Michael J. Alberta, 94, passed away on September 9, 2023. Michael was born in Milford on April 13, 1929 and was married to Barbara (Bartera) Alberta for 63 years. Michael is survived by his son, Michael J. Alberta, Jr. ; a daughter, Pamela (Alberta) Di Pronio and her husband Michael; a granddaughter, Carolyn Di Pronio and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. Michael was the son of the late Giuseppe and Annunziata Alberta and the brother of the late Christine (Alberta) Carabba. He was a faithful communicant of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford. Michael graduated from Milford High School in 1946 and served four years in the U. S. Air Force where he was awarded the Korean War Service Medal. He was an employee of the Stop & Shop Supermarkets for many years and was a well-known musician in the region. There are no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rt. 109, Milford. Patricia "Pat" Emily Cove (Gilmore) passed away at her home in Uxbridge on November 28, 2023 at the age of 88. She was surrounded by her five children and husband as she lost a courageous and graceful six month battle with breast cancer. Despite the advanced state of her disease, she was able to spend and enjoy Thanksgiving with her entire family. Pat is survived by her husband of 63 years, J. Francis Cove III, and five children: Patricia Walker and husband Michael Walker of Uxbridge; Mary Cove and wife Rebecca Sykes of Center Sandwich, N. H. ; James (Jim) F. Cove IV and husband David Cucinotta of Norwell; Kate Heald and husband Bill Heald of Natick; and Michael Cove of Uxbridge. Pat was a proud and doting grandmother to her six grandchildren: McKenzie Walker Saunders and husband Jake Saunders, Jane Walker, Rose Heald, Sarah Heald, Laura Cove and Finn Cove. Pat was especially thrilled to have two great grandchildren join the family in recent years: Ciaran and Imogen Saunders. Pat is also survived by her brothers, Daniel Gilmore and his wife Joyce Gilmore, and Brian Gilmore and his longtime partner Barbara Schauer. Pat was the daughter of Daniel Gilmore and Rena Gilmore and the sister of her beloved Barbara Flanders, wife of Don Flanders, who predeceased her. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Born at Whitinsville Hospital, Pat graduated from Uxbridge High School and Milford Hospital School of Nursing. She was a former Registered Nurse at Milford Hospital in pediatrics. Her training as a pediatric nurse was put to good use when she became a mother to her five children which was her proudest vocation and a source of great joy. In addition to nurturing her family, Pat was an avid gardener who looked forward to reviewing seed catalogs each winter as she began to plan her vegetable and flower gardens for the spring. Pat was an active parishioner of Saint Mary's Church in Uxbridge her entire life, a past member of the Whitinsville Golf Club, Fripp Island (South Carolina) Golf Club, and the St. Mary's Church Bereavement Committee. Pat's family would like to thank the palliative care team at Milford Regional Medical Center, Salmon Health VNA and Hospice, and Always Best Care Senior Services for their guidance, kindness and compassion over recent weeks. Visiting hours will be Monday, December 4, 2023 from 4 - 6:30 PM in the Buma Funeral Home, 101 N. Main St. , Rte. 122, Uxbridge. Mr. Walter E. Lynch Jr. , 62, of Uxbridge MA died unexpectedly on Monday (November 27, 2023) at his residence in Uxbridge MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Harriet A. (Keating) Lynch who died in 2009. Walter was born in Boston MA, the son of Walter E. Lynch Sr. and Shirley A. (McMullin) Lynch. He attended public schools in Whitman MA as a young boy and was a graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School, Class of 1979. Walter was first employed as a young man as a draftsman, working in Canton MA. He later owned & operated, with his late wife Harriett, the DIY Auto Parts Store, located in Wareham MA. Walter enjoyed fresh water fishing, playing pool, gardening and doing all kinds of projects around the house. He was very handy and had made a coffee table & wooden speakers for his home and even his own guitar. He also personally dug out & created a basement at his residence in Wareham MA. Walter was also a "weather buff", always interested in the workings of severe weather like thunder storms, hurricanes & blizzards. He and Harriet were also avid pet owners and had numerous dogs & cats over the years. His favorite past time was spending time with his beloved family members, especially his late wife Harriett. Walter is survived by his beloved parents: Walter & Shirley of Whitinsville MA; his 2 sisters: Karen F. L. Barrett and her husband Kevin Barrett of Hopedale MA & Robin M. Scanlon of Uxbridge MA; also 4 nieces; 1 grandniece & 2 grandnephews; aunts, uncles & several cousins. In accordance with his wishes cremation will take place. Hopedale - Audrey "Diane" Frazier (Fearebay), aged 89 years, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023, in Worcester, MA, after a period of declining health. Born on May 22, 1934, in Framingham MA to the late Charles and Gladys (Nottage) Fearebay. Diane was the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Frazier, who preceded her in death in 2008. A cherished mother, her legacy continues through her son, Robert W. Markmann and his wife Gloria Mercier of Attleboro, and her daughter-in-law Leslie Dunlavey of Brockton. Diane was predeceased by her children James Markmann and Paula Markmann. She was also a proud stepmother to William F. Frazier and his wife Jean of