It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Talbierz. Maria passed away peacefully on February 28, 2024 with her loving husband by her side. Maria will be lovingly remembered by Stefan, her husband of 55 years. Her grandchildren Andrew and Maya, her great grandchildren Chloe, Winter and Roman, Her brother in Poland, Arek Koziol and her many friends and distant relatives. The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton St ., St. Catharines on Thursday, March 7th, 2024 from 5 -7pm. Vigil prayers at 6pm. Funeral Mass for Maria will be celebrated on Friday, March 8th at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 5 Oblate St. Cremation. SPENCER, Helen (nee Willms) 1924-2024 Peacefully, surrounded by family, Helen Spencer passed away on February 26, 2024 in her 100th year. Loving mother of Deidre Zalomski (Mark), Karina Spencer-Yap (Andrew), Royston Spencer (Rachel), Kirsten Spencer-Wilkins. She will be missed by her grandchildren; Rebekah (Jeff), Meghan (Curt), Leah (Jesse), Taia (Scott), Tai (Alicia), Dane (Lindsay), Kira (Chris), Tristin (James), Kortney (Jesse), Colton (Kayla), Noah, Jamal, Jevonte, Ashanaya and Sevaya. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren; Rydan, Marley, Finn, Reed, Kaezen, Nika, Mackenzy and Carter. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Henry and Mary Willms and her siblings Mary Klassen (Ernest), Harry Willms (Zilda) and Irene Woodsit (Gene). Our beloved mother was born December 29, 1924 in Tiegenhagen Russia. She emigrated to Canada in 1925 where she grew up in a close-knit family living on a farm. She loved the outdoors and was an amazing artist. She worked as a secretary then as a ticket agent at an airline before having her family. Besides her love of skating, skiing and drawing, mom (Oma) loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally and she generously gave of her time for them. She was also a woman of faith who firmly believed in Jehovah‘s promise of a resurrection to life in a paradise earth where ,…no resident will say I am sick ,… (Isaiah 33:24) and death will be no more (Rev. 31:3,4). We look forward to welcoming her back. In honouring Helen’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cherished father of Marnie Lynn (Mark), Dennis Jr. and Lyle (Tonya). He will be sadly missed by is grandchildren; Bronson (Maddie) and Chanelle (Trevor). Forever loved “Big Papa” to his great grandchildren, Adalynn and Cash. Dennis will be fondly remembered by his cherished ‘Bonus Family’ members through all the wonderful memories made. Daughter-in-law; Allysia. Grandchildren; Maegan (Mike), Alex (Jenny), Taylor, Kai, Gracie and Gavin. Great grandchildren; McKenna and Samantha. Dennis also leaves his nieces; Debra (Corey), Melissa (Daan), nephew; Bob Jr and his great nephews; Brett, Brandon, Nate and Alex. Predeceased by his parents; Gerald and Mildred Sennett, his brothers; Bob Sr. (Jenny) and Pat, his treasured son; Daniel and his beloved grandchildren; Faith and Zackary, who all lovingly greeted him with open arms. Dennis was a well-loved, respected man with many friends who will be left with happy memories of good times had. He was a dedicated and hard-working man who gave over 31 years of his expertise at Syncrude in Ft. McMurray, Alberta. After returning home to Ontario in retirement, he most enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his teams, The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. Michael Joseph Dubé

DUBÉ, Michael “Mike” Joseph I am heartbroken to announce the passing of my father, Michael Joseph Dubé. He passed away peacefully, in the presence of his family, at Hotel Dieu Shaver on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 83 years of age. Mike was a retired attorney focused on helping those in need. He was a devout Catholic, obtaining his Master of Divinity from U of T and was a respected member of the secular Franciscan Order. Mike supported Big Brothers Big Sisters as a board member and volunteered countless hours to other organizations. He was most faithful to his commitment to Chez Marie, an organization providing shelter and settlement services to refugees. There has been no better example of benevolence to his family. Mike was a devoted husband of 56 years, to the late Carmel Rose (March 10, 2023). He was a dedicated father to Michael (Beth) and a cherished grandfather to Kathleen, Michael (Melissa) and Sarah Dubé. Dear brother-in-law of Gertrude (Frank) Koch, Marion (late Edward) Kocsis, Patricia Power, and the late Mary (Al) Potrecz. Fondly remembered by his nephews: Bill, Brian (Denise), Rob (Cathy), Paul, Paul, Michael (Irene) and their son, Lincoln. