Sarah L. Kelly, "Sally," passed into eternal life on November 28, 2023, at the age of 93 in Media, Pennsylvania. She was born on December 26, 1929, to Richard and Sarah Lawrence. Sally was a kind and gentle soul who trusted in God's presence, guidance, and goodness throughout her life. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She took great joy in being a grandmother and, most recently, a great-grandmother. Sally is survived by her daughter Robin Moore, sons Richard (Gail) and Robert (Trish), six grandchildren Robert (Lea), Colleen (Mike) DeLuca, Brian (Kathryn), Patrick (Brittany), Samantha, and Emily, and two great-grandchildren Eloise and August Adam. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Adam, her sister Nancy, sisters-in-law Betty, Martha, Della, and brothers-in-law Lamar and Ben. Sally attended Hannah More Academy in Reisterstown, Maryland, for her high school education. She later pursued a career as an Administrative Assistant at Jules Schick Photography in Philadelphia, where she met her beloved husband. In 1983, when Adam and his partner opened Kelly & Massa Photography, Sally was their billing and corresponding secretary - a position she enjoyed because she was able to use her organizational and clerical skills and work alongside her husband again. Sally and Adam raised their family in Drexel Hill and lived there for over 40 years. In retirement they moved to Long Neck, Delaware and enjoyed many happy years there. Through the years Sally was an active member of Presbyterian churches and served in leadership roles in the women's organizations. Friends remember her gentle and confident leadership style and her willingness to involve others by seeking their input to strengthen the work of the group. She was a regular participant in Bible study groups and found strength in exploring God's word. Six years ago, Sally moved to Granite Farms Estates in Media, Pennsylvania where she continued to lead an active life. Her days were enriched by making and spending time with friends, singing with the Granite Farms Chorus, and volunteering as a library aide. She also showed her hidden talent for acting in several plays performed for the Granite Farms community. Her comedic timing was particularly memorable in two shows where she played the roles of a waitress and a maid. Sally always generated many laughs and left a lasting impression on those who watched. A service in celebration of Sally's life will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the Auditorium at Granite Farms Estates located at 1343 W. Baltimore Pike, Media, Pennsylvania. Joy Oakey

Age - 74

November 30, 2023

Joy Wilson Oakey, 74, of Media, PA, passed away peacefully at home on November 28th, 2023 from Glioblastoma. She followed her husband, Dick Oakey, who passed away in February 2021. Joy faced Dick's loss and her illness with determination, forbearance, and ultimately peaceful acceptance. Like much of the rest of her life, the last stage was marked by her humility and regard for how her deeds impact others, and she spent her final two years on earth preparing all she could to help her loved ones transition into a world without her. Joy found meaning and happiness in her role as a mother to two sons, Richard C. Oakey and John W. Oakey, as well as to daughter-in-law Sheetal Sehgal, granddaughters Luna (5) and "baby" Joy (2). Her motherly support extended to everyone who loved her children. Her calling as a nursing supervisor at Crozer-Chester Medical Center also shapes her legacy, where her calm competence helped her listen in times of crisis and address the needs of patients, families and colleagues. Joy loved her pets, caring for cats, dogs, and even a horse throughout her life. She trained her dogs Oliver and JoJo at the Dog Training Center of Chester County. She also developed a love of running later in life, and won many medals at Masters track events with TNT International Racing club, where she was nicknamed "Queen" for her signature wave. She was curious, exploring photography and journalism to learn about the world. Joy gave to many charities, served as a volunteer for various causes, and listened to people in a way that let them know she cared about what they were experiencing. She was often willing to sacrifice her own time to help others on their way. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Joy is survived by siblings Ann Wilson of Tacoma, WA and W. Scott Wilson of Beaverton, OR. True to her name, she will be missed dearly. A future memorial service will be communicated about by email and Facebook for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Joy to the First Church Media (350 W State St, Media, PA 19063). _____Arrangements: Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home15 E.
