Michael L "Mike" Gump, age 48, son of Martin and Mary Gump died peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer He was born on October 28, 1974, in Marion, Indiana He met his wife, Robin, while working at Bradner Village Healthcare Center Robin had to ask him out because he wouldn't He always said she was the best thing to happen to him He took her to play pool and to Taco Bell for their first date because, as he said, he didn't want to set the bar too high! They were together for 29 years and were married for 23 of those They were married on June 10, 2000 Mike was a graduate of Marion High School and most recently received his journeyman card from the I B E W Local #873 He previously worked for Bradner Village Healthcare Center, Moorehead Technologies, Digital Communications, and most recently at Huston Electric He enjoyed working in the yard, camping, boating, and fishing He loved I U basketball, Notre Dame football, and was a die-hard Cincinnati Bengals fan; but his favorite time was time spent with his granddaughter, "Charlie Beth" Mike was loved and admired by many Most would say that God broke the mold with him He was honest, hard-working, and loyal Most of all he loved his family Left to carry on Mike's love and loyalty are his wife of 23 years, Robin; his children, Kala Simmons, Austin Aughinbaugh, and Madison (Wyatt) Gump; and grandchildren, Darian, Kiara, Aniyah and Pappy's girl, Charlotte Elizabeth He is also survived by the best sister and brother-in-law ever, Ken (Sherri) Hinshaw and Craig (Casey) Newby; nephews, Jared (Sarah) Burnett, Jason Burnett, Kris Hansford, and Trey and Jay Jones; nieces, Ashleigh Hansford and Kaiyah Jones; sister, Angela Gump; the best friend that will forever be his brother, Jason (Julie) Beemer; his loyal companions, Bently and Luci; and his neighborhood friendly cat, Opie His second family, Dr Rathi Mahendran and the best nurses and staff at the Cancer Center Special thanks to Dr Saad Ibrahim, Cancer Services and Stillwater Hospice He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mary Gump and father-in-law, Bergen Cornett Mike would like for everyone to stay kind and "Go Bengals, Who Dey!" Geraldine C. NeiderhiserDecember 28, 1930 ~ November 28, 2023Geraldine C. (Gerry) Neiderhiser, 92, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Colonial Oaks Health Care Center in Marion. She was born December 28, 1930, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. Her parents, George and Anna Corey, and her husband, Roy E. Neiderhiser, preceded her in death. Gerry graduated from Canonsburg (Pennsylvania) High School in 1948 and shortly thereafter took her first job as a secretary at Pennsylvania Transformer Company. She married Roy Neiderhiser on July 19, 1956, and they moved to Cambridge, Ohio, where he worked for RCA Consumer Products. His career at RCA took them to Cherry Hill, N. J. , then to Marion. After Roy's death in 1975, Gerry returned to full-time employment, working first as an executive secretary for SCM paper products, then for RCA/Thomson Consumer Electronics until her retirement in 1995. Gerry was a long-time member of Resurrection Lutheran Church (previously St. John's Lutheran Church) and served as the church council secretary for several years. In later years, she enjoyed lunch with her "church ladies" after services most Sundays. She was an avid supporter of the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra and served on its board. She also was an active participant in activities and fundraisers of the "MPO Friends. " She loved traveling, and, for her 70th birthday, she arranged to take her three daughters to the Grand Canyon, creating spectacular memories for all of them. She was a loving mother whose independence both inspired and strengthened her daughters. She delighted in her grandchildren and traveled wherever their parents moved over the years to spend time with them. She loved music and taking walks through the neighborhood or on the Cardinal Greenway. She also took great pleasure in gardening and was known to brake suddenly when driving by a flowering tree or fall foliage to admire its beauty. She always counted her blessings. She is survived by three daughters, Susan (Jay) Bradford; Patty (Ed) Bowling; and Joyce (Kent) Lawson; seven grandchildren, Amanda (Emery) Jordan, Andrea (Donnie) Jones, Nathan (Emily) Bowling, Nick (Jess) Bowling, Madeline Bowling, Aaron Lawson and Danielle Lawson; and two great-grandchildren, Dean and Isabella. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. , Marion, IN. Mary E. Wallace, 83, Marion, passed away at 2:35 pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in her home. She was born in Geneva, Indiana, on Monday, November 25, 1940, to Lester and Mary (Miller) Lloyd. On October 15, 1956, she married William E. Wallace, Sr. , and he preceded her in death. Mary attended Van Buren High School and worked in Quality Control at Pierce Governor in Upland for 28 years. She was a member of the American Legion. Mary loved fishing, hunting, Bingo, and slot machines. Survivors include her daughters, Cynthia (Brian) Clark of Marion and Laura Campbell; sons, William (Brigitte) Wallace, Jr. , of Marion and Ralph Wallace of Upland; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Fern Burton of NC, Alta Desthimer of FL, Helen "Laine" (Jim) Milmine of Angola, and Lorretta (Rohn) Eilsworth of TN; and brother, Charles (Carolyn) Lloyd of Jalapa. