Barbara Wise

Barbara Wise

Age - 82

August 22, 2023

Barbara Ann (Kimmel) Wise, age 82, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 20, 2023, after a five-year battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. Born August 30, 1940, in West Finley Twp. , Washington County, daughter of the late Edward "Ted" and Mary (Tilton) Kimmel. Barbara attended grade school in the two-room schoolhouse in Graysville, where her parents owned the local general store. She attended high school at Rogersville and West Greene in 1958, where she played the trumpet in the band. After graduation she attended Penn Commercial Business College in Washington and graduated with honors. Barbara also took piano lessons in Graysville as a child, which allowed her to play as an adult for children in Sunday School. She especially enjoyed singing in the Choir. Her church relationships were maintained her whole life. Barbara first worked in the office of Tigard Valley Glass Company, then at the Hood Insurance Company, where she met her future husband, Layton Wise. She and Layton married on September 26, 1964. Barbara was devoted to her husband’s endeavors, of which there were many, primarily his antique car hobby. She, thus, was a charter member of the Covered Bridge Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America and was the first News Editor. Barbara served in this position under numerous presidents, up to present date, the 36-year history of the club. Her adventures in the club, as well as the Cantankerous Model T Ford Club, Model A Ford Club, and Panhandle Region of the AACA, took her over 10, 000 miles on tours in a Model T and more than 28, 000 miles in a Model A, plus many miles in her pink breast cancer awareness Mustang. These adventures allowed her to make acquaintances with people from all over the world. After Barbara’s children began attending grade school, she was eager to reenter the workforce. She was the assistant to Attorney Long for about 10 years, then the Secretary to the minister at West Washington United Methodist Church for several years until her and Layton retired. This was a time to travel and spend the bad winter months in Florida. In 2000, a one-month cruise to twelve cities in the Mediterranean and Europe was a life-time experience, followed by numerous cruises to Mexico, Alaska, Western Caribbean, Nassau, New England, and dozens of week-long antique car tours, all over Florida and other states. Hawaii was already scratched off the bucket list at her 25th wedding anniversary. Barbara worked to support all three children so they could complete their college educations. This was carried on by the next generation, with all six grandchildren receiving the same support from their mothers. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, Marci Lynn (Mark) Wise Witouski, of Gibsonia, Kristi Sue (Jason) Wise Roehm, of San Marcos, CA, and Andrew Scott (Mary Ellen) Wise, of Graysville; six grandchildren, Alexander, Collin, and Victoria Witouski, of Gibsonia, Serena Roehm, of San Marco, CA, Laura (Patrick) Wise Reade, and Andrew (Anna) Wise, both of Graysville; her sister, Donna Mae (Ralph) Kimmel Dogil, of Pelham, AL. George Ritchea

George Ritchea

Age - 73

April 28, 2021

George "Buck" Ritchea, age 73, received a private call inviting him to come and join our Savior, family, and friends in heaven on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his home in Washington County. He was born on Feb ruary 28, 1948 in Wheeling, WV, the son of the late Memsie and Elsie (Heath) Ritchea of Wheeling, WV. George graduated from Sherrard High School in 1965. Following his service in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War, he married the late Judith Dianna (Kiger) Ritchea on November 7, 1970. George worked as a bus driver for Schwartz for 26 years and then retired in 2007. This was an anticipated call, and one that allowed him to pass from this life to the next peacefully and to be surrounded by family and friends. While on earth his life was not easy, nor devoid of heartache, but he did try to live life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing poker with family and friends. One thing about playing poker with Dad it was never dull or boring, instead it was usually loud with a lot of laughter. Dad also enjoyed watching old western movies, and if the movie was a John Wayne movie, all the better. Thanks to this obsession we can pretty much quote all the John Wayne movies word for word. One of his favorite pastimes was the retelling of stories of people, places, and occurrences during his life. Many of those stories began with "You would never believe what those kids on the bus did today, "My brothers and I", "Sis can you do this for me?", and "Let me tell you about the time..." Surviving are four children, Terry (Gary) Loughman of West Alexander, PA, Rosella (Dave) Ealy of West Alexander, PA, Melissa (Brandon) Gerbhardt of West Liberty, WV, and Margaret (Geoff) Baird of Wheeling, WV; a sister, Pearl Dourgherty of Dallas, WV, and four brothers; Norman Ritchea of Dallas, WV, Donnie Ritchea of Dallas, WV, Denny (Wanda) Ritchea of Elm Grove, WV, and Dave Ritchea of Dallas, WV; along with nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephew, great nieces, and great nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a grandson, Drake. We ask that you join us in celebrating his former life here on earth, and his new life in heaven on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM, at the Dallas United Methodist Church, 7355 Dallas Pike, Dallas, WV 26036. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11AM at the church with Pastor Lisa Fox, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Dallas, WV, with full military honors conducted by the United States Army and the West Alexander American Legion Post # 656 Honor Guard.
