Melyssa L Weigold of North Braddock, age 45, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023 following a courageous battle with Breast Cancer Born on April 10, 1978, Melyssa was a vibrant and loving individual who touched the lives of many with her warm personality and infectious laughter Melyssa was the cherished daughter of the late Richard Porupsky and Elizabeth "Betsy" (late John McKinley) (Weigold) McKinley She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Al'aia (Chase Cannon) Brown and Kenadie Hayes, who were the center of her universe Melyssa was also a loving sister to Ryan Weigold, Heather (Vince) Cowherd, Melanie (Derrick) McKinley-Jenkins, Emiliano (Stephanie) Amador, Richelle Porupsky, Arman Porupsky, Ronald (Melissa) Porupsky, and Tara (Antawn Davis) Wynn She is also survived by her mother figure, Teresa Wynn, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, and her extended "bonus children" whom she deeply cherished A 1998 graduate of Woodland Hills High School, Melyssa went on to serve as a logistics coordinator for several businesses throughout the greater Pittsburgh area Melyssa was well known for creating a welcoming atmosphere, which she put to good use tending bar for a number of local establishments, most notably the American Legion Post #527 in East Pittsburgh Melyssa was a woman of many interests and talents She had a deep love for travel, particularly to warmer climates with beautiful beaches, with Florida being her favorite destination A skilled artist and painter, Melyssa was known for creating unique birthday glasses for her family and friends, a testament to her creativity and thoughtfulness Her outgoing and friendly nature made her a joy to be around, and she had a knack for lighting up any room she entered with her vivacious personality Above all, Melyssa was a devoted mother who loved her children deeply She would do anything for them, and her love for them was evident in everything she did Her children were her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments Friends are welcome Tuesday from 10 a m - 1 p m at Unity Baptist Church, 420 5th St , Braddock, PA 15104 A Funeral Service will be held in the church at 1 p m Arrangements by Patrick T Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc , Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave , Turtle Creek,

Raymond R. "Bear" Fantaski, a beloved figure in the community of North Braddock, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at age 87. Born on January 27, 1936, in Braddock, Bear was a pillar of strength, kindness, and love to all who knew him. Bear was a devoted family man, survived by his son, Mark (Michelle) Fantaski of Wexford, daughters Mary (Andrew) Wood of Hampton, and Denise (Tom) Davis of Forest Hills. He was a cherished grandfather to Matt, Greg, Abby, and Alaina Fantaski; Ian and Alex Wood; Sarah and James Davis. Bear was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy E. Fantaski, and his siblings; Elmer, Tom "Boomer", Jack, Frances, and Sister Johnette Fantaski . He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A proud graduate of North Braddock Scott High School in 1953, Bear went on to serve his country in the US Army during the Korean era. In 1961, he embarked on a successful career with the North Braddock Police Department, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Bear exemplified what it meant to be a hometown community police officer, earning the respect and admiration of those he served. He retired in 2000 after 39 years of dedicated service. In addition to his work in law enforcement, Bear was a lifelong member of the North Braddock Volunteer Fire Department. He was well-known for his volunteer work at Fire Department functions such as the North Braddock Fish Fry and the street fairs. Many will remember Bear's booming voice calling out "hold your corn" during the bingo games after someone shouted "bingo" to verify a legitimate win. Bear was a member of the Sokol Hall in North Braddock and spent many years as a member of the Silver Sneakers alongside his wife, Dorothy. He was a devout Catholic and member of the former St. Joseph Church in Braddock, where many friends and family still kid with him years later after played the role of the Infant Jesus 2 years in a row during the Nativity, affectionately earning the nickname, "Baby Jesus. " An avid sports fan, he treasured attending games with his wife and children. Despite his many interests and commitments, Bear always prioritized family. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and his legacy of love and kindness will live on in their hearts. Friends are welcome Friday from 2-8 p. m. at Patrick T. Ronald S. Zawodni, lifelong resident of North Braddock, age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Born on February 20, 1936, in Braddock, he was the son of the late Jacob and Frances (Gostowski) Zawodni. Ron was a loving, kind, and friendly man who touched the lives of many with his generosity and warm spirit. Ron was predeceased by his wife, Dolores (Kamenic) Zawodni, his sons, Paul and Ronald Zawodni, his sisters, Eleanor (late Joseph) Horvath and Victoria (late Joseph) Cinciripini. He is survived by his grandsons, Michael (Tara) Zawodni and Raymond (Natalie Martzial) Zawodni, his great-grandchildren, Callie and Michael Zawodni, and several nieces and nephews. Ron was a proud veteran, having served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. After his service, he found his calling as a talented carpenter. He was self-employed and also worked with a building and remodeling company, where his craftsmanship and attention to detail were highly valued. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Ron was a man of many interests. He enjoyed daily 5-mile walks with his late wife, Dolores, a tradition that kept them both active and connected. Ron also had a green thumb, spending countless hours in his garden and landscaping his property. One of Ron's most well-known attractions in North Braddock was his swimming pool. It was a place of joy and relaxation, not only for him but also for his family and friends. Friends are welcome Sunday from 2-5 p. m. at Patrick T.
