Robert Peters

Age - 73

December 9, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert G. "Bob" Peters, 73 year old resident of Wabasha, MN, formerly of Burbank, IL. He peacefully departed this life on December 5, 2023 at home with his loving wife of 45 years by his side. Bob was born in Chicago on May 11, 1950, to Albert & Florence (Eisen) Peters. He was raised in Marquette Park. After graduating from Saint Ignatius College Prep in 1968, he went on to earn a B. S in Biology from Illinois Benedictine College. In December 1972, Bob was drafted by the US Army. He spent two years in San Francisco where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, & the Sharpshooter (Rifle) Medal. Upon his honorable discharge in 1974, Bob completed post graduate work in entomology at the University of Illinois - Chicago. While there, in a plant physiology class, he met his love, Peggy Gibbs. Bob and Peggy married on April 22, 1978. Together they built a wonderful life and family in Burbank, IL. Bob was the Director of Public Heath for Stickney Township, a role he fulfilled for over 30 years. After his retirement in 2008, Bob focused his energy on building their dream home in Wabasha, MN. Although an unexpected medical event in 2013 changed their plans, Bob & Peggy faced each day together with love and laughter. Bob was a wonderful man of many talents. He was a charismatic soul with sharp wit and an excellent sense of humor. He was articulate, thoughtful, and could tell one hell of a story. Bob was no stranger to a good time, often the life of the party. Bob will be fondly remembered for his culinary and bartending skills, his woodworking & carpentry abilities, and his solid advice. Bob was well known in the auctioning community for his extensive knowledge of antiques and firearms, as well as far too many other topics to list. Bob is survived by his wife, Peggy; his three children, & eight grandchildren: Gary & Kelly (Lange) Peters, Emily, William, & Ellora of Burbank, IL; Jonathan & Paulina (Zurowska) Peters, Victoria, Adelynn, & Gabrielle; Gregory & Jessica (Peters) Yeaton, Finlay & Elwood; his older brother, Alan & Janet (Walsh) Peters; and many nieces & nephews and their families.
