Rosalinda "Rosie" Charles, 69, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023 with her loving husband by her side. Rosie was born March 12, 1954 to Magin and Maximina Torres. She married the love of her life Rodolfo "Rudy" Charles on June 7, 1974. Rosie graduated from Harlingen High School in 1974 and proudly earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Brownsville in 1995. Rosie was passionate about education. She was a paraprofessional in the Harlingen CISD and loved working with the schoolchildren at Treasure Hills and Dishman Elementary Schools. Once she completed her bachelor's degree, Rosie devoted the remainder of her professional career to helping adults obtain professional certifications and advanced degrees through financial assistance and guidance as a caseworker with Cameron Workforce. She retired from service in 2009. Rosie will be remembered for her lasting impact on the lives of so many. In her personal life, Rosie was the life of the party. She loved rock music, especially live, and she loved to dance. She enjoyed gardening. Rosie passionately loved her family. She had an enormous heart and was incredibly generous. Her radiant smile could light up a room. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will always be cherished. Surviving is her husband of 49 years, Rudy Charles of Harlingen; two sons, Steve (Angie Guiter) Charles and Michael (Andrea) Charles; two grandsons, Steven Charles and Andrew Charles; two brothers and a loving sister, Rudolfo (Susan) Torres, Armando Torres and Irma Kitchens; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will begin on Thursday, November 30,2023 1:00 p. m. - 9:00 p. m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00p. m. at Trinity Funeral Chapel of the Holy Spirit. On Friday, December 1, 2023, a funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Harlingen, Texas at 12 p. m. with interment to follow at Restlawn Cemetery. In Loving Memory of Deborah Garrison Deborah Garrison, born to parents Dr. Lamar and Vera Harper, peacefully departed from this world in Harlingen, TX at age 73. She spent her formative years in Tucson, Arizona. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Deborah was an affectionate person who gave her all to the people she loved, especially a devoted mother who poured love and care into her family. She found joy in nurturing her children. She had many friends, and family members that she cared deeply about. She was not only a cherished family member and friend, but also a dedicated athlete who pursued excellence on the track. She was one of the top 10 (#8) female distance runners in the nation, and won a track scholarship to college where she studied to become a nurse. Her commitment to the sport and the countless hours of training led her to compete in the 1968 Olympic Trials, plus lots of medals along the way, a testament to her determination and skill as a runner. Beyond the track, Deborah had a profound love for music, and the heartfelt notes of the piano were a constant companion throughout her life. She often found solace and joy in playing and sharing the beautiful melodies that echoed through her home, playing as an accompanist for others, and volunteering for her church congregation. In addition to her athletic and musical pursuits, Deborah achieved a bachelor's degree in music and a master's degree in homeland security. Her children have fond memories of going on nature walks with her, working in the garden together, and watching her sew. Deborah lovingly raised her children in Chesterfield, Virginia. She is survived by her children Trina Barry of Champlin, MN, Stephen (Allison) Garrison of Midlothian, VA, Dr. Daniel (Silvia) Garrison of Burlington, IA, Tiffany Tucker of Stansbury Park, UT, and Tara Garrison of Hilo, HI, along with her 21 grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Deborah is survived by siblings Stuart (Karen) Hancock and Suzette Peterson, as well as adoptive siblings Ed Hancock, Nancy Siegel, John Hancock, JoAnne Phillips, Froy Hancock, along with her Aunt Sue Norovich, and many adored cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Lamar and Vera Harper, her adoptive parents James (Catherine) Hancock, her grandfather Cecil Hancock, grandmother Florence Powell, Aunt Gladys (Ken) Gardner, and Uncle Jerry (Astrid) Hancock, all of which held a special place in her heart. A memorial service to celebrate Deborah Garrison's life will be held at the East Lawn Palms Cemetery, in Tucson, AZ at a later date for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or the Children's Music Fund. May Deborah's soul rest in eternal peace. She will be dearly missed but will remain forever in our hearts as a loving mother, family member, and friend.Show more

