Mike was born on May 25, 1957 in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to Charles A. and Marjorie (Lampert) Buechlein. Mike achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1974 (Troop 79, Viking Council Minnesota). He was a 1975 graduate of Jasper High School and a 1979 graduate of Indiana University School of Business. He married Diane Lines on October 14, 2006. Mike worked for over 40 years as a manufacturer's lighting engineer, most recently in Fort Myers, Florida, coordinating with architects and engineers on interior and exterior commercial lighting designs. Some of his favorite projects include the lighting design for Mother Teresa Museum at Ave Maria University, Ave Maria, Florida, and the air traffic control tower at Southwest Florida International Airport. Mike enjoyed being with his family and friends, whether it was assisting them with their own lighting designs or grilling delicious meals for them at gatherings. He was involved on the maintenance committee at Paseo Community where he resided. Mike is survived by his wife, Diane; his parents, Marge and Charles Buechlein of Jasper; sisters, Anne Wilmes (Art) of Indianapolis and Grace Buechlein of Jasper; brothers, John Buechlein (Amy) and Mark Buechlein (Kyla) of Jasper; sister-in-law, Donna Lowhorn (Rick) of Spiceland; brothers-in-law, Jim Lines (Pat) of Fishers, and John Lines (Linda) of Fort Myers, FL, 8 nieces, 3 nephews, 2 great-nieces, and 2 great-nephews. Mike was preceded in death by grandparents, Carl and Rose (Blessinger) Buechlein and Hugo and Mary (Spink) Lampert; sister, Monica (Buechlein) Berger; nephew, Joseph Berger; and uncle and godfather, Most Rev. Daniel Mark Buechlein, OSB, Archbishop Emeritus of Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael Mark Buechlein will be held at 1:00 p. m. on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church at 760 Church Avenue in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a. m. until the 1:00 p. m. Mass time at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday. Clarence V. "Jack" Burch, Jr. , age 86, of Jasper, Indiana, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at St. Charles Health Campus, Jasper, Indiana. Jack was born in Louisville, Kentucky on July 6, 1937 to Clarence V. and Alberta Burch, Sr. He married Mary W. (Shepherd) Burch on April 7, 1973 in St. Rita Catholic Church, Louisville, Kentucky. He retired from Louisville Naval Ordnance Station. Jack was a member of Highview Baptist Church in Louisville. He enjoyed boating, fishing, automobiles, home projects and spending time with family and friends. Surviving is his wife of 50 years, two sons, Kevin (Marsha) Shepherd of Jasper, Indiana and Brian (Laura) Shepherd of North Fort Myers, Florida, three grandchildren, Kirk (Lydia) Shepherd, Craig Shepherd and Lydia Shepherd and two great grandchildren, Eleanor and Kate Shepherd; two brothers, James "Jim" (Joann) Burch and Gerald "Jerry" Burch and one sister, Wanda Burch, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his parents are one son, Mark Burch. A visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Arch L. "Dateline Jasper, Indiana Edgar L. Oeding, age 87, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 3:25 p. m. on Monday, November 27, 2023. Edgar was born in St. Henry, Indiana, on January 19, 1936, to Paul and Anna (Moeller) Oeding. He married Mildred Hopf on June 18, 1960, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. He was a United States Navy Veteran, who served on the USS Forrestal. He was a diesel mechanic for Cecil Kaiser Automotive, Transmobil, and HRJ Automotive, and he then retired from Kimball Upholstery. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, and Jasper Outdoor Recreation. Edgar enjoyed hunting, playing cards, especially Sheepshead, watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball and I. U. basketball, and westerns, especially Gunsmoke, and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Oeding, Jasper, IN, five daughters, Jacqueline (Tommy) Thomason, Jasper, IN, Patricia (Lonnie) Nicholson, Jasper, IN, Chris (Scott) Hopf, Jasper, IN, Carla (Joseph) Miller, Normal, IL, and Rhonda Oeding, Jasper, IN, 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Kris was born in Jasper, Indiana, on November 25, 1969, to Edward and Donna (Mundy) Blessinger. He was self-employed and was the former owner of Blessinger Automotive. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish - St. Celestine Catholic Church, Celestine Community Club, and the Jasper Moose. Kris loved attending Stock car races and had previously been a part of Bayer Racing Team. