ObituaryKenneth Gann, 83, passed away at 8:40 am at the Vici Nursing Home in Vici, Oklahoma. Kenn or Kenny was born on June 20, 1940 in Boise City, Oklahoma to M. S. "Sebren" and Pearl "Weaver" Gann. He attended Boise City schools until he graduated in 1958. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Boise City on December 7, 1958. He helped with harvest from the time he was 13 until he enlisted into the Army on September 5, 1962. After an injury in 1965, he was transferred to the Army Reserve where he was honorably discharged on September 4, 1968 with an E4 ranking. He received his Expert Badge for rifle and machine gun during the time he was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. After his time on active duty, Kenn worked a multitude of jobs which included driving buses for Continental Trailways. While working for Trailways, he transported football, basketball, baseball and softball teams as well as cheerleaders, coaches, bands and choirs for high schools, colleges and churches from all over Texas and Oklahoma. Just before Greyhound bought out Continental Trailways, he decided to try his hand at running his own charter line with the help of a partner. After things didn't work out, he worked for Gotta Go Express and retired from Overland Charters out of Ft. Worth, Texas. Through his work, he traveled all of the 50 states and Canada. Of all of his travels, his most memorable trips were with the football teams(especially Higgins High School-Higgins, Texas), the church ski trips to Colorado and a choir that always requested "Mr. Trailways" for their trips. Kenn was married 3 times in his lifetime. The first 2 marriages gave him 5 children: Todd Daniel, GayCheree, Karl Sebren, an unnamed son and Shannon Lucile. Those children gave him 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 nephews: Brad and Sharon Gann of Monument, Colorado and Roger and Margaret Gann of Edmond, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother(Nathan Gann), sister-in-law(Alice Adams), a grandson, most of his cousins and all of his uncles and aunts. Kenn is being cremated and his remains will be placed at the Boise City cemetery at a later date. If you would like to join the family in doing a moment of remembrance or prayer and the release of a balloon from where ever you are, the family and friends will be doing the same from where ever they are on Friday October 20th at 7 pm central time. Evelyn Johnson-Baird

Evelyn Johnson-Baird

Age - 87

October 27, 2023

Evelyn Joan (Sweet) Johnson-Baird, daughter of Ralph and Iva (Lynes) Sweet, was born near Vici, Oklahoma on January 5, 1936. Evelyn was the youngest of eight children. She went to the Lord on October 26, 2023. Evelyn attended Vici Public Schools where she played basketball and was the high school band majorette. She was a proud member of the Class of 1954. Evelyn kept in touch with her classmates and decorated a car each year for her classmates to ride in the Vici Homecoming parade. During high school, Evelyn fell in love with Leland Johnson and they married on May 23, 1954 at The First Christian Church of Vici. Three children--Joni, Kenton, and Rae Ann--blessed this happy union. Evelyn was an exceptional mother, but she kicked into high gear when she became a grandmother. She started making baby quilts five years before her first grandchild was born. "Honey" loved the first one, Luke Kruse, with pure devotion and with each additional grandchild--Kelsey Kruse, Sam Stallings, Kait Johnson, and Sydney Johnson--her love multiplied. Evelyn will be remembered by her family and friends for her outgoing personality and love of creating--sewing her children's clothes, custom cake decorating, gardening, woodworking, quilting, and interior design. Decades before Pinterest or Martha Stewart, Evelyn was throwing themed parties with homemade invitations, matching cakes, decorations, and fun costumes. She and Leland were active with everything involving their children--especially coaching little league at Kid's Inc. in Woodward, OK--and later, never missed a high school ball game. After the children graduated, Leland and Evelyn were members of the National Horseshoe Pitching Association and very busy in state and national competitive horseshoe pitching. Evelyn held the state record for the highest percentage of ringers in a game. Leland preceded Evelyn in death on May 24, 1992. Evelyn's brother-in-law, Edwin Johnson, had recently lost his wife. It was a difficult time for both Evelyn and Ed, and they found consolation in each other. They were already "family" so it was a natural thing for them to marry on March 13, 1994. Ed passed away May 6, 2009. Evelyn later met L. D. Baird and was immediately smitten. After dating for a few weeks, they married on March 27, 2011. L. D. was a constant companion during her last years. Her children joked that Evelyn was "really good" at picking husbands as all three were jewels. Aside from her family, Evelyn cherished the friendships that meant so much to her. She loved to play cards with her dear friends Anita and Vernon Peck; Chub and Joy Shaw; or take girl trips with Lynda Peck and Bonnie Cole. She was blessed with a lifetime of beloved friends who brought her so much joy and laughter. Evelyn managed The Angel's Loft and considered this volunteerism as an extension of her life-long service to the Vici First Christian Church. Her faith in God sustained her throughout the hard times and enriched her good times. She was involved with the Vici First Christian Church for almost nine decades and loved the people she worshipped with her entire life. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Leland Johnson and Edwin Johnson; daughter Joni (Johnson) Stallings; six siblings; lots of brothers-in law, sisters-in law; and a few nieces and nephews. Evelyn is survived by L. D. Baird, her children and their spouses--Kenton and Betty Johnson of Norman and Rae Ann and Tim Kruse of Stillwater. Grandchildren Luke and Ashley Kruse; Kelsey and Chazz Grey; Sam Stallings; Kait Johnson, and Sydney Johnson. Her great grandchildren are Lexi Kruse, Silas Kruse, Autumn Grey, and Rory Grey. She is also survived by her sister, Lena Mae Regan, many nieces, nephews, and more friends than one can imagine To plant Memorial Trees in memory of , please .Show more

