"Merritt Stevens Bumpas passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2023, at the age of 58 after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by Billie Holden, his partner of 23 years, Matthew Revere (Jenifer), and Shawn Fitzmaurice (Daniel), and their children. He is also survived by his sister, Stacey Bumpas Hayden, brother-in-law, Rusty Hayden, and nephew, Robert Stevens Hayden. Merritt was born in Jackson, MS on July 23, 1965, to the late Merritt Stevens Bumpas and Jean Hughes Bumpas. He attended St. Paul's High School in Covington and earned his Bachelor\u0027s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. Merritt lived briefly in Atlanta and Charlotte before moving home to Covington where he resided until his death. He nurtured his love for books while working at Barnes and Noble Bookstore as an Assistant Manager for many years. He met Billie and they shared a love for gardening, nature, movies, classic novels, and history. He is also survived by his aunt, Jackie Hughes Meena, of Madison, MS, uncle, Andrew Gillespie Bumpas (Kayneil), of Mandeville, LA, Aunt aunt, Susie Magee Bumpas, of Metairie, LA, and cousins, Guy H. Bumpas IV (Hayley), and Lauch Meena, of St. Petersburg, FL. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care provided by Ochsner Cancer Center and St. Tammany Hospital Hospice. "Malinda Barber West, beloved artist and homemaker, entered into the kingdom of heaven to be with our Lord and Savior on the 28th of November at the age of 89. She was born August 8, 1934. A native of New Orleans and resident of Covington for 35 years. She loved everything about New Orleans especially the food. She was an artist who specialized in oil and acrylic paintings. Her artwork ranges from portraits to swamp scenes. Her paintings are spread around town from local doctor's offices to family, friends, and those she loved. She was an incredible homemaker, and an extraordinary cook. She devoted her life to her family. It gave her great joy to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a loving caregiver to her son Bill for many years. Malinda is survived by her children, Sky Dixon, Bill West, and Mike West; her grandchildren, Ara Porche(Ernie), Jerry West, Catie West, and Nick West; great grandchildren, Tre Porche, Dylan Porche. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul West; parents, Kent Barber and her mother, Anna Hall Day and her lifelong best friend Joanne Grace. She also leaves behind her friends of 50 years (Carolyn, Gayle, Peggy, Charlene). What started out as an art group Malinda formed, would quickly become a family. She always looked forward to her times spent with them, especially their annual Christmas party. The West family would like to thank these amazing women for walking with her through many ups and downs up until her final days. She cherished and loved each one of you. "Thelma "Tee" Holliday Bergeron passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023. She was born in Tylertown, MS on February 10, 1935. She lived a full, loving and so loved beautiful life. Tee grew up as Thelma in Lexi, MS on a farm, working alongside her parents, siblings and others. She graduated from Lexi High School, near Tylertown and was anxious to see more of the world! Almost immediately she moved to the Bogalusa, LA are, got a job and a room right away. That made her want to see more! She and her best friend, Pauline Graves, moved to New Orleans, got jobs with the phone company, moved in together and began exploring the City. When Pauline was dating a man named Dennis Bergeron, she introduced Tee to his brother, Bill Bergeron - then the brothers married the best friends and a lifelong friendship was formed. When Tee and Bill married, he joined the Marine Corps and they started a family and began military life and seeing the country and the world. They supported each other through everything and gave their family an amazing life. Tee worked at a bank in McAlester, OK when they lived there, She loved it and never looked back. When they moved to Mandeville, LA when they were close to retiring from the Marine Corps, she began working at Citizens Bank in Covington, LA where she stayed for about 30 years! She loved her co-workers and her customers. Tee was always laughing, joking, smiling, and loved making others laugh. Even after so lovingly raising her own kids, she was so very involved in grandkids lives and even the great-grandkids lives - taking them all to soccer, football, basketball, cheerleading and all the activities she enjoyed so much with them. She was unstoppable! Even after the deaths of her parents and siblings, the love she had for them remained as strong as when they were here with her, as did her love for all their children. Her love for her husband and family was unconditional and everlasting. She was the most beautiful woman, inside and out. Even on the day she passed, her skin looked like that of a 25 year old! Her faith in God never waivered - even in tough times, she knew he would get everyone through troubled waters. She almost seemed happy to go to Him on her last day. She is survived by her loving husband, Major Joseph William "Bill" Bergeron, Sr, USMC RET. , her children, Jeanne Bergeron, Lawerence William "Bill Bergeron" (Sharon), Michael Bergeron of Kansas, Lisa Bergeron, of Virginia, her stepchildren, Joseph W. "Joey" Bergeron,Jr. (Nora),of Gulfport, MS, and Cindy Bergeron (John) of Ponchatoula, LA. She is also survived by her many grandchildren, her great-granddaughters, and one great great granddaughter. