Linda Ellen Riley May 24, 1947-Febuary 28, 2024 Linda Ellen Riley, 76, of Rochester, NY died on February 28 2024. Linda was known and beloved by many people and many names. Lala, Mom, Best friend, Sister, Aunt and Wife to name a few. Soft spoken but with an infectious laugh, Linda always made people around her feel safe, warm, and loved. Although life threw its share of challenges at her, Linda remained her bright, loving, and radiant self to the very end. Linda passed peacefully surrounded by those she truly loved, and who loved her. Linda is survived by her husband Stephen C. Riley, and Children Stephen, Kelly (spouse Robert Braun), David (spouse Brittany) and Jamie (spouse Jason McCormick). She also leaves behind twelve beloved grandchildren. Friends may call Sunday (March 3rd) 1-4 PM at Vay- Schleich & Meeson, 1075 Long Pond Road. Her Funeral Service will be held at Greece Assembly of God Church, Monday March 4th at 10:00 AM. ROCHESTER, NY – February 28, 2024 Mr. Battle Sr. was born May 1, 1951 in Akron, OH. He is the son of the late Jonnie Battle and the late Ruth (Wilson) Battle. He married Gloria Thomas. Deacon & Trustee Roy K. Battle, Sr. transitioned to be with the Lord on February 28, 2024. He was a founding member of Christian Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, the first African Church in Henrietta NY, where he served faithfully as a Deacon, Trustee, Secretary of the Sunday School, Men's Fellowship, and the Royal Echoes Men's Choir. He also graciously served in other capacities as needed. He worked for Xerox Corporation for many years and retired from the Rochester City School District where he was a teacher. He is survived by; his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria Thomas Battle; daughter, Renee' Kianna Battle; son, Roy K. Battle, Jr. and a host of additional relatives, friends, and church family. The viewing will be Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 549 Clarissa Street, Rochester, NY. The Funeral Service to Celebrate his life will immediately follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment at the convenience of the family.

Rochester- Janice “Jazzy Jan” Marlene Kiefer, age 77, passed away February 23, 2024, at strong memorial hospital. She was born in Dansville, a daughter of the late Glenn and Ethel (Harvey) Kiefer. She was also predeceased by her brother Larry Kiefer. Jan was a 1964 graduate of Dansville Central School; she went on to earn her associate degree. She worked as a graphic artist for the Xerox Corporation in Rochester for many years. In her free time Jan loved to draw, and she loved music. Her claim to fame was attending the original Woodstock Festival in Bethel, NY in 1969. She is survived by her sister Lois Sciotti, and several nieces and nephews. Richard Leonard (Dick) McGlynn (86) of Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024, in Rochester surrounded by family and friends after a protracted illness and multiple resilient recoveries. Dick McGlynn was born in Rochester on August 7, 1937, the fifth of eight children born to Leonard and Margaret McGlynn. Calling hours, a service, and a reception will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Calling hours are 11:00-1:00 at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road, Penfield, NY . The service begins at 1:00 at the same location. Following the service, please join family and friends for a reception at Joey’s Pasta House, 1789 Penfield Road, Penfield, NY from 2:00-4:00. Dick graduated from Aquinas Institute in 1955, and from the University of Rochester in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. Richard’s career began with J.J. Newberry Co. department store working in rural New York from Saranac Lake to Catskill, and then Penn Yan, where he met and fell in love with his future wife, Barbara McGlynn. Dick and Barbara made their home in Rochester, where Richard spent the rest of his career working with Theatre Confections. He found his passion volunteering with Gilda’s Club after his initial experience with cancer. Richard devoted much of his non-family and friend time to Gilda’s Club (now Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s) and the community it supports. His years of dedication, empathy, and hard work were recognized with the Heroes Award from Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s in 2022. Richard loved his family and friends deeply and devoted his life to them. His hobbies included woodworking, carpentry, landscape photography, and the great outdoors, where he enjoyed a wide range of activities including canoeing, hiking, biking, and boating. Dick was loved deeply and will be missed very much by all of those who knew him. Memories of his heart and spirit will be cherished by his extensive family and friends. Richard McGlynn was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard McGlynn and Margaret McGlynn, and siblings, Albert McGlynn (Geraldine), Shirley Cashion (William), John (Ivy and Noreen), and Patrick (Mary). Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Rochester NY; siblings Nancy Weber (Cyrus), Kathleen Rohring (James), Leonard (Laurie Ammering), and sister-in-law, Patricia Hatch. He is also survived by his children, Anne Hossenlopp (Joseph) of Rochester, NY, Brian McGlynn (Kendall) of Queenstown, New Zealand, Ellen McGlynn (David Eckler) of Melrose MA, Robert McGlynn (Meridith) of Greenwich CT, and Kevin McGlynn (Kristin) of Portland, ME, as well as grandchildren, Katrina, Andrew, and Jessica Hossenlopp; Eoin, Marin, and Isla McGlynn; Liam and Maura Eckler; Everett McGlynn, and Seamus McGlynn. Dick is also remembered by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends. Barb was born February 3, 1939 in Albion, New York the daughter of the late James and Irene (Wahl) McGee. Barbara loved to spend time with her family and friends. Her door was always open for a long visit. She also loved to crochet. She loved to make newborn sets for the children of family and friends. In her spare time she was an avid Bingo enthusiast and she loved to shop at the Made in America store. Barb married the love of her life, Richard Howard, on August 22, 1959. Together they raised 4 wonderful children and enjoyed many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at the Genesee County Nursing Home until her retirement. Surviving is her husband, Richard Howard of Bergen; children, Deborah (Donald) Fogg of Bergen, NY Richard (Sarah) Howard Jr. of Hopkinton, Iowa, Cynthia (Dean) Leffel of Batavia, NY, and J.O. “James Oliver” (Karen) Howard of Hulberton, NY; 9 grandchildren, D.R. Fogg, Devin Fogg, Amanda Chadsey, Joshua Howard, Daniel Neal, Matthew Neal, Abigail Regan, Racheal Howard, and Benjamin Howard; 11 great grandchildren, her beloved hairdresser and surrogate daughter, Maria (Rob) Rowland, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In death Barb is reunited with her parents, James and Irene McGee, and brothers, James and Anthony “Pat” McGee. Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.E. Turner & Co., Inc. Richard Barie

Richard “Dick” Barie of East Bethany passed away on Saturday Feb. 17 th at Strong Memorial Hospital. Dick was born March 18, 1943 in Batavia NY, the son of the late Robert and Lorena Barie. After graduating Alexander High School, Dick attended Cornell University where he received a degree in Agricultural Business. Upon graduation from Cornell, Richard returned to East Bethany where he eventually formed a partnership with his parents and brother at Lor-Rob Dairy Farm. The family farm was the passion of Dick’s life for almost 60 years. As a youth Dick was an active member of the FFA and became a leader in the Genesee County Agricultural industry as well as a lifetime member of the East Bethany Presbyterian Church, Genesee Memorial Hospital Board member, a Bethany Town Board member and the Bethany Town Supervisor for several years. Dick enjoyed his family, his employees and served as a resource to anyone who needed him. He was well known for the time spent with the Belgian horses he and his family campaigned for over 40 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Sandvoss) Barie; his children Karen Johnson (Steve) of Jamestown, Debra Barie (Tim Buckenmeyer) of Alexander, and Mark Barie (Jocelyn) of East Bethany, their mother Sally (Rider) Barie of Batavia, as well as stepsons Peter Sandvoss of Canandaigua, and Stephen Sandvoss of East Bethany; and grandchildren Remy Lacey of Batavia, and Avery and Austin Sandvoss of Canandaigua. Richard was predeceased by his parents and his brother, David Barie. Calling Hours will be held on Friday February 23, 2024 at the East Bethany Presbyterian Church from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Richards’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11:00am at the East Bethany Presbyterian Church with burial to follow at East Bethany Cemetery. Carol was born May 18, 1965 in Bradford, PA and was the daughter of LaVern H. and Ethel Mae Moore Raub Jr., and a loving companion of David A. Oakes of 30 years who survives. Carol attended Olean High School. She enjoyed making homemade dolls, crafting, being outdoors, going to cookouts and spending time with her family. Carol is survived by; her parents; loving companion, David A. Oakes of Scio; 2 step daughters, Diana (Josh) Cook and Annetta Oakes; 8 siblings, William S. VanEtten of Olean, Beverly A. Swan of Tennessee, Gloria Shaffer of Olean, Twin Thomas A. (Tammy) VanEtten of Hinsdale, Raymond D. (Teresa) VanEtten of St. Marys, PA, Donald R. VanEtten, John M. (Tammy) VanEtten and Harry L. Raub all of Portville. Carol was predeceased by; brother, Louis N. VanEtten on December 25, 2010 and a sister-in-law, Christina VanEtten on June 10, 2017.
