ECCLESIASTES 3:1-4 ---There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance Mr. Charles Lamont Stevenson, 42, was born in Iredell County on May 29, 1981, to Charles David Stevenson and Gloria Jean Oglesby Stevenson. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Charles was employed as a machine operator with NGK Ceramics USA Inc. Of Mooresville, NC. He was affectionately known as "Charles Rae" by his family and friends. His hobbies included playing basketball, reading, rapping, poetry, and music studio time. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Grover Oglesby; two grandmothers, Lucille Rivers, and Cora E. Stevenson; two sisters, Kimberly Oglesby, Chandera Nichols; one nephew, Christopher Oglesby; and his best friend, Cylus Chambers. He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his parents, Charles David Stevenson and Gloria Jean Oglesby Stevenson; two brothers, Michael Oglesby, and Darren Oglesby, both of Statesville, NC; one god sister, Ivy Gray of Statesville, NC; one niece, Kayla White of Statesville, NC; special companion, Correy Bailey; special friends, Ericka White, DeLeon Dalton, and Michael Torrence; three uncles, Odis (Vallie) Oglesby, Anthony Rivers, and Leon (Kimberly) Rivers Jr; special great aunt, Melinda Blackwell; aunts, Beverly Adams, Valerie Rivers, and Correll Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 1:30 p. m. at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont. Visitation will be from 12:30 p. m. - 1:30 p. m. at the church and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Minister Kayla M. Mrs. Sandra M. Smith of Statesville, NC passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at her home in Statesville, NC. She was born May 2, 1950, in Richmond, VA to the late Joseph H. and Naomi C. Brooking. She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, David S. Smith; sons, Erik K. Overby of Sandston, VA, Cpl Thomas E. Proffitt III, USMC of Ypsilanti, MI, and daughter, Tamatha E. Stewart (Randy) of Statesville, NC; 3 step-children, Amber G. Jimenez (Pablo) of Ft. Worth, TX, HM3 Brandon P. Smith, USN (Cynthia) of Olin, NC, and Nichole D. Fabela (Jesse) of Saginaw, TX; 4 grandchildren Brianna Vincent, Dameon Proffitt, Cody & Adalynn Stewart; 9 step-grandchildren, Makayla & Liliana Jimenez, Elijah, Lucas & Allison Smith, Madisyn Barnes, Sophia, Antonio, & Adrianna Fabela; 1 great step-granddaughter, Ila Sauceda. Mrs. Smith is also survived by her sister, Cathy B. Phillips (Mike) of Huntersville, NC; nephew, Joseph Phillips (Lydia) and many other extended family members. A Celebration of Life will be held at South River Baptist Church, 2659 S. Chipley Ford Road, Statesville, NC at 2:00 p. m. . on Monday, December 18, 2023. Virginia Cathryn Wolf, 79, passed peacefully surrounded by family after a hard fought battle with cancer. Born and raised a coal miner's daughter in Fairdale, WV, she was the 6th of 11 children. At 19, she rode a Greyhound bus across the country to join her sister, Joy and brother in law living near Vandenburg Airforce Base. There she met her husband of 60 years, Fred Wolf. Zigzagging the country following Fred's career, they raised 3 daughters in Gautier, MS. After she worked for many years taking care of children, "Ms. Cathy" started Kids Count Daycare in Gautier, MS. Anyone that met Cathy instantly knew she that she was full of love for her family, the bible, and was genuinely a good soul. Later moving to Woodlawn, Cathy and Fred built their dream home on a mountain top, where they enjoyed 20 years of retirement, doting on their grandchildren and being active members of Great Hope Baptist Church. In 2019, they moved to Statesville, NC to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. This loyal wife, mother, sister, and friend is preceded in death by her parents Claude and Faye Bailey Bunch, her grandson Trever Poole, sister Carol Sava, and brother Dwain Bunch. Survived by husband Frederick Wolf; daughters Christina Wolf, Deborah (Jim) Norton, and Kimberly Poole; grandchildren Megan (Matthew) Gallagher, Sarah Norton, Tyler Poole; and greatgrandson Xavier Poole along with many cherished siblings, family, and friends. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 11:00 am till 12:00 pm at Bunch Johnson Funeral Home with funeral services to follow also at the funeral home starting at 12:00 pm with Chaplin Teresa Smith Harris officiating. "HARMONY--Miss Sandra "Sandy" Lynn Briggs, 62, of Cedarvale Road, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville. She was born on February 6, 1961, in Essex County, MA, to the late Franklin Howard and Marilyn Lena Quance Briggs. Sandy graduated from Greater Lawrence Regional Vocational Technical High School in Andover, MA. Her first job was at Compugraphics and finished her career at Larson in Mocksville, after aspiring to move to North Carolina to be with her brother and work her final years. She also cared for her disabled mother for many years before her death. She was a very active member at Chestnut Grove Church and made many friends there. She loved her three kittens, Teddy, Blackjack, and Charlotte, and viewed them as her children. Sandy never got over the loss of Snickers, her Shetland pony that she loved so dearly. She enjoyed traveling, cruising, and spending time with her family and friends. The North Carolina Zoo was her favorite place to be. Sandy was very friendly, loved everyone, and would often bake cookies or brownies for those she did business with as a thank you. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Norma Briggs. Survivors include her brothers, William A. Briggs (Beverly) of New Hampshire and Rev. Bob Briggs (Sheryl) of Olin; five nieces and nephews, Ben, Jenny, Noel, Adam, and Meghanne; seven great-nieces and -nephews; Aunt Paulie and Uncle George; and special friends, Ray and Lauri Roy, Jude Jennings, and Janet Hamel. A celebration of life will be conducted at 3 p. m. Sunday, December 17, at Chestnut Grove Church, with Rev. Bob Briggs officiating.
