Michael Scott Grundy, known affectionately as "Gumby," passed away on September 5, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and devotion. He was born on April 30, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to his loving parents the late John and Kathleen (nee' Murphrey) Grundy. Throughout his career, Michael worked as a Shop Manager in the manufacturing industry. With dedication and a strong work ethic, he made significant contributions to the companies he served. His commitment to excellence and attention to detail earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. But Michael's impact extended far beyond his professional life. He lived his life with warmth and kindness, always putting the needs of others before his own. As a husband and father, he showed unwavering love and support to his family. Paula was the love of Michael's life, and they shared 24 incredible years together. Their bond was built on trust, laughter, and deep understanding. Alongside Paula, Michael raised a beautiful family filled with love and joy. He will be forever cherished by his three children: Samantha Wilson, Michele Grundy, Anthony Grundy; step-son Bradley Aiello. Michael also leaves behind a legacy of seven beloved grandchildren: Justin Wilson, Hunter Hurchanik, Mark Grundy, Autumn Hurchanik; the late Aubrynn Grundy; Logan Aiello, and Sophia Grundy. As an adoring great-grandfather to Elijah Wilson, Michael savored the special moments shared with this youngest addition to the family. His love and wisdom will continue to guide and inspire Elijah in the years to come. Extended children include Myles (Sarah) Musser, and Steven (Lindsay) Aiello as well as extended grandchildren Liam Musser, Gavin Musser, Rosalynn Musser, Dean Michael Musser; Roman Michael Aiello. His heart overflowed with pride for each one of them. Michael's friends always found solace and reassurance in his comforting presence. He possessed a unique ability to listen without judgment, offering genuine advice and heartfelt encouragement. Michael's friendship was a priceless gift that left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. A Visitation in honor of Michael's life will take place at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home located at 280 S. Main St, Plymouth, Michigan, on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Another visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, starting at 2:00 PM until his Funeral Service, which aims to celebrate Michael's life and legacy, beginning at 7:00 PM. In these difficult times of mourning, it's essential for all who knew Michael to come together as a community. Together, we can cherish the memories he left behind and find solace in our shared love for him. Michael Scott Grundy was not only a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend; he was also an extraordinary soul who touched countless lives with his kindness and compassion. Vern W. Coon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on November 30, 2023. He was born on June 16, 1939, in Pentwater Michigan to his parents Clyde and Estella Coon. Vern leaves behind his loving wife, Sylvia Coon. Together they created a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Vern's children who he deeply loved, Nancy (John) Maynard, Dawn (Ken) Godeke, Marie (Tim) Strang and daughter-in-law Pat Enright. He is preceded in death by his son Brian Enright. Vern also leaves behind a legacy through his grandchildren Shane (fiancé Sean), Jeremy, the late David, Alexis (Ian), Jerett, Jasper, and Lilja. His love for them was unwavering; he cherished every moment spent with them. Vern had strong bonds with his siblings as well. He is survived by his brother Gayle (the late Marilyn) Coon and Adrian (Evelyn) Coon. Vern's sister Shirley (the late Jerry) Anthony and sister Donna (the late Bob) Gates also survive him. Their memories together are cherished by all. Vern will be reunited with his sister Katherine and her husband Theodore Van Den Heuvel who have preceded him in death. Vern Coon will also be remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews whom he held dear throughout his life. Vern served as a Sergeant in the Army from 1959 to 1961 as part of the Green Beret Reserves and the esteemed Paratrooper 101st Airborne division. He was also an aircraft mechanic. His bravery and commitment to serving his country were truly commendable. Vern began his career at GM in Ypsilanti as a rate clerk many years ago. In this role, he dealt with insurance and freight trains, showcasing his meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills. After dedicating himself to his career for many years, Vern decided to retire, bidding farewell to the automotive industry twenty-nine years ago. After retiring he took a job making dentures for a short time. Vern had many hobbies, he enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, and home renovation projects. His love for these crafts led him to build a breathtaking fireplace mantle and shelves that added warmth and character to his home. He refinished furniture, including caning the seats of antique chairs. He made bookshelves, cabinets, book stands, tables, and many other things for family and friends. He had great mechanical skill and could fix cars, lawnmowers, and just about any other engine. For many years, Vern and his