Obituary of Mary Spencer Mary Spencer , age 94 , of Elmira, NY passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Facility, Elmira. Born in Philadelphia , PA on July 4, 1924 , she was the daughter of the late Philip and the late Clara ( Stiles) Jago . She married Walter Spencer on February 1, 1944. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2002. Mary worked as a homemaker raising her children. In her free time, Mary will be remembered for her love of camping, flower gardening and crafts. Mary is survived by children: Kathy of Elmira, NY, Joan (Larry) of Pine City, NY, Sandra (Richard) of NC; daughter-in-law, Diane of PA and families; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by son, Kent; son-in-law, Thomas Moore; sister, Edna and brother, Raymond. It was Mary's wish that there be no services. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
