"Melvin Wayne Champagne Melvin "Pop" Champagne, 68, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Mid Jefferson Hospital in Beaumont. Memorial services will be held 2:30 p. m. , Saturday, September 30, 2023, at New Covenant Church in Port Acres. Officiating will be Reverend Mike Halliburton. Pop was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on May 23, 1955, he was the son of Melvin Raul Champagne and Gladys Eskine-Champagne. He was a self-employed commercial painter before retiring. During his free time, he would be fishing and every evening he would be sitting on his patio just watching the sky. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and forever be in our hearts. He is preceded in death by his sister, Shelia Sprouse. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Deborah "Sis" Champagne of Lumberton, TX; sisters, Bonnie Guin and husband David of Port Arthur, TX; Darlene Quebodeaux of Port Arthur, TX; Karen Smith of Nederland, TX; Patricia Stanley and husband Cecil of Lumberton, TX; stepsister, Maryellen Olds of Jasper, TX; and his brother, Tommy Champagne of Port Acres, TX. "

Joseph "Joey" Arthur Rice, age 76, of Lumberton, TX, departed this life on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, TX. He was born on January 10, 1947, in Jasper, TX, to Samuel "Pete" and Eloise (Crawford) Rice. Joey was a 1965 graduate of Warren High School in Warren, TX. After graduation he attended Lon Morris Junior College. He retired from BNSF railroad in 2007 after 27 years of service. Joey enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking. His favorite times were spent with family, especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was loved by may and will be truly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheila Rice of Lumberton, TX; son, Jody Rice of Silsbee, TX; 2 daughters, Christi Oldfield and husband, John, of Newton, TX and Misty Rice of Anahuac, TX; 2 sisters, Charlene Hust of Richmond, TX and Paula Patterson and husband, Danny, of Beaumont, TX; 7 grandchildren, Dillon, Kayti, Makayla, Seth, Montana, Brendan, and Steven; 6 great-grandchildren, Jed, Dustie, Teriel, Kade, Kipton, and Owen; his special friend, David West; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joey was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dustin Rice; and brother-in-law, Robert Hurst. Memorials may be made to St. Jude. "Larry Ronald Young Larry Ronald Young, 79, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away on November 7, 2023, at his home, in Lumberton, Texas. Visitation will be at 6:00pm, Monday, November 13, 2023, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00pm, at First Baptist Church of Loeb in Lumberton, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Travis Hood. Born in Beaumont, Texas, on November 2, 1944, he was the son of Newt Gresham Young and Lucille Young. Larry was a very active and long-time member of First Baptist Church of Loeb. Larry volunteered his time working at the Christian Care Center in Silsbee, and also volunteered every year for the Buckner Christmas Party. He was a retired electrician and member of the IBEW Local 479. Larry's passion was riding motorcycles, and he was a member of several organizations including Venture Touring Society, Christian Motorcyclist Associations, Cowboy Harley Davidson, and Honda Red Riders. Larry loved life and was always happy. Larry never met a stranger, and showed love and kindness wherever he could. His selfless service to his family, church, and even strangers will be remembered always. Larry was truly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Newt Gresham Young and Lucille Young, and his father and mother-in-law, Roy and Rose Cappadonna. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Louise Young; his children, Rhonda R. Richter and husband Shannon and Gregory S. Young and wife Michelle; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Richter, Lauren Richter, Bryley Young, Nikolas Young, and Samantha Young; his brother, Newt Wayne Young and wife Berta; his sister, Carolyn F. "Donald "Donnie" Keith Skidmore, 62, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away on November 2, 2023, in Lumberton. Born in Orange, Texas, on November 23, 1960, Donnie was the son of Don Skidmore and Lynn Skidmore Fields. He graduated from Deweyville High School and later from Lamar University as a piping engineer. Donnie was a wise, patient, and talented man whose creative side was limitless. Whether drawing, painting, cooking, or building, Donnie was driven and disciplined. He was passionate and proud of his work, always determined to do things well and achieve his goals. Donnie had an immense love of music, especially country and rock. A part owner of Rock the Wall Records, he spent decades amassing a collection of vinyl and vintage records. Possessing an incredible green thumb, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gun collecting. Donnie loved his country and was as patriotic as they come. He deeply loved his family and his pets. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son, Donnie was adored and loved by many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Don Skidmore; his stepfather, Arlon Fields; his father-in-law, Carl Capuano; and his grandparents, Albert D. and Dollie Skidmore, and Clyde and Lois Smithson. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Tonia Skidmore; his daughter, Jessica Ann Skidmore; his mother Lynn Skidmore Fields, and mother-in-law Patricia Capuano. Donnie's siblings are Greg and his wife Amy Skidmore, Stacey and her husband Larry Brister, and Duane and Travis Fields. Dorothy Mae Petrucci, age 94, of Vidor, TX, was born on September 16, 1929, in Beaumont, TX, to Hyman Chester Clock and Alva Thompson Block, and went into the arms of her savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 10, 2023. She believed and obeyed the beautiful plan of salvation (Acts 2:38), Repentance, baptism in Jesus' name with the infilling of the Holy Ghost. She cherished the Word of God. Her two favorite scriptures were Psalms 51-10, "Create in me a clean heart o God; and renew a right sprit within me. " And Jeremiah 32:27 "Behold I am the Lord, the God of all flesh, is there anything too hard for me?". She fearfully and faithfully followed the "old paths", living a godly life. She has style and loved to wear beautiful scarves. She had a collection of over 100 to match any outfit. She was a cheerful giver of her money, time, and talents. She was a member of Eastgate UPC for over 68 years. She taught Sunday School and was dedicated to the nursing home ministry. In her later years, the Lord gave her a card ministry, sending cards full of encouragement and genuine love to the sick, grieving, and discouraged. She was honest beyond measure, with a giving heart, and helped people with monetary needs, food, and emotional support. She was eager to share her excellent cooking and sewing skills. She was a prayer warrior and an example to family, friends, and strangers alike. She was a humble soul making an impression on everyone she met. She was witty and her smile would light up the room. She leaves a legacy that all will cherish and remember. She leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews that she loved dearly and prayed for daily. She will be missed but she is in the arms of the Lily of the Valley, the Sweet Rose of Sharon, Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Psalms 116:15- "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Franklin Wayne Stokely, Jr. , 62, of Lumberton, Texas, died Tuesday, October 24, 2023. He was born on December 21, 1960, in Longview, Texas, to Franklin Stokely Sr. and Mary Billingsly Stokely. Wayne was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend and so much more to all those whose lives he touched. His selflessness and dedication were evident in his role as a husband and father, raising five wonderful children. He instilled in them the values of love, kindness, charity, compassion, work ethic, humility, and family. Wayne loved his wife, Tamara, and together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth. Professionally, Wayne has been in the financial industry for 37 years, of which the last 17 with Neches Federal Credit Union as a Commercial Lending Officer. He had a positive impact and touched many people's lives in the community. Wayne loved to volunteer and work with various charities in the community. He was a Key Man with the YMBL and President of the YMBL in 2015, Fair Chairman for the Southeast Texas State Fair in 2017, and was also a previous board member with the Southeast Texas Food Bank. He loved to ride Harley Davidson motorcycles and was a member of the Cowboy Chapter Hog Association. He enjoyed the open road, weekend rides and cross-country trips with friends. Every ride or visit to a new place, he had to stop and grab a Harley poker chip and coin. He also loved spending time with his family, whether it be sporting events, weekend cookouts, or vacations; family is where he wanted to be. While we mourn the loss of Wayne, we can take comfort in knowing he left behind a legacy with his family and in the community. His caring nature will continue to inspire all those whose lives he touched. We can smile knowing that his spirit lives on and his selfless acts of service to others will remain as reminders of the great man he was. Let us not mourn the loss of Wayne, let us instead celebrate the impact that he had on all our lives. He will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us with his smile and legacy of love. Wayne was survived by his wife of 34 years, Tamara Stokely; children, Shauntel Palacios and husband, Richard; Lauren Brownlee and husband, Kevin; Shealyn "Huxley" Sloan; Shane Stokely; and Braelyn Stokely; grandchildren, Alexis Stokely, Allyson Williams, Zoe Brownlee, Kylie Brownlee, and Dawson Stokely; father-in-law, Travis Douglas; siblings, Elaine Matak and husband, Chris and Steven Stokely, Sr. and wife, Elizabeth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents.