Clarissa Martinez, 88, was called home to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday November 22, 2023 at Harlingen Medical Center surrounded by love of her family. She was born and raised in La Feria, TX daughter to Primitivo Sanchez and Josefina Silva Sanchez. Clarissa was a hardworking lady and devout Catholic. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She served at her church countless hours as a volunteer and a catechism teacher for many years. Clarissa retired from Knapp Chevrolet where she worked for 40+ years of faithful service. She is preceded in death by her parents. Silverio (Silver) G. Vasquez ,76, entered the Lord's heavenly kingdom on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He was born on January 28, 1947, to Francisco Vasquez and Tomasa Garza. Silver proudly began his service to the US Army during Vietnam as an SP4 in 1968 where he earned the National Defense Service Medal as an M-14 Sharpshooter and the Good Conduct Medal as an M-16 Expert during his service. He then receieved an honorable discharge from his service to the U. S. Army. Silver went on to proudly serve as a U. S. Border Patrol Agent in the Brownsville Sector where he retried after 28 years. After retirement from the U. S. Border Patrol, Silver then worked as a Court Security Officer under the U. S. Marshals Service at the Federal Court House in Brownsville. He proudly and faithfully served his country for over 40 years. Above all his service to his country he was a loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law and an amazing grandfather. In his pass time, he loved hunting, having breakfast with his dear friends, spending time with his closest and dearest nieghbors and driving his best bud Willie around. Silverio leaves behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 35 years, Domitila (Tila) R. Vasquez; his children, April Ann Leal (Javier), Michelle Yvonne Vasquez, David E. Harlingen, TX Maria De Los Angeles Reyes gained her angel wings and took the hand of the Lord to enter the Gates of Heaven on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Sunshine Haven. She was born in Cerritos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Angel Reyes and Paulina Nieto on August 23, 1936. She was a faithful member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Harlingen, TX where she took care of the children's nursery. A native of Mexico, she graduated from Valley Baptist Academy (VBA) in 1962. After graduating from VBA, Mary proudly became a United States citizen. She continued her education at Mary Hardin Baylor College, Belton, TX (1962 to 1966), earning a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Spanish. She also attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX (1966 to 1967). She earned a master's degree in Spanish and Religious Education from Ibero-American University, in Mexico City. Mary worked for 35 years at Valley Baptist Academy (VBA). While at VBA, she was a beloved Teacher, Dean of Students, Coordinator of Summer School, Librarian and Dorm Mother as well as a missionary. As a teacher, her favorite saying was "Ninos y ninas, serafines y querubines pongan atencion. . . " Mary loved to organize the Mexican Supper and traditional Mexican folkloric cultural dances at VBA for years. Mary also taught Spanish and Bible class at Harlingen Christian School (1998-2000). After her retirement she continued teaching and recruiting students for Presbyterian Pan American School in Kingsville until 2011. During her many job interviews, Mary said, "I strive to be the best teacher possible, a positive influence on the students and be there for their problems and concerns. " Mary was a world traveler. Her love of travel led her to become a tour guide with Educational Tours (EF) for over 30 years. She traveled with students, parents, and friends to many places including France, Italy, Israel, England, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Greek Island and Austria to name a few. She was preceded in death by her parents Angel Reyes and Paulina Nieto, sisters, Primitiva Reyes Nieto, Juana Maria Reyes Nieto, Maria Guadalupe Reyes Nieto, and a brother Constantino Reyes Nieto. She is survived by sisters Maria Victoria Reyes Nieto, Esbelta Reyes Nieto, and a brother Angel Reyes Nieto. We are grateful to Fernando Martinez, RN with Lindenwood Hospice Care and all the staff at Sunshine Haven, Inc. Olmito, TX for taking such good care of Mary during the times she spent there. She is preceded in death by her husband, Trinidad Uriegas; daughter, Carolina Uriegas; and sons, Fidel Uriegas & Javier Uriegas. Mercedes leaves behind her loving family to cherish her wonderful memory, her children, Norberto Uriegas (Annolia), Jose Luis Uriegas (Eglamtina), Irma Figueroa (Faustino Garza), Trinidad Saldana (Hector), & Francisco R.
