Maureen A. Donoghue, 88, of Shrewsbury, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Maureen was predeceased by her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 64 years, Robert J. Donoghue. She leaves her children: Kathy Donoghue, of Worcester, Mike Donoghue and wife Cece, of Darien, CT, Beth White and husband Greg, of Boylston, Patty Durkin, of Worcester, Sue Donoghue and husband Dmitri Nayduch, of Brooklyn, NY; ten grandchildren: Chris White and wife Sunny, Jackie White Hughto and husband Bill, Mac Donoghue and wife Regan, Sean Donoghue and wife Marissa, Mara Donoghue and fiance Andrew Hatton, Liam Donoghue, Maeve Donoghue, Seamus Nayduch, Ivan Nayduch, and Bridget Nayduch; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Jack White; her sister-in-law, Pat Clifford and husband Ray; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Kenny Durkin. Maureen was born in Worcester, MA and spent her entire life in Shrewsbury. She was the daughter of the late Bernard "Bernie" and Mary (Gilhooly) McConville. She graduated from Ascension High School in 1953, and then graduated from St. Joseph's College in West Hartford, CT, achieving her B. S. in Nursing and, subsequently, a Master's in Chemistry, also at St. Joseph's. While at St. Joseph's, Maureen was known as "to bed at three up at five" and a tireless talker (as well as a great listener). She was also called "Madame President many times over," for her role as President of the National Student Nurses Association. Maureen devoted her entire professional career to nursing and helping others in need. She began her nursing career at Mass General Hospital in Boston, in the Med/Surg unit, and went on to work at Hahnemann and Memorial Hospitals in Worcester, all while raising five children. She eventually rose to become the Director of Clinical Nursing Education at Hahnemann Hospital, where she trained and mentored a generation of aspiring student nurses in the Worcester area. Throughout the years, she was consistently recognized by former students in hospitals and in the community, who remembered her as a role model for her compassion and dedication to her work and patients. Later in life, she worked as a hospice nurse, continuing her focus on caregiving and support for those in need. Maureen was a lifelong and faithful parishioner of St. Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury, where she was a Eucharistic Minister for many years. As a devoted mother to her special needs daughter, Kathy, she was a trailblazer in advocating for individuals with special needs, having worked at the Glavin Regional Center, and for many years, was President of FOR, an advocacy organization for individuals with developmental disabilities. She was actively involved in Mercy Centre, the Special Olympics, Seven Hills, and HMEA - the organizations that support the special needs community of Worcester and beyond. Maureen worked tirelessly to ensure that Kathy and others like her would be able to pursue a full and productive life. Maureen's vigorous support of Kathy's health, well-being and training, including endless hours counting laps while swimming, led to Kathy's significant achievements and numerous gold medals at Special Olympics events over 50 years. Through all of Maureen's accomplishments, her true passion and commitment was always her family. The home that she and Bob built in Sunapee, NH became a focal point in many happy and memorable gatherings, where family and friends alike were enthusiastically welcomed. Maureen will always be remembered for her selflessness, humility, strong faith, and unconditional love. Bessie Paskalis

Bessie (Andrews) Paskalis, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Bessie was born on January 9, 1938, to Soterios (Gastouni, Greece) and Helen (Lembesis) Andreanopoulos (Andrews) and lived in Dracut, MA as a young child until her family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. Bessie embraced her new life as a "southern belle" and the Greek community centered around St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wilmington. It was here that friendships were formed that lasted through the decades. She also found a new love--one that she eventually shared with her own family--and they with theirs--Wrightsville Beach. Bessie never swam but spent countless hours at the beach with her friends and family soaking up the sun and posing for pictures. It was a place she quickly introduced to her husband-to-be, Peter, after they met. Once he got over the shock that he could not order a scotch (dry county at the time); he too fell in love with both the beach and Bessie. Bessie graduated from New Hanover High School, Wilmington, NC in 1955 and attended Miller Mott Business College. After graduation she went to work at North Carolina National Bank for Louis Perry, a Senior VP at the bank. It was here that she honed her aptitude for numbers and