Maxine DiResta passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on June 17, 2022, with her daughters by her side. Beloved wife to Red DiResta, whom preceded her in death in 2003; loving mother to Janet Ratto and Katherine Miller, dear mother-in-law of Gregory Ratto and Marc Miller and cherished Nana of Kimberly Ratto Vaandrager (Nico Vaandrager), Kate Ratto (Sam Kimmey) and Lucas Miller. Born on June 28, 1925 to John and Vera Howard in Missouri, Maxine moved with her parents to San Francisco in 1944 where her father was a prison guard on Alcatraz Island. She ferried to and from San Francisco to work, where she met her beloved husband of 52 years, and raised her family; also working many years for the SF Unified School District. Maxine continued to live in her San Francisco home of 70 years. Most of all she treasured being with her family and spent many wonderful times with them at their Sonoma home, in Carmel, and joining on many trips. Maxine was loved by everyone through her kindness and compassion, and will be deeply missed. Her memory will always remain in our hearts.
