Carolyn Johnson

Age - 80

December 1, 2023

On November 26th, 2023, surrounded by the warmth of her family and friends, Carolyn Kay Johnson left this world to embark on her next adventure. Born on November 28th, 1942, in Kansas City, KS, alongside her twin sister Marilyn, Carolyn went on to grace the world with her lively spirit and unyielding charisma. As the oldest of a twin, she came into this world with a dash of bravery and a hint of bossiness that defined her charming essence. After graduating from Caldwell High School in 1960 and American Business College, Carolyn embraced the role of a devoted mother to her two daughters, Kirsten and Katherine. Fate brought Leo Johnson into her life in 1970 with his two sons, Scott and Marc. Carolyn and Leo blended their families and later welcomed the joyous addition of Summer in 1973. Carolyn's professional journey saw her at NCR, where she fearlessly navigated the world of P. C. boards, leaving an indelible mark as the lead over testing. She then lent her talents to the Coleman Company, retiring in 2005 from the Design Engineering Department. Post-retirement, she continued her legacy as a volunteer at the American Red Cross, Via Christi, and other various organizations. Her heart overflowed with love for her family, and Carolyn became a cheerleader not only to her kin but to all her friends on Facebook. Her vibrant personality was a testament to her zest for life. Carolyn's love affair with life included a passion for extensive travel, being a snowbird, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, cooking for her family, Elvis, and sipping cocktails on Fridays with her beloved sister. She adored the water, the sunshine, and hosting the famed Christmas in July at her lake home. Carolyn's life was an extraordinary journey, marked by her adventurous spirit. She witnessed bullfights in Mexico, conquered the seas through deep-sea fishing in the Gulf, and explored France, Hawaii, Alaska, and the Panama Canal. Her passion for travel extended to family events, where she stood resilient even in the face of physical challenges. Known for her wisdom, Carolyn occasionally insisted she knew everything, but always with a touch of grace and humor. She faced life's adversities head-on, surviving breast cancer and becoming a stalwart advocate for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Her courageous spirit propelled her through challenges, making her a trailblazer in every sense. Carolyn Kay Johnson was a force of nature, leaving behind a legacy of sassy charm, classy resilience, and a bossy spirit that endeared her to all. She now joins her husband, Leo Johnson, and her faithful four-legged companion, Daisy May, in eternal peace. She is survived by her three daughters, two step-sons, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever carry the warmth of her heart. A private service will be held in her honor, with memorial contributions welcomed at His Helping Hands.