finance. In 1964, she attended an AHEPA convention in Toronto, Canada with her partners in crime, Dorothy and Jackie, and met her husband of 57 years, Peter Paskalis. Less than a year later in May of 1965, she married "Pete" and traded in her bathing suits for snow boots and moved "up north" to Shrewsbury where they began their lives together. In January of 1965, Pete had opened the Shrewsbury Pizzaria, a business that they owned and operated for almost 50 years before retiring in 2014. Pete never hesitated to credit Bessie for their success; she handled the money and he the "dough". Once their children left home, Bessie could also be found behind the counter, manning the cash register or making grinders. Even though Bessie had lived in MA for many years, she had never lost her southern twang. People constantly commented, "you are not from here," which always brought a coy smile to her face. She loved sports and adopted her husband's love of New England sports teams--to the chagrin of her brothers, especially the Yankees fan. Even with a business to run and two daughters to keep a watchful eye over, Bessie and Pete had a standing Saturday night date, which they kept into their 80s. Bessie coveted these nights as they were an opportunity to get "dressed up" and enjoy the company of friends. Although it may sound cliche, family was always the most important part of Bessie's life. She adored her three brothers, encouraged her daughters to live independently, and loved her two grandsons Connor and Brian with all her heart and soul. Bessie was a great storyteller and regaled her family with stories about singing, bouzouki playing, and Greek dancing at home with her grandparents, parents, brothers and assorted relatives. Family is Bessie's legacy. Bessie was predeceased in death seven months ago by her beloved husband of 57 years, Peter Paskalis. She leaves behind two daughters who love her to the moon and back, Anne Marie Paskalis of Shrewsbury and Cynthia (Paskalis) Batchelder of Fort Lauderdale, FL; her grandsons Connor and Brian Batchelder of Fort Lauderdale, FL; her brothers George Andrews (wife Georgia) of Charlotte, NC and the late Andrew Andrews (wife Zoe) and Peter Andrews of Charlotte, NC. Her brothers in law Steve Paskalis (wife Beverly) of Jupiter, FL, Stewart Paskalis and the late Thomas Paskalis (late wife Carol) of Worcester and sister-in-law Maria (Paskalis) Zekos (late husband Greg) of Holden along with cousins and many nieces and nephews. In the last few months of her life, Bessie was blessed with caretakers who showered her with love and laughter. Her family would like to thank Cynthia, Nana, Mary, and Izzy for helping Bessie smile again. Also, the family would like to thank the aides and the staff of the Residence at Orchard Grove for their continued kindness and Jewish Healthcare Hospice for their support. Joyce M. (Tozeski) Roy, 80, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, November 27, 2023 at Christopher House of Worcester. She leaves her husband of 51 years, George A. Roy; her devoted daughters, Stephanie Collins and husband Thomas R. , of Millbury, and Dr. Nicole M. Roy and husband Jeffrey A. Stuart, of Fairfield, CT; her beloved brother, Stanley Tozeski and wife Clare, of Westborough; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Joyce was born in Webster, daughter of the late Stanley S. and Stasia (Sak) Tozeski. She was raised and educated in Shrewsbury, as a graduate of Shrewsbury High School. She worked for many years as a Pharmacy Technician for the former Fallon Clinic on Plantation Street, retiring in 1998. In her free time, Joyce enjoyed socializing and watching movies with friends, and camping on the Battenkill River in Vermont. Patricia Bryan Wyner (nee Patricia Berry Bryan) passed away on November 16, 2023, in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Born in 1946 to Virgil Gaines Bryan Jr. and Catherine "Pete" Bryan, Patty was raised in Huntington, West Virginia. A graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, she earned a degree in Accounting, and subsequently moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she was one of only a handful of female accountants hired to work at Coopers & Lybrand. She met David Eliot Wyner (1944-2020) in Boston. Patty and David enjoyed 49 years of marriage, raising two sons in Southborough and Northborough, Massachusetts. The couple managed various enterprises over the years, notably the Westborough Tennis Club and the Shrewsbury Racquet Club, with David managing the clubs and Patty managing the front desk and bookkeeping. The two of them also enjoyed playing bridge together and entertaining in their home. As a young family, the Wyners loved spending summers with relatives and friends in Orleans, Cape Cod, where they frequented Nauset Beach and watched Orleans Cardinals games. In later years, the family also spent time on Nantucket, where David