they welcomed their second child, Mattie, in 1994. In 1995, they made their way back home to Winnie, and Todd settled in at East Chambers High School teaching and coaching for twenty-five more years before retiring in 2020. Left to cherish his memory are countless friends and a loving and devoted family; his wife, Brenda; daughter, Keaton Ballard and son-in-law, Aaron Ballard; grandchildren, Blaize and Goldie; daughter, Mattie and grandchildren, Paxton and Sawyer. He is also survived by his parents, Mazie and Donald East and siblings, Brian East, Daphne Matthews, and Nicole Touchet, along with their families. Also, his mother-in-law, Beth Golding and sisters-in-law, Lynda Hoffpauir and Gena Campbell, along with their families. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Blaize and Matile Guidry and Walter and Marie East, along with step grandmother, Anite East and father-in-law, Eddie Golding. Todd loved life, his family, his home, all of the many colleagues from the three districts where he worked, and the hundreds of former students he mentored, taught, and coached. His extended family was large and there are simply too many to name who meant so much to him. His life was full and complete. Todd enjoyed hosting countless guests in the outdoor man-cave Brenda and he built so they could entertain the large circle of friends and family who surrounded them on a regular basis. He had an exceptional green thumb and kept a beautifully landscaped yard year round. Being with family and friends visiting in his backyard is what he enjoyed most in life. Coach East was the model husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend anyone could aspire to be like. He was the best "Bop" to his beautiful grandchildren, and they were with him most of the time outside in that yard he built for them. There are so many left to cherish and celebrate his life that his legacy will endure for generations to come. He will be so deeply missed, and what little comfort we can find is that his suffering is over and he is now in Heaven looking out for those precious babies. The family wants all of you to know we shall never forget how you "Huddled Up For Coach East" just one month ago. He could feel the outpouring of love from his hospital bed in Houston, and it gave him the strength he needed to fight. He gave it his all for his friends and his family until the very end. A gathering of Coach East's family and friends will begin at 4:00 p. m. , with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p. m. , Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Broussard's, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.
