Matthew John Abbott, Jr. , 72, of Independence Twp. , passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023. He was born on July 18, 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA a son of the late Matthew and Antoinette "Randy" Abbott. Matthew was a retired carpenter from Local Union 142 and he proudly served in the U. S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jo Abbott. Matthew is survived by his wife Donna (Smith) Abbott; three children, Ashley Abbott, (Nick Forgione) and Matthew Abbott, (Rachel Szelc), Theresa Smith and a grandson, Trey Smith. His brother Bernie and wife Chrissy Abbott. A sister/brother in law Linda and Dante Tessore and many nieces and nephews. There will not be a public viewing, however, a Celebration of Matthew's Life will be held at the Abbott Residence September 23rd at 3:00pm. "The Angels have come down from heaven to escort our beloved mother, Helen, home to be with the Lord. Helen (Olach) Trombetta, 85, of Aliquippa was blessed to have shared Thanksgiving Day with her beloved family before she peacefully passed away November 24, 2023, in her home with her loving family by her side. She was born January 10, 1938, in West Aliquippa and is the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Kantancik) Olach. Helen was joyfully reunited with her beloved husband of 57 years, Vincent A. Trombetta, Sr. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Marianne (John) Tuffie and Josephine Matesic. Two nieces: Patricia (Tuffie) Roberts, Lorraine Matesic, a nephew, Milton Rheem, two sisters-in-law: Diane Trombetta and Connie (Louis) LaPietra. Helen led a beautiful life that emphasized her faith in God. She was a faithful member of Mary Queen of Saints Parish, St. Titus Church, Aliquippa and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Her most favorite focus in life was her family, dedicating herself to taking care of those she loved and practicing in her words "family first" in her everyday life. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, taking cruises with him and their friends. Helen was the consummate hostess, preparing delicious meals for her friends and family to enjoy. She is survived by her family that she cherished. Two daughters: Lisa Trombetta and Becky Trombetta, two sons and two daughters-in-law: Vincent (Elizabeth) Trombetta, Jr. and Christopher (Cynthia) Trombetta; six grandchildren that she adored: Taylor (Ryan), Vanessa (Elliot), Jordan, Gabriella, Michael and Gianna, great grandchildren: Evalina Rose, Nora Elizabeth and her nieces, nephews who she loved like her children. The family would like to specially thank and recognize her daughters who took exceptional care of Helen at home until her passing. They would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Linnie Sabutucci, her special caregiver, and to the Gateway Hospice and their nurses, Amber and Sierra, and her aides Irona, Jo and Jo Ellen. Regis Alexander Sr. , 96, formerly of Aliquippa, PA, passed away peacefully, Friday, November 17, 2023, at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehab, East Palestine, OH. Regis was born July 8, 1927, in Aliquippa, to the late John and Barbara Alexander. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served his country in WWII and retired from J&L Steelworks, Aliquippa. Regis was a member of Mary, Queen of Saints Parish, St. Titus Church, Aliquippa, where he served faithfully as an usher. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who loved the simple things in life. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Bob) Downes; his son, Regis Alexander Jr. ; son-in-law, William (Jamie) Diamond; grandchildren, Stephanie (Donnie) Fazenbaker, Dana (Austin) Carr, Adam (Ashley) Diamond, and Brandon (Ashley) Alexander, and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Rose (Schicchetano) Alexander, and Eva (Oddis) Alexander; daughters, Donajean Diamond, and Mary Ann Alexander; grandsons, Shane Diamond and Regis Alexander III, and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Alexander. James J. Agich, 85 EAST LIVERPOOL, OH - James J. Agich, of Calcutta, formerly of Aliquippa, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at the Valley Oaks Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was 85. Born in Aliquippa, August 2, 1938, he was a son of the late Charles "Chuck" and Mary Mikovich Agich. Jim graduated from Aliquippa High School where he was a member of the football team. He continued his education at Geneva College and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in education. He played football for the Tornados and was recognized as one of its top 50 players of all time. While attending college, Jim worked part-time at J&L Steel. He was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved his dogs. He began his teaching career in 1965 with the Beaver Local School District. He taught history, driver's education, and was the OWE Coordinator. His love of athletics continued and he coached football for many years and also served as the Athletic Director. In addition, he was a member of the NEA and was a past president of the Beaver Local Education Association. Jim retired from Beaver Local after 30 years of service. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Faltenovich and her husband, John, of Aliquippa, and a brother, Dr. George J. Agich of Austin, Texas, a stepdaughter, Sandy Walgate and her husband, Robert, a stepson, Mike Linville, two grandsons, Rob Walgate and his wife, Rachel, and Jake Walgate and his wife, Karolynn, as well as four great-grandchildren, RJ, Rosalyn, Kendall, and Jordan, along with two nephews, Charles Faltenovich and Nicholas Agich. Fr. Leo Wehrlin will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Parish at 11:00 a. m. November 29th. Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a. m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Immediately following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Aliquippa. "Milka (Cokic) Vucetich, 91 of Aliquippa, lovingly known as "Babi" passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2023, with her devoted family by her side. Born April 14, 1932, in Donji Budacka, Yugoslavia, daughter of the late Petar and Angelija (Pavkovic) Cokic. She immigrated in 1957 to the United States to join her husband, Mile, and built their home together in Aliquippa. Determined to help and provide for her family, she worked at various places throughout her life including Paul's Bakery, Phoenix Glass (currently Anchor Hockey), and Homestead Industries until her retirement. She was a member of the Serb National Federation, St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church, Former Roosevelt Lodge 127 (currently 123), St. Elijah Kolo Srpske Sestare (KSS), where she was honored Kuma in 2012. She was known for being an amazing cook and baker and was very active in the noodle and nut roll operations for the KSS. Milka will be sadly missed by her children: Mirko Vucetich and Diane and Robert P. Baron, Sr. Four grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Maria (Hixenbaugh) and Anthony Domenick, Nicole Hixenbaugh and fiance Nicholas Korach, Natasha Vucetich and Petar Vucetich, one very special great-grandson Craig Domenick, her brother Nikola Cokic, many Kumovi and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mile Vucetich, two sisters and brothers-in law: Zorka (Cane) Todoric, Danica (Nikola) Trbojevic and a brother Mirko Cokic, all residing in Croatia. Friends will be received Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home, 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa from 3pm to 8pm. A service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11:00 am in St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church, Aliquippa. Fr. Branislav Golic will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Cemetery, Hopewell Township. Pomen (blessing service) will be Wednesday, October 25th at 7:30pm. in the funeral home.
