Live Stream Service Kimberly Joyce "Kim" Reese was born February 26, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee, the only child of the late Louis Henry Reese and Pauletta Minrose Greene Reese. Kim attended Hamilton Elementary School and Hamilton High School. She gave her life to Christ as a child and was a deeply devoted member of First Baptist Church Lauderdale throughout her life. At Hamilton High School, Kim played saxophone in the marching band and the concert band. After graduating from Hamilton in 1986, she matriculated at Jackson State University (Jackson, MS), where she was a member of the famed "Sonic Boom of the South" marching band. She received her Bachelor of Science (B. S. ) from Christian Brothers University (Memphis, TN) in 1992. For nearly 30 years, Kim fulfilled her life's passion to help others as a nurse. Following her graduation from Christian Brothers, she continued her education at Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a registered nurse (R. N. ) in 1994. She began her career as a staff nurse at Methodist Extended Care Hospital. From 1997 - 2009, she served as clinical lead, clinical director, and quality improvement specialist. In 2009, she began working with Dr. Sam Delk at the Wound Healing Center at Methodist South as the Registered Nurse Case Manager, a position she held until 2018. She was known as a caring, compassionate practitioner. In 2018, she joined the Veterans Affairs Hospital (V. A. ) serving as a Community Care R. N. During the global COVID-19 pandemic, Kim was on the front lines working onsite at the V. A. , caring for patients. Kim loved her church. She was an active member of the Sanctuary Choir and the Whosoever Will Choir. One of her favorite activities with the choir was singing in the church's annual performance of the Messiah. Kim also served as a lay leader in the church as Secretary on the Trustee Board. She was a faithful member of the Women's Deacons and Trustees Ministry and the Women's Ministry. To know Kim was to know her family; and to know her family, was to know Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Kim was initiated into the Mu Epsilon chapter of the Sorority, at Christian Brothers University on December 6, 1989. After graduation, Kim immediately joined the Beta Epsilon Omega graduate chapter of the Sorority with her grandmother, mother, aunts, and cousins. Kim served as lead graduate advisor for several years, providing guidance to young women in her undergraduate chapter, Mu Epsilon. She was a member of the Graduate Advisors' Council of Beta Epsilon Omega. She was also a faithful member of the Georgia P. Quinn Ensemble. In 2014, Kim achieved Silver Star status as a 25-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Kim was preceded in death by her father Louis Henry Reese; her grandparents, Julius and Freda Greene and John and Sophronia Reese; and a host of close relatives, including aunts and uncles Freda Greene Martin, Doris Reese, Michael David Greene, Lila Reese-Dumas, and Evelyn Reese Matlock. Kim is survived by her mother, Pauletta Greene Reese; her beloved great aunt, Jeraldine Franklin Sanderlin; her aunt, Dr. Beverly Greene Bond (Geraldus) and uncle, Glenn Gary Greene, Sr. (Brenda); cousins Karen Sanderlin Champion (Maurice), Phyllis Brown Mitchum (Paul), Patrice Brown Myers (Alan), Rebecca Madlock Hutchinson (Noel), Georgia "Gigi" Dumas Whiting, Patricia Dumas Johnson, Rita Dumas Snelling (Ralph), Elise Reese Evans (Walter), Reginald Reese (Shirley), Phillip Reiner Reese, Julia Bond Ellingboe (Christopher), Randi Greene Chapman (Justin), Glenn Gary Greene, Jr. , Justin Michael Greene, Jocelyn Greene Mitchell, Melanie Martin Norman, and a host of relatives and special friends including Esteria Stevison.
