Kerry Alan Myer

Apr 12, 1961 - Feb 04, 2024

location-icon

Denison, TX

Kerry Alan Myer, 62, came to the end of his earthly sojourn and went home to live forever in Heaven on February 4, 2024.He was born April 12, 1961, in Pueblo, CO to Arthur and Artis Myer, the oldest of three sons. He later grew up in Carrollton, Texas and attended R.L Turner High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Lynda Stewart, whom after dating for five and a half years, he married on September 24, 1983. Together they had six children and were married for an adventurous 40 years. Kerry worked as an automotive technician for most of his life and in 2020 realized his dream of opening his own shop, Myer Family Automotive. Some favorite hobbies of his were playing soccer, camping, 4-wheeling, canoeing, hiking, sitting on his front porch watching the storms roll in, and tinkering after hours at the shop with his kids and grandkids. He treasured spending time with his family. Over the years, from mission trips abroad to local churches to his business, Kerry used his gifts and talents to serve the Lord, serve others, and model Christ. He was always happy to share his wisdom and experience with others and was not only a gracious and thorough teacher, but a faithful friend, dedicated brother and son, attentive husband, and ever present, loving father. His faith, passed down to him from his parents, was passed on to his own children and grandchildren, whom he loved well, in a legacy that will forever be cherished. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:1-4 He was ready to go, but we were not ready to lose him, and his death has awakened a deeper homesickness in all of us who loved him.Kerry was preceded in death by his mother, Artis Myer. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Myer; daughters Sara Barrett and husband Chad, Lily Kernan and husband Matthew, and Jessyca Myer; sons Kalan Myer, Kyle Myer and wife Becca, and Jeremiah Myer; grandchildren Jael, Chantry, Killian, and Jubilee Barrett; father Arthur Myer; brothers Keith Myer and wife Alice, and Kevin Myer and wife Lainie; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.Memorial Services will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Dorchester, Texas. Pastor Zach Poling will officiate.
