Melvin John Holbert, 90, of Belpre, passed away September 9, 2023 at Ellison Assisted Living in Marietta. He was born May 13, 1933, in Sandyville, WV a son of the late Levi Warren and Manila Odessa Sprinkle Holbert. Melvin had worked as a computer technician representative and was a U. S. Army veteran serving in Germany. He had attended Belpre Heights Methodist Church and was a member of the Civitan Club in Belpre. He enjoyed bowling and playing bingo. He is survived by his son John Holbert Jr. of Walled Lake, MI; daughter Tina Gray (Jeff) of Winchester, KY; 5 grandchildren Karah, Erika, Adam and Kellie Holbert and Conner Gray; sisters Ruth Ann Morehead, Ellen Fay Clark and Doris Brady; brothers Dean Holbert (Jewell) and Robert Holbert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Karoline Magdeline Holbert and his brothers James, Kenneth, Darrel, Donald and Paul Holbert. Funeral services will be 2pm Tuesday September 12, 2023 at the Leavitt Funeral Home Belpre. Burial will follow at Stewart Cemetery in Hockingport. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12-2pm. Don Anthony Offenberger, 88, of Parkersburg, WV passed away at The Willows on December 5, 2023. He was born November 20, 1935, a son of the late Clement Offenberger and Mildred Morgan Offenberger. Don proudly served our country in the Marines and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired as an Iron Worker for Local 787. He was a member of United Methodist of Vienna and Bellview United Methodist of Pensacola, FL, and the masonic lodge. He enjoyed western movies, especially John Wayne, and reading about history. He was the best care-giver to his wife, Boots. He was the best husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Beulah "Boots" Carpenter Offenberger; sons, Don Jr. (Becky) Offenberger of Parkersburg, WV, Troy (Michelle) Offenberger of Parkersburg, WV, Todd (Angie) Offenberger of Vienna, WV; daughter, Nicki Macrostie of Athens, OH; brothers, Carl Offenberger and Gary Offenberger; sisters, Brenda Offenberger, Mary Wanda Miller; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be 2 P. M. December 10, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Terry Jane Cottle Handlan, age 75, passed away unexpectedly at her home surrounded by her loving and devoted husband, Joe Handlan, on Sunday December 3rd, 2023. She was born March 15th, 1948, to Lester G. and Eloise Thorne Cottle in Parkersburg, WV. Terry was married to the love of her life, Joe Handlan, in Elizabeth, WV on June 9th, 1973. Terry and Joe celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past June. They met while she was a substitute teacher at Parkersburg High School and pursuing her Bachelor's Degree at WVU. Terry obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Library Science and Physical Education at WVU. Her professional career spanned 30 years working for the Bureau of Public Debt. She retired from the Bureau of Public Debt on June 1st, 2012. Terry accomplished many things throughout her life, but she was most proud of her two loving and devoted children, son Jody and daughter Julie. Terry was also proud of her several professional honors, including The Albert Gallatin Award and The Partnership Council's Certificate of Recognition. Terry attended and successfully completed The Disney Approach to Leadership Excellence in 2004. She is survived by her husband, Joe Handlan, son Jody Handlan (Cami) of Fairmont, WV, daughter Julie Cupp (Nathan) of Morgantown, WV, sister Ann Garges (Tom) of Charleston, SC; brother Gil Cottle (Susie) of Philadelphia, PA, brothers-in-law Tip Handlan (Liz) of Columbus, OH, Stu Handlan (Linda) of Richmond, VA; sisters-in-law Liz Wilton (Craig) of Columbia, MD, Patty Harman (Chuck) of Morgantown, two grandchildren Joslyn Handlan of Fairmont and Tristan Matthews (Deziray) of Panama City, FL, a great granddaughter Lennox Matthews, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Terry was preceded in death by her in-laws, Joe and Betty Handlan, and a grandson Brendan Matthews of Towson, MD. She is also survived by two special friends, Barb Shaulis, and her lifelong friend Sue Balsley. Terry also had two special companions she loved spending time with, her dogs Bailey and Charlie. Terry treasured her family and friends more than anything. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Memorial Services will be held Friday 11:00 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church with Father Charles Wilson officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Riverview Cemetery. Our dear mother Jennifer S. Conaway sadly passed away on November 30, 2023 at the age of 80. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when her children and family needed her. She had a close relationship with her family and many friends. Jennifer graduated from Glenville State College. She was the the first Executive Director of the West Virginia Health Care Association. She was a Nursing Home Administrator from 1973 to 1995. Jennifer was a member of the Jaycees, an avid skier, enjoyed traveling, enjoyed the beauty of West Virginia and loved her family unconditionally. She and her daughter, Melaney Parrish owned Reflections where they served women who had Mastectomy needs. They also owned Highland Defibrillators and were advocates for the need of Automatic External Defibrillators in schools and businesses. Born and raised in Philippi, WV, she was the only child of her family to be born in a hospital. She met the love of her life Larry Conaway while he was attending Anderson Broaddus University in Philippi, WV. Their first date was getting a milkshake in Belington, WV. Jennifer attended The Memorial Church of the Good Shepherd. She is survived by her daughter Melaney Lynn Parrish of Cross Lanes, WV; son David Lynn Conaway of Las Vegas, NV; and three grandchildren Lindsey Conaway of Clemson, SC, Erica Lynn Parrish of Seattle, WA, and Maverick Lynn Conaway of Las Vegas, NV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband in November of last year; son Michael Lynn Conaway; two brothers Ronald and Woodrow "Butch" Purkey; and two sisters Jackie Haddix and Judy Weekley. Darrell Lee Snider , 82, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 at The Willows Center. He was born on October 31, 1941; the eldest of nine children of the late Lloyd "Jigs" and Vivan Wolfe Snider. He retired from CCMH after forty years of employment, working in the Physical Therapy Department. Darrell enjoyed working with the patients and staff, and made many friends over the years. He was known for being a caring and kind soul. He is survived by his five children, Robert Alan Snider of Parkersburg, WV; Vivan Lynn (Vernon) Tinnin of Belen, NM; Donald Keith Snider of Parkersburg, WV; David Gale Snider of Parkersburg, WV and Patricia Almeda Greiner of Parkersburg, WV. He is also survived by six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Lloyd "Jigs" Snider and his brother Ronald Snider. Darrell was also preceded in death by his Uncle Ernie Parsons, later followed by special Aunt Erma Parsons, who he resided with and cared for. In October of 1957, a tragic house fire claimed the lives of seven of his siblings, including Linda, Sheila, Michael, Mona, David, Danny and Rita Jo including his late mother Vivan Wolfe Snider. His father did remarry a few years later, and Darrell felt blessed to have a wonderful stepmother, Wanda, whom he dearly loved. This marriage brought Darrell four more siblings whom he was close too, including Kristy (Bob) Nesselroad of Parkersburg, WV; Tina (Kenny) Kimble of Ranson, WV; Larry Snider of Vienna, WV; and Therese (Donnie) Harding of Vienna, WV. Also surviving is his beloved stepmother Wanda Snider. We would like to acknowledge a special friend to Darrell, Alberto Campos, for his kind visits during his recent hospital stay. Darrell treasured his close friendship with Ted Beanard, a Jehovah's Witness who held many Bible studies with him in recent years, which Darrell often expressed his joy of knowing that he would see his loved one's again in the coming Resurrection as stated at John 5:28. Katie Jo Maley, 21, of Parkersburg, Wv went to be with the lord on Nov. 24th, 2023 at her residence. She was born January 25th, 2002, in Parkersburg, a daughter of Janet Maley and Cameron Lee Maley Sr. She graduated from PSHS in 2020. She loved spending time and having fun with her family. She enjoyed going mudding, kayaking, and camping. Needless to say she loved the outdoors. She loved her two boys tremendously and enjoyed being a mother. She is survived by her step dad, Alton "Mike" Carter, boyfriend, Isaac Matthews, two children, Weston Matthews and Walker Matthews, grandmother, Shelia Maley (Clarence "Butch" Maley), Barbara Hunt, brothers, Austin McKay, Cameron Lee Maley Jr. , sister Abby McKay (Shane), twin sister Kylie Maley, step brothers, Baylon Carter, Isaac Carter, Traven Carter, nieces, Rylee Cline, Lilith Cline, Oaklyn Cline, Aria Maley, Willow McKay, Scarlett McKay, nephew, Jax McKay, uncles, Clarence "Bud" Maley (Donnita), Denzil McKay (Jennifer), Carl Mowry (Amanda) and numerous cousins. She was raised by Cameron Lee Maley Sr. , Lisa Eaton (Eugene), Barbara Hunt, Andrew Eaton (Lindsey), and Shelia Maley (Clarence "Butch" Maley).
