Megan E. DeSorbo, 28, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 after a short but courageous battle with Liposarcoma. Megan was the beloved daughter of Constance "Connie" (Malizia) DeSorbo and the late Darryl D. DeSorbo. Megan was born in New Britain on September 13, 1995. She graduated from Southington High School, Class of 2014 and was a member of the Within Reach Program. Megan was also active in the Unified Sports program and loved bowling. She enjoyed trips to the casino, cruising and spending time with family and friends, especially on vacations to Myrtle Beach. Megan had a special way of making people love her and she leaves behind many special friends that she made along her journey. In addition to her devoted Mom Connie, Megan is survived by her aunts and uncles who loved her dearly, Alan and Mary Provencal of Southington, Toni-Marie Landino and Bruce Kuczenski of Plantsville, Dominick and Cheryl Malizia of Meriden and Dean Landino and Denise, all of Southington, her "sister" Gina Provencal and cousins, Joseph Landino and Louis Landino. She is also survived by her loving extended family, Dolores and Joseph LaPorte, Donald and Jan DeSorbo, Molly DeSorbo, Grandma Kathy Campbell, Jim and Sue Keefe, Francesca Moran, Jimmy and Janine, Pauline and Rich and John F. DeSorbo and wife Donna of New Hampshire. In addition to her Dad Darryl, she was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Anthony and Dolores Malizia and paternal grandparents, John and Helen DeSorbo. Alan J. Legat, 65, of Southington, CT passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 4, 2023. Alan was born on August 17, 1958 in Southington to the late Steven and Florentine "Florence" Madonna (Strachel) Legat and lived his entire life in Southington. Alan was a toolmaker by trade and worked alongside his father at the family business, Diamond Tool Products in Plantsville. Alan is survived by his sister, Deborah Testa and her husband Richard of Southington, two nieces, Sarah Wadley and her husband Robert of Plainville and their 2 daughters, Lila and Juliette and Lindsay Robinson and Frank, brother-in-law, David Blozie of South Windsor and many loving Strachel cousins. In addition to his parents, Alan was predeceased by his sister, Cynthia Blozie, an infant twin brother, Joseph Legat and his brother, Kevin Legat. Alan’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the entire Southington community for the compassion, care and generosity that Alan received over the years. Salvatore A. Triano Jr. , 86, of Southington, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at his home. He was the loving husband of Norma (LaBonte) Triano for 42 years. Sal was born in Southington on December 21, 1936 to the late Salvatore and Anna (Mihalak) Triano. He was a lifelong Southington resident and devoted parishioner of St. Thomas Church. Sal was a history teacher at Southington High School for 35 years. During the summers and after his retirement, Sal explored many countries and the United States. He enjoyed 27 years of being a snowbird in Mesa, AZ doing many things he loved. There was no greater reward in Sal’s life than being a Grandpa. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events, playing board games and having good conversations with them, mostly about history. He also enjoyed bowling, bocce, gardening, watching football and of course going to Vegas. Sal was a faithful Patriots and Red Sox fan. In addition to his wife Norma, Sal is survived by his children, Elisa Johnson and her husband Brian of Illinois, Salvatore A. Triano III and his wife Wanda of Plymouth, CT and Jennifer Tribuiani and her husband Keith of Georgia and 6 grandchildren; Brian, Brittany, Nathaniel, Derek, Tyler and Emily. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Kathy Ricard and her husband Harvey and Marie DiCaprio and her husband William, both of Southington and several nieces and nephews. Jeanne E. (Lacasse) Sjostedt, 87, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late David A. Sjostedt for 65 years. Born on June 1, 1936 in Southbridge, MA to the late Armand and Marie Anne (Roy) Lacasse, she has been a longtime Southington resident. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Laurie McCarty (David), her son, Michael Sjostedt, and her son-in-law, David Kemmeur. She was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Louise Kemmeur. Jeanne is also survived by three grandchildren, Andrew Kemmeur (Jessica), Emily Hartke (Steven), and Amanda Sheffler (Dylan) and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Adelynn Kemmeur. She is also survived by her brother, Raymond Lacasse (Harriet), 2 sisters, Madeleine Lamothe and Estelle Rooney (Howard) and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and daughter, Jeanne was predeceased by one sister, Anita Cuikay and her husband Robert, as well as her niece and goddaughter, Marian Cuikay. Jeanne was a parishioner at St. Dominic’s Church in Southington and previously attended St. Aloysius Church for many years, where she co-led a charismatic prayer group with her late husband David for 20 years. Jeanne loved music and had a varied collection of recorded music, as well as sheet music for piano. She played the piano well and had a beautiful singing voice. In addition, she sewed well, and made many garments for herself and her daughters. She also sewed many of the curtains for the home. Jeanne and David were able money managers and were able to pay for their family’s needs and show benevolence to many. With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our adored mother and grandmother, Phyllis (Buczko) Fryzel, 95, of Southington, Connecticut. Phyllis passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on November 11, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Edwin Fryzel for 38 