Mary Mason Obituary

Mary Sue Mason, 67, of Andrews passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Susie had lived in Cherokee County most of her life. She worked at Lee's as a seamstress for many years until it's closing. Susie was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. As Proverbs 31:10 says Susie was thought of as a virtuous woman. She was the daughter of the late David and Thelma Phillips and wife of the late William Rondall Mason, who died August 28, 2017. She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Surviving are two daughters, Ronda Shields and husband, Dale of Rutherfordton, North Carolina and Juanita Phillips of Andrews; a brother, Jackie Phillips and wife, Linda of Edneyville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Evan Crisp of Rutherfordton, Brittany Goolsby of Rutherfordton, Mason Shields of Rutherfordton, Emily Phillips of Andrews, and Austin Shields of Rutherfordton; two great-grandchildren, Corbin and Weston Crisp; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 24, 2023 at Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with Elder Alan Mansager officiating. The interment will be in Valleytown Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Mason Shields, Jerry LeQuire, Kaden Clark, Alex Spongberg, Jessie Yelton, and David Moss. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Shields and Dylan Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Mary Sue Mason to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews in charge of all arrangements.
