Maureen Swab passed away peacefully on Monday, October 2, 2023 at the age of 81, after years of increasing challenges due to Parkinson's disease, followed by a brief hospitalization which revealed pancreatic cancer. John, her loving husband of 56 years, managed her care at home right up until her last days, a gift she deeply appreciated. Through it all, she maintained the loving, witty, generous spirit that touched so many throughout her life. Rene was born September 13, 1942 in Geneva, NY to Theresa and Richard Moore. She met John working as a secretary at General Electric in Syracuse, where he worked as an Engineer. They married in 1967, moved to Baldwinsville, NY and had three children, Christopher, Jennifer, and Daniel. Rene was an active member of St. Mary's parish, volunteered at St. Mary's School where her children attended, and she later worked there as a secretary. She loved being around kids, and they were drawn to her warmth, humor, and kindness, just as her neighbors and friends were. Rene was creative, enjoyed decorating, crafting, and even started her own "candy bouquet" business. She and John moved to Webster, NY in 2007 and gave much of their time and attention to their grandchildren. They enjoyed spending winters in Florida with wonderful family and friends, and traveled around the US and Europe. In Webster, Rene volunteered with animal rescue, was a member of St. Paul's Church, and supported her kids and grandkids in all their endeavors. Maureen is survived by her husband, John, her three children, Chris (wife Lisa), Jen (husband Jack DeGrace), and Dan (wife Sanya), her sisters, Kathleen Westfall and Vicki Fricke, and her grandchildren, Ashley, Sam, Tessa, Kristen, and Collin. Friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on October 28 at 10:00 a. m. at St. Mary's Of The Assumption, 47 Syracuse St, Baldwinsville, NY. Memorials may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Joyful Rescues, or a charity of your choice.

Survived by children, Liz (Michael) Davies, Bruce Chapman, and John (Paula) Chapman; Grandchildren, Sadie, Justin ( Sarah), Kassie (Tyler), Holley, Zane (Ewa), Alison (Anthony), and Carly; Great- grandchildren, Loghan, Charlotte, Sophia and Parker Jean; Sister, Marilyn Nutting; Also, many other family and friends. Jeanne grew up in Ithaca and graduated from college with a degree in Retail Merchandising in 1948. Upon graduating she moved to Rochester and worked as a buyer for McCurdys. She met Carl on a blind date, and they married in 1955. They would spend their early married years working on their home, spending summers in Maine, and of course golfing. She was also a member of the Seton group which did fundraising for St. Mary's Hospital. She left the work force in 1962 to start their family. She continued her charity work during these years and was also involved at her church, girl scouts and numerous activities her children were involved in. In 1979 she returned to the work force as a gift buyer at the PWKH Wine Shop and Gift Arcade at Brighton's 12 Corners. She spent many hours volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House working on the gardens and helping out the with the families. She loved doing this and making new friends. Especially anyone who played Bridge, golfed or was a Red Sox fan. Not a week went by that there wasn't a group at our house playing cards. Together Jeanne and Carl traveled the US by car visiting 30 plus National Parks. There was always a map stretched out on the dining room table when they weren't entertaining friends. There were numerous trips to Boston and Ithaca to visit siblings and cousins. Jeanne was very involved with her grandchildren and super proud of the adults they became. She so loved spending time with them. And of course when the great grand children arrived she was beyond thrilled. We have been blessed as a family that we all live close by. Jeanne's calendar was always full, and she would have to check it see if she was available. I think her involvements in Family, friends, volunteering ,golf ,bridge playing, and baseball kept her living life to the fullest for 95 years. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her!