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Joann Wallace and Kathy Bruner; sisters, Alberta Johnson, Betty Croford, Susan Eib, and Phyllis "Jeannie" Baker; and brother, Lester E. Erma Jean Imler, 98, of Butler, Pennsylvania, previously a resident of Marion, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 24, 2023. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, July 26, 1925, to Thurman and Verna (Poe) Overman. She was married to Fredus Earl Imler, who preceded her in death. Erma graduated from Marion High School and graduated from Marion College with a bachelor's degree in music. She was a newspaper carrier for many years with the Chronicle-Tribune in Marion and had won "Paper Carrier of the Year". Erma was a member of Lakeview Wesleyan Church, of which she was one of the founding members. She loved singing in church choirs and the Easter Pageant. She also loved watching the Colts and Pacers. Survivors include her son, Keith A. (Diana) Imler of Butler, PA; daughter, Jewel (Walter) Browning of Marion; grandsons, Eddie Earl Browning, Jesse Browning, and Steven Imler; and granddaughters, Natalie Imler and Julie Imler. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Geral Overman. She was born in Logansport, Indiana, on Saturday, March 26, 1927, to Marvin and Clara (Adams) Heck. She married Morris E. Jennings, and he survives. Patricia graduated from Rock Creek High School and was a member of First Baptist Church in Marion for several years. She volunteered and served in various church groups throughout her life. In addition to her loving husband, Morris E. Jennings, Patricia is survived by her sons, Philip L. (Donna) Jennings of Huntsville, AL and John "Mike" M. (Linda) Jennings of Indianapolis; grandson, Lee (Jackie) Jennings of New Market, AL; granddaughter, Sarah (Bryson) Raney of Indianapolis; great-grandsons, Peyton Jennings of Huntsville, AL, Logan Ray Jennings of Huntsville, AL and Carter Raney of Indianapolis; and great-granddaughter, Abigayle Raney of Indianapolis. Danny D. Trosper, Sr. , 77, Marion, passed away at 2:27 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in his home. He was born in Roll, Indiana, on Sunday, May 12, 1946, to William Trosper and Thelma (Parks) Kirby. Danny proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Following his military service, he worked at Midwest Canning Factory in Fowlerton for 30 years until his retirement. Danny loved fishing and playing Poker. He was a member of a pool league and played for RP's Pub for years. Danny also enjoyed music and singing, especially Karaoke. He loved his family and will be missed by many. Survivors include his sons, Danny (Annette) Trosper, Jr. , of Marion and Don (Debbie) Felton; daughter, Dorethea (Gary) Brock; grandchildren, Sharon, Summer, Heather, Jacob, Brittany, Danny, III, Sueann, Christy, Jeremy, Cruz, Harley, Shannon, and Michelle; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred, William "Spud" (Linda), Ted, Chuck, and Billy Ray; sisters, Shelby, Alice "Sue", Cindy, Lindy, Helen, and Mary; brothers-in-law, Paul Hazelwood and Jack Elliott; sister-in-law, Shirley Trosper; and several extended family members and friends. R. Lee Brown, 78, of Bloomington, Indiana, died on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Lee was born in Marion, Indiana on July 12, 1945, son of the late Chester Lee and Alberta (Trueman) Brown. Due to the death of his father at the age of two, Lee's grandparents, Lee and Russell Brown and Dewey and Mable Trueman played a significant role in his life. Lee attended Marion High School and was a 1963 graduate of Greenfield High School. During high school, Lee won three National Championships in national roller-skating competitions in New York, Illinois, and Michigan. Lee graduated from Indiana University in 1968 and also received his Master's Degree in Secondary Education in 1971 from Indiana University. At I. U. , Lee was a member of Sigma Chi Social Fraternity, the Singing Hoosiers, the Indiana Student Foundation Little 500 Steering Committee, and Blue Key Honorary. In 1985 he received his Secondary Administration Certificate from Ball State University. Lee proudly served his country in the Army, winning Soldier of the Year and Outstanding Soldier awards during basic training at Fort Knox, KY and touring in a US Army Variety Show for three months. During his 17 years of teaching history at Marion High School in Marion, Lee was voted National Honor Society Teacher of the Year on three different occasions. Lee spent eight years in Hammond as an Assistant Principal and five years as a Principal at Lowell High School. He was also actively involved in theater at Marion High School, Marion Community Theater, Bear Creek Farms and in Orlando's Walt Disney World, where he directed a show in Fantasyland. Lee also enjoyed politics, reading, college basketball, and playing bridge. Lee is survived by a half-brother, Jeff Inskeep of Greenfield, Indiana. Arrangements for Lee have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana.