Sherrill White

Sherrill White

Age - 86

October 2, 2023

Sherrill Willard White of Vici, Oklahoma was the son of Claude and Verna (Moss) White. He was born at the family home in Vici on January 29, 1937. Sherrill was the ninth child with four sisters and four brothers to pattern his life after. Sherrill died October 1, 2023, at Vici with his family by his bedside. He was 86 years old. Sherrill grew to manhood one block from the Vici Public School. He graduated from high school in 1955. He enjoyed sports, quail hunting, band, Future Farmers of America and miscellaneous activities that he preferred to not discuss. It was during this time in his life that a young lady became his major interest. She was the one responsible for him to start focusing on lifetime matters, such as higher education and matters of livelihood. The love of his life transferred to Vici School in elementary school. He married Wanda Allene Care on January 16, 1954. Sherrill and Wanda were the parents of four sons: Neil, Bryan, Mori and Jon Arron. Sherrill and Wanda joined the General Assembly and Church of the First Born on Easter Sunday in 1954. Sherrill and Wanda pursued a college degree together at Southwestern State College. Sherrill completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree in three years. It was at this time that he started his much-desired position as basketball and baseball coach. His major degree was in Business Education, and he taught business classes for eight years as well as coached athletics. His basketball teams were quite successful, and he became well known as a basketball coach. He coached two boys as All State in basketball and two Alternate All Staters in a period of eight years. Putnam was state runner-up in 1965. The final 4 years thru 1966 Putnam was rated number 1 in class C basketball. The Daily Oklahoman newspaper recognized him for not losing a home game for three consecutive years. Sherrill became Superintendent of Putnam Schools in the final three years of his tenure at Putnam. He was employed at Seiling Public Schools following his Putnam employment. It was here that he was successful in writing the first fully funded education program known as PACE, (Project to Advance Creativity in Education). This curriculum emphasized the needs of the American Indian and was fully funded for Custer, Blaine, Woodward and Dewey Counties. The Oklahoma State Department of Education employed Sherrill as a curriculum development specialist. He was an employee of the State Department of Education for the following 24 years. In 2015 Sherrill was inducted into the Dewey County Historical Society Hall of Fame. Sherrill and Wanda moved to Vici and began enjoying their farm and ranch west of Vici. Sherrill enjoyed many happy hours working with his sons on the farm. I'm sure his sons would agree that at times it wasn't all that happy. And of course, going to all the ball games in the area. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Wanda of 69 years; his sons Bryan and wife Marilyn, Mori and wife Teri, Arron and wife Stacey; grandchildren Amy White, Kelsey and Cody Kenny, Craig and Becca White, Chris White, Cory and Jade White, Kale and Alyssa White, Alexa and Justin Lecrone, Sierra and Kaleb Roach and Keaton White; great grandchildren Koda, Jaylee, Gracelynn, Emily, Sam, and Leo White, Jaxon Kenny and Luke White; bonus grandchildren Aspen Cook, Linsey and Kyle Kennedy. Preceding him in death are his parents and son Neil White. Sherrill's extended family included all his church family and all his former students that he loved dearly. Those siblings that had gone on before were very important in his life. Brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews, he loved them all.
