Gabriel M. Placencia, a cherished family man, respected community member, and reliable friend, passed away suddenly due to unknown health conditions on November 21, 2023, in Jurupa Valley, CA, at the age of 47. Born in Downey, CA, on October 28, 1976, Gabriel's journey was marked by dedication, warmth, and a profound commitment to those he held dear. His early years were spent in Riverside, CA, playing with his brothers and sisters in the fields surrounding Lake Mathews and the orange groves along Victoria Blvd. He attended Harrison Elementary School and later moved with his family to Moreno Valley, CA. As a teen, Gabriel, affectionately known as Gabe, began working at Boompa's Pizza, a local family restaurant, where his strong work ethic and leadership qualities immediately stood out. This experience jump-started his career, leading to management positions at several SoCal restaurants. Despite the challenges, Gabe thrived, laying a solid foundation for his future. Eventually, he transitioned from the hectic pace of restaurant management to a role at Auto Chlor, servicing machines crucial to the industry. Gabe's expertise and reliability were noticed in this new capacity, earning him the respect and appreciation of his colleagues. Throughout his professional journey, he was known for his tireless commitment to excellence and his consistent willingness to exceed expectations in his role. Outside of work, Gabriel's spirit of volunteerism shone brightly. He was heavily involved with the Girl Scouts, supporting not only his daughter and wife but the broader community. His efforts in organizing cookie deliveries and facilitating camp event meals near Idyllwild were instrumental in enriching the lives of countless young scouts to whom he was affectionately known as Fezzik. His dedication did not go unnoticed, as the organization honored him with the distinguished awards of Rocketman and Green Genes, recognizing his invaluable contributions to their mission. Gabriel was the eldest son of Miguel Placencia and Victoria Pitsenberger and the first grandson of Robert and Kay Pitsenberger. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Brandy, and his cherished children: Devin, ToriAnn, Kaitlyn, and Shawn. His siblings, Elicia, Nathan, Rachel, and David, also deeply enriched his life. He loved his stepmother Laurette as well as his numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. Each of these family members carries with them the indelible mark of his love and the lessons he imparted through his actions and words. A goth boy at heart, he loved electronica music and tattoos. He made his own music and started his own side hustle as an amateur tattooist. He loved to attend comedy nights and drag queen shows. He was the nonconformist in the family and drew in outcasts with empathy and warmth. Gabe made friends everywhere he went. Even babies loved him!! Gabriel's life was a testament to the power of friendliness, wisdom, and love. He navigated the complexities of life with a grace and humor that encouraged those around him. His departure leaves a void that can never truly be filled. Yet, the memories of his laughter, his counsel, and his unwavering support (and being a smart ass) remain a comforting presence. In honor of Gabriel M. Placencia, let us celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart generously shared. His story does not end with his passing but continues in the lives of those he touched. Gabriel's legacy is one of boundless love and an enduring commitment to family and community, which will continue to resonate for generations to come.
