Obituary Merrylin Trethewey, died peacefully in her home in Granger, IN on September 10, 2023. Born on October 13, 1940 in South Bend, the daughter of Andrew V. and Alice F. Brant-Priest. Merrylin is survived by her spouse, Joesph "Tom" Trethewey married 64 years, her children Brad and Carol Trethewey, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings Bruce and Laura. Merrylin demonstrated her love of life through her many passions. She enjoyed performative arts, being a member of the Guys and Dolls dance club, and performed baton twirling and hula (Hawaiian dance). Merrylin also found joy managing offices, kitchens, gardening, and pit-crews. Merrylin's life was a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Her effervescent smile, infectious laughter, and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, who will remember her as a beacon of love, joy, and kindness. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. on Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 915 N. Ironwood Dr. South Bend, IN 46615. Shelby Wright Norris Obituary Shelby J. Wright Norris, 86, residing in Niles, MI passed away on the morning of Wednesday, November 29, 2023, following a brief illness. She was born May 2, 1937, in Tishomingo County, MS, and has lived in this area most of her life. On June 11, 1955, in Plymouth, IN; as Shelby Smith, she was united in marriage to Dewey M. Wright who passed away on December 9, 1985. Then on Sept. 23, 1989, in Mishawaka, she married Charles H. Norris who preceded her in death on June 4, 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Vicky Blake of South Bend; and three sons, Donny Wright of Mishawaka, Kerry (Tammy) Wright of Niles, and Tracy (Amanda) Wright of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Louise Russell of Florence, AL, Norma Wright, and Sue Overholser, both of South Bend. Along with her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Regina Lutz, three sisters, Maunedith Heffington, Lavolyn Smith, and Peggy Gentry, and three brothers, Bimel Smith, Samuel Smith, and Noah "Sonny" Smith. Shelby retired as a Quality Control Manager with Automatic Molded Plastics in South Bend. Throughout the years, she enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and going to the casino. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 - 7:00 p. m. Monday, December 4, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St. , South Bend. Services celebrating her life will be at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the funeral home with Rev. Garey Beck officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Johanna "JoAnn" Meersman Obituary Johanna F. Meersman, 92, of Elderberry Lane, South Bend, IN, passed away in her home on November 26, 2023. Johanna was born on December 22, 1930, in Mishawaka, IN. , to Andrew and Anna (Jaworska) Janczycki. Johanna was preceded in death by Charles J. Meersman, her husband of forty-eight years, daughter Michelle Meersman, and granddaughter Jamie Stephen. Johanna was predeceased by her siblings Paul, Mary Miller, John, Agnes Pavlicek, Victoria Petrou, Frank, Joseph, Josephine Eastman, Helen DeBroka, George, and Sophie Kinney. Johanna is survived by her children Charles J. Meersman Jr. of South Bend; Anne Stephen (Sean McKean) of Hobart, IN; Kevin (Janine) Meersman and Kris (Charles) Bergman of South Bend; six grandchildren, Sharon (Meersman) Bradley of Buchanan, MI; Tara Stephen of Griffith, IN; Kari (Scott) Wagner of Gaithersburg, MD; Nicolas (Amanda) Meersman of Elkhart, IN; and Matthew Bergman of Lakeville, IN; eleven great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild. Johanna retired after 40 years of service from the National Bank & Trust Co. Following her retirement, she worked at Montgomery Ward in Scottsdale Mall, was a member of the Rosary Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Jude Church, and volunteered at St. Joseph Community Hospital - Mishawaka for several years. Visitation for Johanna will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p. m. on Thursday, Nov. 30 at Palmer Funeral Home - Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. , Mishawaka, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Friday, Dec. 1 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
