Mary Ann Mitchell ascended to be with her Lord on Sunday,June 19, 2022. She was born on December 7, 1941, to the lateCatherine Jones and Norris Mitchell. She was the youngest ofthree girls of this union. She resided in Lafayette, Louisiana herentire life. She was baptized at St. Paul Catholic Church and amember of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Mary Ann Mitchellwas a beloved mother, grandmother, Nanny, and friend. Mary Ann was a graduate of Paul Breaux High School. Hermaternal love for children was displayed in her many years ofemployment at Breaux's Child Care. She later began workingvarious positions in the hospitality industry and retired fromI'Monelli Restaurant as a chef. She was a single mother devoted to raising her three daughters:Catherine (Lafayette, LA); Paula and Laken (Atlanta, GA). Shefinally became a grandmother in her senior years to a preciousand precocious granddaughter - Tylar Hatcherson. She was a second mother to her sister Shirley's children, whoaffectionately called her "Nanny": Iantha Carston (Paul);Stephanie Stevenson, Marshall Mitchell, Charlotte Mitchell (Bill),Lisa Mitchell, and Michael Todd Mitchell (Kelly). She was "Gran-Nanan" to a host of great nieces and nephews and a lifelongfriend to many. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, CatherineJones and Norris Mitchell, sisters Barbara Ann and Shirley Ann,nephew Lennis Mitchell, and brother Willie Richard.