Northborough, Mary T. Reyes and her husband Roy of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Jeannie A. Frazier and her husband Louis Donato of Boston, John D. Frazier and his wife Kim of Holliston, Robert P. Frazier and his wife Ellen of Watertown, and Karen M. Frazier-Walsh and her husband David of Australia. Diane was a doting grandmother to John Markmann of Milford, 12 step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She also had the joy of being a step-great-grandmother to 16 children. She was predeceased by her siblings Norma, Maris, Nathalie, and Buddy. In her later years, her companion was her 15-year-old cat, Tiger, who was a source of comfort and joy. Diane had a fulfilling career at the law firm Nealon & Nealon in Hopkinton. She was a valued member of the firm from the day they opened until her retirement. Even after retirement, she continued to be a part of the firm's family, attending their staff Christmas parties and keeping in touch with her former colleagues. Beyond her professional life, Diane had diverse interests and hobbies that brought her immense joy. She was an avid knitter and crocheter, creating beautiful pieces that were treasured by those who received them. Her love for games was apparent in her weekly Bingo games at the Hopedale Senior Center, where she was a beloved member. Diane was passionate about staying active and enjoyed swim aerobics at the YMCA. She was a woman who embraced life and loved to travel. Her trips into Boston with Frank were always a highlight, as were her visits to Puerto Rico. She had a special place in her heart for Ogunquit, ME, where she created countless memories. Above all, Diane was a family woman who loved family get-togethers and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did, and her home was filled with countless family photos. The family would like to thank the many medical professionals who supported and cared for her. Edward Motuzas Sr. , 86, died on November 19, 2023 after a short hospitalization, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan (Dever) Motuzas. Edward is survived by four sons: Edward Jr. of Vineyard Haven, MA, Robert and his wife Carolyn (Leite) of Milford, MA, Stephen of Milford, MA, and David and his wife Julie (Donaher) of Nashua, NH. He was predeceased by his son Scott, his parents Vincent and Julia (Ananis), and his brother Richard. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Courtney of Milford, MA, Patrick and his wife Tyana of Northbridge, MA, Nathaniel of Milford, MA, Ashleigh of Nashua, NH and Jay Lucan Ferreira of Buritis Rondonia, Brazil. He is also survived by one great granddaughter, Mila of Northbridge, MA. Ed loved watching sports, gardening, fishing, and spending time on his computer. He spent a lot of time with his grandchildren, sharing stories about his own childhood and adolescence. Ed was employed by the Polaroid Corporation for 38 years. He spent the last 28 years volunteering as the chapter leader for the Compassionate Friends Organization, a support group for parents and families who have lost children. He helped many others there by running monthly meetings, sending newsletters, attending conferences, and just lending an ear. Ed and Joan were selected as Compassionate Friends Chapter leaders of the year in 2021, being chosen out of over 600 chapters in the United States. He also spent many years on the Board of Directors for Milford Youth Baseball where he introduced T-Ball to Milford baseball back in the mid 70's. Ed was also on the Board of Directors for Milford Youth Hockey along with the Amateur Hockey Association of Massachusetts and served as a district register for many years. Ed spent many years at the Milford Senior Center as well, being selected as Senior of the Year in Milford in 2020. He was an avid fan of the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra having front row season tickets for many years. He loved following his children and grandchildren as they participated in many different activities through the years. Ed will always be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, mentor, fan, and friend. Dorothy Pestana Derby, 96, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Rev. Marvin Derby who died in 2001. Dorothy was born in Boston in 1927, the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Maria (Camacho) Pestana. Dorothy and Rev. Derby lived in Medway for 15 years, then moved to Fryeburg, Maine for another 15 years and later settling in Uxbridge for the last 20 years. She worked as a switchboard operator and later a receptionist at the former Framingham Union Hospital in Framingham for over 25 years before her retirement. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting and took great pride in raising her family. In earlier years, she enjoyed playing basketball with the kids and in later years, liked to dance and to travel with her friend, the late Russ Rosborough. She was also a volunteer at Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge, loved going to see her friends and the staff at the Uxbridge Senior Center and always enjoyed a nice sunny day at Pout Pond in Uxbridge. She is survived by her sons, Paul L. Moscaritolo and his wife Maria of Cataumet and Leonard P. Moscaritolo; 3 daughters, Donna Boyce and her husband Robert of NC, Janis Moscaritolo of Mendon, and Susan Moscaritolo of Uxbridge; 3 grandchildren, Emily, Daniel and Lena; and 3 great-grandchildren, including Sophia and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 5 siblings, including her late sister, Delores Berry. Services will be private at a later date.