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. "Dateline Jasper, Indiana Gilbert "Gib" Verkamp, age 84, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 2:35 am on November 26, 2023, at his Santa Claus home surrounded by family. Gib was born in Huntingburg, Indiana, on May 4, 1939, to John and Wilhelmina (Schipp) Verkamp. He married Catherine "Kate" Hoffman on May 11, 1968, at St. Joseph\u0027s Catholic Church in Jasper. They were married for forty-four years before she preceded him in death on December 28, 2012. Following the death of his wife Catherine, Gib reconnected with a childhood neighbor, Rita Uebelhor, and they were married on February 28, 2015, at St. Meinrad Archabbey. Gib was a 1957 graduate of Huntingburg High School and a 1961 graduate of Indiana State University. He retired as Chairman \u0026amp; CEO of MasterBrand Cabinets in 2000 after a thirty-two year career with the company. Gib was a recipient of the Boy Scout Distinguished Citizen Award and an inductee into the Junior Achievement Dubois County Business Hall of Fame. He served as president of the Indiana State University Alumni Association and the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association, as Board Chair of Freedom Bank and Indiana Furniture, and as a founding Board member of the Dubois County Community Foundation. Surviving are his wife Rita Verkamp of Santa Claus; children Max (Jen) Verkamp of Jasper and Ann (John) Kvach of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren Lauren, Ryan, and Erin Verkamp and Ben and Tom Kvach; two sisters Virlee "Perk" Kreilein of Jasper and Sr. Mary Ann Verkamp, OSB of Ferdinand; one brother Bernard Verkamp of Vincennes; extended family Beth (Jarid) Hirt of Santa Claus, Don Alan (Roxanne) Snyder of Santa Claus, and Sara (Rich) Fischer of Evansville, their children and grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, his first wife Catherine, his sister Sr. Mary Aquin Verkamp, OSB, and his brothers Robert Verkamp and Francis "Frank" Verkamp. Delphine was born in Celestine, Indiana on February 25, 1927, to George and Caroline (Schnell) Heldman. She married Earl H. Knies on July 9, 1949 in St. Celestine Catholic Church and remained a long-term resident of Celestine, Indiana. Earl preceded her in death on July 22, 2016. She was a homemaker. Delphine enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of St. Isidore Parish in Celestine. She is survived by three daughters; Audrey Haas, Carmel, IN, Valerie (Brian) Thompson, Celestine, IN, Sarah (Brian) Kidd, Chicago, IL, two sons; Stan (Dino) Knies, Jasper, IN, Don (Sharon) Knies, Jasper, IN, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one sister; Lucille Blume, and one brother, Cletus Heldman. Betty was born in Jasper, Indiana, on August 29, 1928, to Edward and Otillia (Hopf) Buehler. She married Walter "Jerk" Heichelbech on June 17, 1948. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1970. Betty owned and operated Heichelbech Restaurant for 38 years. In retirement, she worked at Circle A and Wooden Keg Liquor. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, D of I, St Ann's Society, American Legion Post #147, Indiana Restaurant Association, 20th Century Literary Club, St. Vincent DePaul, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, and the Original Homemaker Club. She volunteered her time at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center, St Charles Health Campus, Brookside Nursing Home, Red Cross, and RSVP. She was an avid photographer. She enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, jigsaw, word puzzles, needle work, and Indiana basketball. She is survived by one daughter; Beth Browning, Jasper, and three grandchildren; Justin and Jordan Browning and Tiffany (Shawn) Doogs, four great-grandchildren; Tia Pennington, Tara Pennington and fiance Kalin Knepp, Vance Pennington and Ryan Doogs. "Dateline Celestine, Indiana Mark A. Bieker, age 72, of Celestine, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 7:25 p. m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at home. Mark was born on July 20, 1951, to Oscar Sr. and Viola (Lubbers) Bieker of St. Anthony. On April 7, 1973, Mark was united in marriage to Sherry Knies at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1969, and he enlisted in the US Army at the end of the year. Mark served with the 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Mark was a member of St. Isidore Church and the Celestine Park. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #493 of St. Anthony. In 1977 Mark started Bieker Construction Co. and retired in 2019 after 42 years of home building. He loved all types of woodworking, gardening, watching IU ball games and western TV shows, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife Sherry and four sons all of Celestine, Chris (Kelly) Bieker, Jeff (Jennifer) Bieker, Adam (Hannah) Bieker, Philip (Abbey) Bieker, 11 grandchildren, Cam, Amelia, Owen, Andy, Kaden, Keenen, Karsen, Aubrey, Wesley, Claire, and Ben Bieker, sisters Gloria Petry, Patty Ahrens, and Sharon (Floyd) Jones, a brother, Richard (Kathy) Bieker, and sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Bieker and Linda Bieker.