oversaw the Brant Point Racquet Club. Patty was an avid hiker, who became part of a select group of people to hike every 4,000-foot mountain in the White Mountains. She was fond of traveling with her group of hiking friends on adventures in Zermatt, Switzerland; Moab, Utah; Acadia National Park in Maine; and Alaska. Patty was particularly close with her two boys, Christopher and Michael. More than a mom, she was also a good friend to them both. Patty and Michael had fun visiting New York City together to see Broadway shows and visit museums. They also enjoyed riding their bikes together on various rail trails in Massachusetts. Patty adored spending time with Christopher and his family whenever possible, including visits to Illinois, and holidays at home in Massachusetts. She was always game for fun activities with her grandchildren, including pickleball, attending Northwestern football and basketball games, and even visiting trampoline parks. Patty was active at The Congregational Church of Westborough for many years, volunteering to manage the church's finances alongside her dear friend, Suzanne Arpante. She is survived by her son, Christopher B. Wyner, and his wife Emily, of Kenilworth, Illinois, and their children, Catherine and Willam; her son Michael D. Wyner, and his wife Stanislava, of Boston, Massachusetts; her brother Peter B. Bryan, and his wife Susan, of Taylor, Texas; her brother Virgil Gaines Bryan III and his wife Gail, of Commerce, Texas; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, all of whom were very dear to her. LEOMINSTER----Norma Louise (Hager) Castriotta, 95, of Jupiter, Florida, formerly of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 18, 2023. Born in Fitchburg on March 19, 1928, to Robert and Evelyn (Clark) Hager, Norma leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and selfless service. Norma was a graduate of Leominster High School where she demonstrated a passion for English and literature. Deeply devoted to her family, Norma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a talent for transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary memories, and she delighted in preparing delicious meals and baked goods for loved ones. Norma took immense pleasure in entertaining guests, turning every gathering into a celebration of cherished company. Norma was a strong woman of faith who was known for her generous heart and service to others. She was a member of St. Francis Church in Holden and the Church of the Good Shepherd in Tequesta, Florida. She was a member of the St. Francis Altar Guild, Worcester Music Guild, Worcester Art Museum, and the WISE Group of Assumption University. Norma offered her time and talents to touch the lives of many as a long-time volunteer of Holden District Hospital and the Home Delivered Meals program of Jupiter, Florida. Norma's legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched through her volunteer work and in the memories created by her enduring acts of kindness. Paul Michael Kuda, age 64, of Shrewsbury, MA passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Paul was born 1959 in Ridgewood, New Jersey, son of the late John and Mary (Kasperzak) Kuda. Paul attended Acton-Boxborough High School where he was captain of the 1977 basketball team. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force, honorably discharged and a disabled veteran. Paul had a strong Christian faith and was an avid reader. Paul will be remembered for his big heart, always smiling, willing to volunteer and help others. Jean E. (Miller) Latti, 90, of Auburn, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, November 11, 2023. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leonard J. Latti, Sr. , in April of 2001. She leaves her son, Leonard J. Latti, Jr. , of Worcester; along with several loving grandchildren, including Charlene Dumas, of North Providence, RI. Jean was predeceased by her son, Philip J. John "Sandy" MacLeod passed away on Friday November 3, 2023 at the age of 70 after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer. Sandy was born in Worcester to his parents, John MacLeod II & Pearl (Bergstrom) MacLeod Pugliese on May 31, 1953. Sandy is survived by his 95-year old mother, Pearl, and was predeceased by his father, John, who passed away in 1993. Sandy leaves behind his daughter, Jamie Hawley and her husband Ryan Hawley of Northborough, two grandsons Benjamin and Austin Hawley, his son Michael MacLeod, his sister Deborah (MacLeod) Richard of Worcester, and his nieces and nephews Brian Richard and his wife Jessica of Lunenburg, Diandra Blackwood of Boston, and Jessica Richard and her fiance Adam Caruso of Palmer. Sandy is also survived by his former wife, Debra (Barrell) MacLeod of ShrewsburySandy's roots remained in Shrewsbury throughout his life. He grew up near Dean Park, graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1971 and spent over 40 years serving as a Shrewsbury Police Officer. When he wasn't patrolling the town with his iced coffee, even in the dead of winter, he was cheering on the Red Sox or the Patriots, collecting coins, or spending summer days at his favorite place, Cape Cod. Joseph Siauris

