Mr. Ralph Lamar Lairsey, 85, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at his residence following a brief illness. Born in Waycross, GA on June 11, 1938, Mr. Lairsey moved to Pierce County with his parents and siblings in 1950. He graduated from Blackshear High School in 1957 and soon began working with Atlantic Coastline Railroad in Waycross as a young man and later joined the United States Army Reserves. He was called into active duty during the Bay of Pigs Crisis in 1961. He opened Lairsey's Grocery Store in Offerman, GA in 1962, and operated that store until 1976. He also owned and operated Terry's Motor Company and Scott's Mobile Homes during the 1970's. In 1975, he became a bi-vocational pastor and pastored the Church of God of Prophecy in Blackshear until 1983 when he became the pastor of the Gilchrist Park Church of God of Prophecy in Waycross. He pastored there until 1987. During these years, Mr. Lairsey also sold insurance for American General Life Insurance Company. He and his late brother, William Lairsey, opened Lairsey's Country Store on Highway 84 on the same corner where his parents operated their grocery store from 1949 until 1985. Later, Mr. Lairsey added Lairsey's Auto Sales adjacent to the store. Mr. Lairsey is preceded in death by his parents, Fluis Cecil and Lily Frances Davis Lairsey; his father- and mother-in-love, Anderson and Ethel Collins Davis; his daughter, Cassandra Marcella Lairsey; his granddaughter, Cassandra Susanne Lairsey; and his brother, William Cecil Lairsey. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nadean Davis Lairsey of Blackshear; his children, Terry (Susan) Lairsey of Blackshear, Scott Lairsey of Statesboro, Karla (Roger) Swafford of Talmo, Eric (Erin) Lairsey of Augusta, Matt Lairsey of Nashville, TN, and Michael (Tori) Lairsey of Waycross; his 14 grandchildren, Davis (Hannah) Lairsey, Austin (Ginny) Lairsey, Gantt Lairsey, Noah Lairsey, Jackson Swafford, Caleb Lairsey, Eve Lairsey, Clara Lairsey, Ellie Lairsey, Coleman Lairsey, Adain Lairsey, Whitt Lairsey, Reagan Lairsey, and Eli Lairsey; 4 great grandchildren who brought him so much joy, Eliza Lairsey, Tate Lairsey, Collins Lairsey, and Beau Lairsey; his sisters, Carolyn Rosenberger, Christine Ring, Linda Thornton, Diane (Marvin) Hopkins, and Sherry Lairsey; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Lairsey will be held Monday morning, December 11, 2023, at 11:00 o'clock from the Word of Life Worship Church of God of Prophecy in Blackshear. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 4 until 7. Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery. Miss. Addison Marie Teabo, 13, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 3, 2023, due to injuries she received from an auto accident along with her father, Michael Anthony Teabo. Born in Waycross, GA on March 1, 2010, she lived in Pierce County all her life and was a 7th grader at Pierce County Middle School. Addison loved playing sports, especially volleyball & tennis. Listening to music was a true passion of hers, and she took pride in being a big sister. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. Survivors include her mother & step father, Olivia & Tyler McQuaig of Blackshear; two sisters, Raegan Teabo and Oaklynn Teabo both of Blackshear; 4 brothers, Grayson Teabo of Blackshear, Brayden McQuaig, Grayson McQuaig, and Konner McQuaig all of Douglas, Ga; her maternal grandparents, Lisa & Randy Williams of Blackshear; paternal grandparents, Charles & Kim Teabo of Blackshear, and Scott & Vanessa Burkett of Douglas, Ga; four uncles & aunts, Lucas (Seirra) Williams, Daniel (Dixie) Teabo, David (Brooke) Teabo all of Blackshear, and Dixon (Merisa) Williams of Fitzgerald, Ga; her two fur babies, Luna and Ragnar; and several cousins and other relatives. Mr. Mickey Alvis Dixon, age 66, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday morning (11/26/23) at his residence following an extended illness. Born November 18, 1957, in Waycross, he was a son of the late Alvis Cleon Dixon and Winnie Evelyn Thornton Dixon Guy. He grew up in Waycross and was a 1976 graduate of Waycross High School. He moved to Utah in 1982 before returning to Pierce County in 1996. He was a retired truck driver for Robert Bearden Inc. (RBI) and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Mitchell Dixon; stepfather, Roy Edward Guy, Sr. ; in-laws, Wade H. and Audrey Gardner Hooper; niece, Ansley Day; and nephew Kenneth Collins. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Kelly Ann Dixon of Blackshear; 3 children, David Dixon (wife Angel) of Blackshear, Kellie Haire of Waycross, and Jordan Dixon (wife Samantha) of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, Dylan Dixon (Aliah Galvan), Kendra Dixon, Gage Merryman, Colton Merryman, Brooklin Haire, and Aeryn Haire; 1 great grandson, Holland Dixon; 3 sisters, Charlotte Davis (husband Billy) and Mary Morgan (husband Robert), both of Blackshear, and Ann Marie Parfenchuck (husband Thomas) of Martinez, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pat and Michelle Collins of Santa Maria, CA, Walter and Linda Roach of Blackshear, and James Hooper of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mr. David Lee Best, 71, of Blackshear, passed away early Friday morning, November 24, 2023, at his residence. Born in Augusta, GA on April 15, 1952, David lived in South Carolina for several years before moving to Pierce County eleven years ago. He worked as a security guard for Grace Davis Concrete and went on to retire from Universal Protection Service in Aiken, SC. David was a natural musician. He played many instruments including the guitar, drums, and bass. He also loved to sing (he had an incredible voice) and dance. You could occasionally catch him DJ'ing events as well. He enjoyed going to flea markets and going on picnics but his favorite thing to do was to explore every beach he could with the love of his life, Janice. David will be remembered as an extraordinarily kind human being. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a son of the late Frances Sweet Key and John Henry Best, Jr. Survivors include his fiance', Janice Cooley of Blackshear; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert "Bob" Best & Dr. Julia Johnson of North Hero, VT; 2 nephews, M. Scott (Kristine) Best and Michael L. (Namsuk) Best; 3 great nieces, Kameryn Best, Lauryn Best, and Minah Best; and several other relatives and friends. Pearl (Thornton) Jinks departed this life on November 8, 2023, at home in Blackshear, Georgia. Pearl as was born on February 8, 1924, to the late Eddie V. Thornton and Addie M. Pate, in Camilla, GA. Roughly around the age of nine or ten, she moved to Waycross, Georgia where she received her high school education from in Center High. She was dietarian at Lee Street High, she also worked at Blackshear Nursing Home, and Waycross Shoe factory, and around the farm. She was a member of the Zion Baptist Church of Blackshear she participated in singing the church choir. Preceding her husband of 50 years before departing this earth Willie D. Jinks and one son Ronald V. Jinks. She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memories of three sons: William T. Jinks, of Blackshear, GA and Bennie Johnson and wife (North Carolina), and David Nixon (Kingsland, GA), and daughter-in-law Renita Jinks She also leaves her Grandchildren to mourn and cherish her Cassandra Holmes, Shambrick (Kitty) Harris, Jacobe Omar Jinks, Chandra Hunter, Chelsea, Megan, Tiffany Swinson, and Chentel.
