Maxine Florey Obituary

Maxine Florey, age 92 of Virginia died Friday, May 5, 2023 in the Essentia Health - Deer River Hospital. She was born May 9, 1930 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Aubrey and Evelyn (Marlow) Carmichael. Maxine married Richard Florey on November 6, 1948 in Hammond, Indiana. They moved to Minnesota in 1970 to own and operate Florey's Floodwood Lake Resort. The last 15 years, Maxine lived in the Laurentian Manor in Virginia where she enjoyed friendship, fellowship, and delivered meals on wheels. She was an independent woman who loved to fish, mow the lawn on her riding lawnmower, and enjoyed traveling. She cherished her family, and attending her grandson's sporting events. Maxine is survived by her son: James (Janice) Florey of Eveleth; grandchildren: Christopher Florey of Mountain Iron, Mark (Valerie) Florey of Coon Rapids, and Zachary (Tasha) Kaminski of Longview, TX; great-grandchildren: Connor, Caystin, Weston, and Wyatt; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard, and daughter Kathy Kaminski. The Memorial Service will be held at 5:30pm on Monday, May 15, 2023 at the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home in Virginia. Deacon Dan Schultz will be the officiant.