Joseph "Joe" Siauris passed away on November 5th at the age of 89. He was born in Worcester to Mary and Joseph Siauris on July 3, 1934 and grew up with his two loving sisters, Diana Comeau and Marion Morin. He was married to the love of his life, Lucille Schwartz, for 49 years and together they had two children, Joe and Christine. He was most proud of his two granddaughters, Rachel and Sydney, and his favorite memories were of the times he spent with them on Cape Cod. Joe proudly served in the Air Force and received several distinguished service awards. After being honorably discharged in 1956, Joe attended Laredo Junior College in Texas and graduated from Burdett College in Boston with a degree in Accounting. He worked for Thom McAn for 34 years. In retirement, Joe enjoyed going to the casino with friends, dining out, fishing with his son, and participating in activities sponsored by the Good Grief Group. Though his accident in 2016 left him paralyzed, Joe maintained his humor and enjoyed joking with the staff at Overlook Nursing Home who went above and beyond to care for him. A Boston sports fan through and through, he rarely missed watching a game. Joe will be remembered at a small private service at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home. Larry "Ladislav" Frank Skala, died peacefully at home on November 3, 2023 after a short bout with an extremely aggressive lung cancer. He was born on July 22,1936 in Queens, New York, the son of Joseph and Agnes (Stuchlik) Skala and grew up in Rockland County, New York. He graduated from Farmingdale State College, SUNY in Farmingdale, New York after which he proudly served in the United States Army. He worked for thirty-one years at Phillips Research Labs in Briarcliff, New York. He leaves behind his loving wife, of twenty-six years, Ruth Rose Skala, as well as his daughter, Donna Gelormino and husband Phil of Monroe, New York, his son, Stephen Skala and wife Patti of Nanuet, New York, his four stepchildren, Colin, Jennifer, Melanie, Geoffrey. He leaves four grandchildren, Kristen and Philip Gelormino, Abbie and Keira Skala, step grandsons, Jacob and Cooper as well as his two nieces and many cousins and of course his devoted dog, Gus. He was predeceased by his older brother, Joseph Skala. After retirement, Larry and Ruth lived in North Carolina, Bridgeville, Delaware, then finally moving to the Southgate Community in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Larry will always be remembered for his love for life and people, his quick wit and his skilled accordion playing as well as his delicious cooking and bountiful gardening. As an avid sports fan Larry devoted many hours to either playing or watching baseball. He brought a special joy to all that knew him. Robert "Bobby" Francis Joseph Donahue, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the loving home of his parents, Robert E. and Janice A. (Tougas) Donahue, in Northborough. Bobby was a vibrant, outgoing, and thoughtful son, sibling, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend who was deeply loved and will be immensely missed. He was born in Tampa, Florida in June of 1988, and was raised in Northborough, where he graduated from Algonquin Regional High School. Bobby then attended and graduated from Quinsigamond Community College, with an Associate's degree in Business Administration. Bobby had a wealth of knowledge of animals, music, art, and movies. He worked for a number of years as a sales representative for a pet nutrition company and would later run dog day care centers. His jobs always involved animals which he loved so much. He and his family love his dogs, Penny, a beautiful basset hound and Zoey, a feisty miniature dachshund. Bobby's bond with his parents was very strong. He would call his "muma" almost every day. He told his friends that his dad was his best friend. Family was all so important to Bobby. He always found time to listen and share his stories. Aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews were always in his thoughts and he checked on family news almost every day. He found humor in the everyday, and with his quick wit, self-deprecating manner, and compassionate generosity, he made people always feel comfortable. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Leo and Rita (Renaud) Tougas, and John and Mary (O'Neill) Donahue. Besides his parents, Bobby leaves his sister, Nora M. Biggins and her husband Luke, of Northborough; his nieces, Lucy and Anna; and nephew, Leo; along with numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles, including Susan and Richard Leahy, and Stephen and Lynn Tougas.