wife Sylvia did War of 1812 historical reenacting. He made clothing accurate to the period, fired muzzle-loading cannons and flintlock muskets, rowed ship’s boats, and made other gear, including a sled for a cannon at the River Raisin Battlefield Museum in Monroe, Michigan. He was a member of the Amherstburg Provincial Marine reenactment group for several years. Vern loved being helpful to others, offering his help whenever possible. He was a member of St. John’s episcopal Church in Plymouth where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Study group. Vern's commitment to his family and friends never wavered. He was dedicated, loyal, and always willing to lend a helping hand. His warm smile and friendly demeanor touched the lives of many, creating lasting friendships and cherished memories. May Vern Coon rest in eternal peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Vern's life will be celebrated during a visitation at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St. , Plymouth, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. The visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and end at 7:00 PM. Friends may also visit at St. John's Episcopal Church, 574 S. It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, husband, son, brother, and grandfather at the age of 63. He departed this world unexpectedly, leaving an irreplaceable void in our lives and in the hearts of all who knew him. Born on June 25, 1960 in Beirut, Lebanon, Majd George Sambar lived a life characterized by love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his family. He was a pillar of strength, a source of inspiration, and generous to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He touched the lives of many with his warm smile and boisterous laugh. Majd was the son of Mary Sambar and the late George Sambar. The devoted husband of Nadwa Sambar; loving father of three daughters – Nadine (Rabih) Mallah, Rania (Rony) Hana, and Camille Sambar (Ayara Pontioso). The proud grandfather of Mustapha and Adam Mallah, and Naïa Hana, who is soon to be born. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his brothers, Hani (Rima) Sambar, Habib (Maha) Sambar, and Arthur (Katherine) Sambar. Majd was a collector and a man of many hobbies. He enjoyed making memories with his loved ones who were often on the receiving end of his quick-witted jokes. Everything that he did was shrouded in his love for his family. Majd’s perfect day was sitting in the sun on the beach relaxing with his wife, Nadwa. As a licensed scuba diver he loved the water where there were endless possibilities of what could be above and below its horizon. Together with his family, they journeyed to countless places, making memories that will last a lifetime. In these destinations, they had many novel experiences and savored the flavors of new cuisines. He was always daydreaming about their next adventure. Majd was a wonderful cook. His family would often ask for one of his many specialties; foul, manaeesh or just about anything on the grill. His grandchildren loved his animated and elaborate imagination. The trinkets and nicknacks he collected painted a picture of his life. Majd was always making his own rules, marching to the beat of his own drum, and defying convention. If you asked Majd about his greatest accomplishment in life, it wasn’t his successful career as an engineer, it was being a dedicated family man. His wife and kids say that he loved life’s simple pleasures, sharing vibrant stories, and passing down rich family traditions. Above all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his wife, soulmate, and best friend, Nadwa. Elaine Lorraine Scott passed away on November 24, 2023. She was born on March 26, 1932 in Garden City, Michigan to her parents Henry and Pearl Tatro. Elaine is survived by her sons Michael (Patricia Huhtelin) Phillips and William (Deborah)Phillips, her 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Elaine is preceded in death by her son Jeffery Phillips, her beloved husband of 25 years, George Ernest Scott (Ernie) and siblings Opal Malek, William Tatro, and Donna Stevenson. Elaine enjoyed spending her time traveling to auctions and going to antique stores with her husband Ernie. They would explore treasures from the past together, appreciating the unique beauty of each item they discovered. Elaine also loved visiting the Salvation Army, becoming a regular weekly shopper and making friends during her visits. Her keen eye for hidden gems made every shopping excursion an adventure. Jensen Beach in Florida also held a special place in her heart, as she relished spending winters there enjoying the sunshine, golfing with friends and shopping at the numerous secondhand stores in the area. Also a wonderful cook, Elaine was known for her amazing meals from scratch that she loved sharing with her family and friends. During her lifetime, Elaine was a dedicated nurse who worked at St. Mary Hospital in Livonia, providing compassionate care to countless patients. Known for her kind spirit, charitable nature and strong independence, Elaine will be missed dearly by all. May she find eternal peace and may her memory continue to inspire kindness and love in all of our lives. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elaine can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