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Margaret, and his brother, Paul (Margaret). In keeping with Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place. He was a kind and loving husband to Rose (nee Edwards) for 57 years. He was a caring father of Morgan (Amy) and he cherished his granddaughter, Mattea. Dear brother of Marilyn Boulton (David), Doreen Andres (Alfred); and brother-in-law, Clayton Wilson. Fraser will be sadly missed by his family and close friends of many years. Fraser was predeceased by his parents, Martin & Jean. Born in Toronto, raised in St. Catharines, Fraser attended Grantham High and later enlisted in the Canadian Air Force. Fraser was employed at TRW/Thompson Products for over 35 years retiring in 2004. He loved traveling and spending time visiting his family each winter in California. Cherished and devoted husband to Danila Hill for 45 years; beloved father to Kristina (Mariusz) Cywinski and Colin (Rebecca) Hill; treasured papa to Claire, Olivia, Charlotte, Julia and Anna; special brother to Ivana (David) Andrus, much loved cousin to Claudia, Chris, Julia and Elaine Jones. Predeceased by Ted is his father, Edwin Hill; in-laws Ettore and Bernardina Costantini. Ted was loved by all who knew him and we wish to thank all of the staff for the exceptional care given from Walker Family Cancer Centre. WOODWOOD, Darrell Edward With heavy hearts and sadness in our souls, we announce that our brother, Darrell Edward Woodwood passed away on February 21, 2024 at the age of 68. Darrell is survived by his sisters Donna Abernethy (Steve), Darla Woodwood (Annie), nieces Shannon Colosimo, Lindsay Kochan (Jason) and Brooke Kochan (Tim), his partner Cynthia and former wife Darlene Eggleton and her kids Lara, James and Petra. He is predeceased by his parents George and Joyce, his sister Debbie Woodwood, his brother Dean Woodwood and niece Stacia Droese. Darrell was a lifelong learner, naturally curious and a seeker of knowledge. He derived immense joy in sharing his insight to assist and guide others. He wore many hats during his lifetime including as a skilled machinist, a tool and die maker, a successful businessman, a municipal politician, and a professional student. He then retired after many years as a passionate and engaged educator. He obtained a Masters in Philosophy and later a Masters in Psychology at Brock University. He was a Mason in Dereham Lodge No. 624, a lover of Harley Davidson motorcycles and all living things, both wild and domesticated. Rest in peace brother. In honouring Darrell’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Bob was a man of unwavering love and devotion to his family. His pride and joy encompassed his cherished children: Robert, Cathy (partner Steve) and Natalie (partner Jason). He found immense happiness in the laughter and love shared with his two beloved grandchildren, Ella and Ethan. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Holly and David, who he enjoyed staying in touch with despite the geographic distance. In retirement, Bob found joy in the sunny retreats of Florida during the winters and the Port Dalhousie Pier in the summer. He often remarked, "life is good," a testament to his optimistic outlook and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. For Bob, family was paramount. He reveled in the warmth of family gatherings, especially cherished BBQ’s that were often filled with laughter and love. Bob’s spirit was marked by his genuine care for people and his affinity for meaningful conversations. He valued relationships above all else, recognizing that true wealth lies in the connections we nurture and cherish. Though Bob’s physical presence may no longer grace our gatherings, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, kindness and devotion to family will endure through the memories we hold dear. On Wednesday, February 21 Teresa Aguirre de Galeano was reunited with her cherished husband, César Galeano in her 87 year with family at her side. Loving mother to Carmenza (Alvaro), Marta, Carlos (Galy), Patricia (William), Clara (Luis), Juan (Sofia), Lina (Leo), Sandra (Benjamin) and Solangel; proud grandma to Diego, Diana, Juan Pablo, Sebastian, Juan David, Miguel Angel, Juan Camilo, Luis Felipe, Valeria, Andres and Kevin; great-grandma to Valentina, Andres Felipe, Milan Noe, Luciana, Mariana, Isabella, Thiago, Caio and Baby Franco; Born in Balboa Colombia and immigrated to Canada in the Spring of 2003 where she expertly raised her large family in the Region of Niagara. Blessed with her strong faith and even stronger love for people, Teresa quickly became the matriarch and "grandmother" to many in her community. She had attempted her best at learning English in order to spread joy and happiness to others. She was a member of the St. Alfred Parish in St. Catharines and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading her Bible, praying the Rosary and spending time with her family. Teresa's family wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to Teresa’s close friends that came and provided their support in her final days. Many thanks also to her spiritual leaders from her Catholic Church and the community for praying for her safe journey to our Almighty Father.