years. Phyllis was born on July 13, 1928 in Bristol, Connecticut to the late Michael and Mary (Osenkowski) Buczko and had been a longtime Southington resident. Phyllis’ early years were filled with the simple joys of music and the thrill of ice skating at Page Park. She enthusiastically pursued her artistic passion, studying at the School of Fashion Design in Boston where she mastered the art of sewing on her way to becoming a skilled seamstress. She later channeled her entrepreneurial spirit into running her own fabric store, also sharing her love of quilting as an instructor. Phyllis was a longtime parishioner at the Immaculate Conception Church, blending her faith and Polish heritage. She was active in both the Holy Rosary Society and the Immaculate Women’s Club, having led the latter as a past president. Phyllis was a true matriarch whose life was a testament to the power of unconditional love and selfless devotion. She was the cornerstone of our family, offering a boundless love that knit us closer together through every joy and hardship. Her wisdom guided us, her strength inspired us, and her warmth comforted us. She demonstrated a life of kindness, always placing the needs of others above her own. Her legacy of love, generosity, and grace will forever remain in our hearts and memories. Phyllis is survived by three daughters: Phyllis Dinucci and husband Frank of Wilton, Nancy Andres of Southington, and Linda Calvanese and husband Joe of Southington; seven grandchildren: Frank Dinucci (Lindsey), Ted Dinucci (Rebecca), David Andres, Kristina Marino (Brian), Joe Calvanese (Sarah), Mike Calvanese, and Elizabeth Calvanese; and eight great-grandchildren: Olivia, Emalee, William, Meredith, Frankie, Ava, Joey, and Lyla. She is also survived by her sister, Marion Mordarski of Southington, and many nieces and nephews. Nancy (Woodruff) Kannenberg, 87, of the Plantsville section of Southington, CT passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at HOCC, New Britain Campus. Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Kannenberg who predeceased her in 1998. Nancy was born on March 11, 1936 in Roxbury, CT to the late Ralph and Elsie (Smith) Woodruff. Nancy grew up in Roxbury and attended Roxbury and Washington Schools. She attended Oberlin College and earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Connecticut. Nancy worked as a French teacher in Southington Schools and also taught for many years at the Plantsville Congregational Nursery School. Nancy eventually retired from The Hartford Insurance Company. She had strong faith and was an active member of the Plantsville Congregational Church for over 50 years where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a past President of the Church Women United in Southington. Nancy enjoyed volunteering at The Bushnell, CPTV, and Red Cross Blood Drives. Nancy loved to travel and was proud to have visited every continent. She also enjoyed rooting for the UCONN Women’s Basketball team and attended the Final Four every year. She had an amazing network of friends with whom she loved playing cards for the last 50 years. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Cornish and husband Thomas of Southington and her grandson, Michael Cornish of Austin, TX, and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Robert, Nancy was predeceased by her brother, Donald T. Woodruff and sister, Cornelia "Neal" Straiton. Immacolata Brino, 97, of Schenectady, formerly of Southington, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 22, 2023. She was born and raised in Sant'Agata de'Goti, Italy. In 1966, she immigrated to Southington CT, where she raised her family and worked for JJ Ryan. She moved to Schenectady in 2020. Immacolata loved being outside, where she would garden, take walks, and do yard work. She loved helping others and enjoyed watching Mass, Wheel of Fortune, and movies on the Hallmark Channel. She was predeceased by her parents, Giuseppe and Elisabetta Della Ratta Mauro; her husband, Rinaldo Brino; and her siblings, Clementina, Clemente, Tommaso, Alessandro, Mario, and Vincenzo. Immacolata is survived by her children, Mary (Giovanni) Sgueglia, Gina (John) Ganther, and Pasquale (Linda) Brino; her grandchildren, John (Amy), Lisa, Cristina (Jason), John David, Nicholas, James, and Andrew; her great grandchildren, Gianna, Niara, Alex, Nadia, Chris, Arianna, Aiden; her sister, Genoeffa; and many nieces and nephews. Rodd S. Florian, 54, of Southington, CT passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. Born on July 1,1969 in Hartford to David and Honey (Meade) Florian, Rodd grew up in Plantsville, a constant companion to his three brothers, three sisters and many cousins, too numerous to count. He attended local schools, playing little league baseball, midget football and helping his father with construction projects that taught him skills he continued to develop through his landscaping business and building a summer home in Maine where he spent his happiest times. Rodd will be remembered as a man who practiced the art of small acts of kindness: picking flowers for his mother, planting lilies for a sister, taking nieces and nephews fishing, making popsicles for great nieces and nephews. He shared his love of the outdoors during summers in Maine with his large extended family; sighting eagles, messing around in boats and building large bonfires. In addition to his parents, Rodd is survived by five siblings: Lani Florian, Lori Florian, David Florian Jr. , Andrew Florian and wife Nancy and Heidi Florian and wife Maureen Gervais, sister-in-law, Michelle Florian and 11 loving nieces and nephews and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews. Rodd was predeceased by 2 brothers, Mark Florian and Mat Florian, his brother- in-law, Martyn Rouse and his nephew, Nicholas Florian.