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Ada Gertrude Dillon Holliday and Lawrence James Holliday; and by her sister, Rosa Faye Holliday Martin, and her brothers Ray Hollliday and Burl Holliday. She also had three siblings that died as infants. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. He was born in New Orleans, LA, on September 19, 1956 to Patricia and Harry Schmidt, Jr. He is survived by his loving siblings, Connie Aucoin, Marie Kickel, and Harry Schmidt III. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends. A native of New Orleans, and proud resident of Slidell, LA for over 15 years, Clinton graduated from East Jefferson High School, in Metairie, LA. After high school, he began his professional career as a commentator for WSMB radio. Clinton was successful and well respected as a radio presence from the New Orleans to the Northshore area. Clinton was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed spending time indoors, following his beloved Saints and LSU football teams. He was an avid and dedicated sports fan. However, his true passion was spending time with his loving family and friends. Clinton was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. "Alton Francis LeNormand, Jr. passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday December 2, 2023 at the age of 57 after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was Born June 3, 1966 in New Orleans, LA to Alton Francis LeNormand, Sr. and Judy LeBlanc LeNormand. Alton is survived by the love of his life, his wife Rayanne Boudreaux LeNormand of 33 wonderful and meaningful years. He was the loving father of Heidi LeNormand Alcorn (Kevin) and Holly LeNormand Nellett (Jeff). Alton was the proud Pawpaw of Olivia, Aubrie, J. J. , Kash, Ryleigh, and Lilian. He was the brother of Tammy Sill (John), and Michele Prince (Kevin). He is also survived by his Godchild, Ryan Krebs and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Louis E. LeBlanc, Sr. and Thelma Fernandez LeBlanc and paternal grandparents James C. LeNormand, Sr. and Alberta Moliason LeNormand. Alton was a proud graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School class of 1985. He was a dedicated employee of Mele Printing for the past 24 years, where he made many meaningful friendships. One of his greatest accomplishments was building his dream car, a 2019 Dodge Charger Scat pack. His passions included hunting, fishing, camping, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. "After a long battle with Early Onset Dementia, Cheryl Anne Weis Rutter was reunited in heaven with her children and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 1, 2023. Cheryl was born in Lima, Ohio on December 30, 1954 to Edith and Edward Weis. She loved showing horses for her local 4H, especially her beloved horse Chip. Cheryl attended Shawnee High School before going to Nursing School in Toledo, Ohio. Later in life and through much adversity, she earned her Masters at Loyola University New Orleans and furthered her career as an adult Nurse Practitioner. Cheryl met her husband Gene Rutter of 47 years on an airplane in Charleston, SC and they were engaged 22 days later. While raising her children in Covington, Louisiana she enjoyed traveling, watersports, snow skiing and most of all opening her home to host countless bible studies, showers and parties. She will be remembered by all of the patients' lives she touched in the NICU, labor and delivery, ER and later working in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and with Veterans in Santa Fe, NM. Cheryl was a master seamstress, she loved to sew, design and craft things for everyone she knew and didn't know. In her lifetime she made and gifted hundreds of beautiful smocked baby bonnets and knitted scarves and blankets. Cheryl is preceded in death by her two children Courtney Marie Rutter (1983) and Eugene James Rutter III (2003) and her father Edward Weis. She is survived by her husband Eugene Rutter Jr. , her daughters Chelsie Jackson (Randy) and Caitlin Boelte (Jeremy) and her beloved grandchildren Isaac, Imogene and Emmett Jackson and Courtney, Alice and Catherine Boelte. "Lawrence (Larry) J. Orlando, Jr passed away at his home on November 29, 2023 with his family by his side after a lengthy battle with Parkinson\u0027s disease. Larry was born February 17, 1948 in New Orleans, LA to the late Lawrence Orlando and Elaine Debelo Orlando. Larry is survived by the love of his life, his wife Barbara Shultz Orlando, sons Lawrence J. Orlando III of Cumming, GA and Matthew Orlando of Austin, TX. Their daughter Brandi Orlando preceded him on 11/2/2019, which he has greatly missed. His loving grandsons Blake and Logan brought him much happiness and a third grandson is due on December 12, 2023 that he was longing to see. Larry\u0027s siblings are the late Peter Orlando and Nicholas Orlando along with surviving sisters Josie Orlando Adams and Eva Orlando. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry graduated from Chalmette High in 1967 and continued his education at the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He was a life-long insurance agent and spent the majority of his career as an owner/agent for Allstate until he retired. Larry enjoyed family gatherings with the laughter, stories and jokes shared by everyone. His many hobbies included fishing, riding motorcycles, sailing, concerts, racquetball and Saints games. "Peter Louis Gitz Jr. , at the age of 88, entered eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 29, 2023, at his family home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Madisonville, Louisiana on March 8, 1935, to Peter Louis Gitz Sr. and Ellen Raiford Gitz. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Jo-Ann Bennett Gitz. His adoring children Peter Gitz III (Amy), Paul Gitz (Robin), Janet Gitz Casey (James), and Judy Gitz Yaple (Andrew). Peter was the proud grandfather of Ashlyn Gitz, Camden Gitz, Megan Gitz, Dillon Gitz, Cole Casey, Colin Casey, and Brynn Yaple. He was a caring brother of Raiford Gitz. Peter will be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, wonderful lifelong friends, and the Madisonville community. Peter was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Ellen Gitz, and brothers Ronald Gitz and Terry Gitz. A proud lifelong resident of Madisonville, Peter graduated from Covington High School in 1954. He worked in management at Prestressed Concrete Products retiring after 27 years with the company. He took over ownership of Badeaux's Drive-In, famous for its hamburgers and milkshakes, in 1976. He became Mayor of Madisonville in July 1976 and retired in 2016. His 40 years of service to the town of Madisonville came with many accomplishments and memorable moments: the building of the bulkhead on the riverfront, acquisition of the Madisonville Lighthouse and Lightkeepers house, being one of the originators of the Maritime Museum and the Wooden Boat Festival, bringing a regional-caliber library to Madisonville, which was later named after him, expansion of the town-owned natural gas service, and leadership after Hurricane Katrina, stories of the Silk Lady and the town's iconic rooster Reveille. He was parishioner to St. Anselm Catholic Church his entire life. Peter was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed spending time on his farm tending to his cattle and sheep and baling hay. However, his true passion was spending time with his loving family and friends. Peter was unique and irreplaceable, well-respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His jovial spirit and tender, humble nature will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again. "B. "Roy" Kellum passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the age of 77. He was born in Laurel, Mississippi, on October 14, 1946 to Lola and J. C. Kellum. He is survived by his loving wife, Rhetta; his children, Brian A. Kellum (Demetress), Keith W. Kellum, \u0026amp; Ronnie R. Kellum (Patricia Mahoney); his step-children, Lori A. Levy (Danny), Jaye A. Hebert (Karen), Jodi L. Bordelon (Riley); his brothers \u0026amp; sisters Barbara Willingham, David Kellum Sr. (Donna), Paul Kellum (Mary), Jack Kellum (Kim), Bobby Kellum (Cindy), Lola Baudoin (Lester). He is also survived by his many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and wonderful lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cynthia Wilson Kellum, his brother James "Calvin" Kellum (Hilda), and sister Diane Wilson. A native and proud resident of Loranger, Louisiana for over 20 years, Roy graduated from Fortier High School, in New Orleans, Louisiana. On February 1, 1966, he showed great commitment to our country, and joined the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Metal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and his proudly earned Purple Heart. On January 31, 1972, he was honorably discharged, having earned the rank of Sergeant, and began his civilian career. Roy's chosen professional path was in store materials in a supervisor position, at a public utility company. Roy was successful and well respected as an avid gun collector and hunter from New Orleans to Northshore area. Roy was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, practicing archery and hunting. He was an avid and dedicated veteran, with involvement in the Military Order of the Purple Heart, American Legion Post 16, and the Vietnam Veterans of Louisiana. However, his true passion was spending time with his loving family and friends. Roy was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memoires of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again. .
