Barbara Warsinsky

Barbara Warsinsky

Age - 92

December 8, 2023

Barbara Ann (nee Wotring) Warsinsky, age 92, entered the Gates of Heaven - reuniting with her beloved husband Ed, Dec 5, 2023. Barbara was born in her actual family home on October 2, 1931. She was the youngest (and last surviving member) of the 8 children of Daniel Jefferson Wotring and Madge Chloe (nee Mundell) Wotring. She was graduated from Morgantown High School in 1949. She then attended West Virginia University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Health, followed by a Master's Degree in both as well. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority, and was active in Kappa Phi, a Methodist sorority through Wesley Foundation. She was the sweetheart of the Methodist fraternity, Sigma Theta Epsilon. Once she finished her degrees, she accepted a Phys Ed teaching job in Ashtabula, OH, which would prove fortuitous. Barbara had a blind date with a gentleman to attend his office Christmas party in Dec, 1957. He was quickly smitten. . . she was slower to be enamored. It wasn't long, however, before her father reported every phone call she made home included multiple references to "Ed said this," and "Ed said that. " In May, 1958 Barbara Wotring and Ed Warsinsky became engaged, and were married the following October. Ed accepted a position with Sterling Faucet, and the pair returned to Morgantown, where their first daughter arrived in October, 1959. Three more daughters were born, and the family was complete. Barbara kept busy as a stay-at-home mom who helped with school activities, eventually returning to teaching when her youngest was in elementary school. In 1985, Barbara and Ed created a flourishing business - Warsinsky Decorators - and enjoyed it until Ed's death in 2000. When a particularly intriguing order would arrive, Barbara was famous to say, "Ooh! Wouldn't Mary Ann (or Arlene, or Jackie, or Libby, etc) love to have one of these?" Ed's reply? "Barbara, this is not a not-for-profit-gift-giving business. " Barbara and Ed were supportive parents of their daughters' activities. To that end, and at the request of band director Michael Roberts, they developed the MHS Band's patron program - still thriving today. At the request of band director Don Wilcox, they served as the WVU Marching Band's official photographers from 1975 to 2000. They reveled in taking movies and stills of the band, and greatly enjoyed traveling with the band. Barbara also loved her WVU sports. To her final days, she dressed in blue and gold, and stayed up - no matter the hour - cheering for her teams. For close to 70 years, Barbara was a member of an exclusive club called, "The Birthday Girls. " Six members strong (with no invitation ever given to daughters desperate to be considered even junior members), these 6 ladies were a united force for fabulous, fiercely-loving, faithful, friendship - in good times and bad. Barbara joined Wesley United Methodist Church as a young girl, and would remain an active member her entire life. She was in a Circle (prayer group), served on countless committees, and was married there. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her husband, children, and grandchildren benefited greatly from the billions of things she did, large and small, to enrich their lives. She was a confidante. She was an outstanding cook. She had a world class smile. She adored her extended family, and her husband's extended family. She led by example. She was a positive life force, and she looked for the best in everyone. She welcomed all to her home. If someone showed up unexpectedly for dinner, another plate was set, and a pork chop was cut in half. She epitomized, "Come when you can, and welcome when you come. " In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Earnie (Edna), Daniel (Eve), James (Rosalie), Donald (Mary), and Bill (Taffy); and 2 sisters: Mary (Shafer) and Eleanor (Elmore). She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Albert and Leah Warsinsky, and by her beloved husband, A. Edward Warsinsky. She was also preceded in death by several well-loved nieces and nephews. Barbara is survived by her four daughters: Leah (Mike) Bolyard, Eleanor (Jim) Green, Suzanne, and Rebecca (Chris Brooks). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Kasey (Lonnie) Long, Julie Green, Lindsay (Logan) Powroznik, Stephen Green, Leanna, Nonee and Noah High. Dressing in WVU blue and gold is encouraged. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mountaineer Marching Band in one of two ways: Checks payable to the WVU Foundation and mailed to the WVU College of Creative Arts, PO Box 6111, Morgantown, WV 26506, or if wishing to donate specifically to the new practice facility, follow this link and dedicate in memory of Barbara: https://give. wvu. edu/give/415566/#!/donation/checkout Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St. , Morgantown, on Friday, December 15th from 4pm - 7pm. Norman Hostetler Jr

Age - 90

December 7, 2023

Norman Hostetler Jr. , formerly of Hollsopple, Pennsylvania entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 5, 2023 at his home in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born January 2, 1933 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and is survived by his wife Shirley (Toews); his children, Glory (Don) Burkey, Ron Hostetler (Holly), Doug Hostetler (Nancy), Cheryl (Stephen) Stupar, Jeff Hostetler (Vicki), Todd Hostetler (Lisa), Lori (Kurt) Kehl; 28 Grandchildren and 71 Great-grandchildren; sister Betty Kolb, brother Robert Hostetler, sister Linda Knepper, and sister Judy Mullet. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman Sr. and Erma Hostetler, former wife Delories (Dolly), and brothers Leon Hostetler and David Hostetler. He is also survived by stepchildren Warren (Pattie) Cardiff, and Trudie (Tim) Bitterman; 8 Grandchildren and 1 Great-grandchild. Norm grew up on a dairy and poultry farm, attended Blough Mennonite Church, and graduated from Johnstown Mennonite School. He was a gifted athlete and vocalist who dreamed about a singing career. He attended both Goshen and Eastern Mennonite colleges but cut short his academic career to take over the family farm. At Blough Mennonite Church he was both Sunday School Superintendent and song leader. And the songs he and wife Dolly sang together were something to behold. "Jr. " as he was often called, was also a tenacious hunter. He knew how to take down big game not only in Pennsylvania and West Virginia but around the world, with sons, grandsons, and son-in-law, having done hunting expeditions in South Africa, Alaska for caribou and bear, Colorado for Elk and Montana for mule deer. Norm was also a competitor. He played third base on a fast-pitch softball team. When asked by one of his sons why he didn't win the MVP trophy after playing in a tournament he simply slid the side of his uniform down below his hip to show the big bright red brush burn he got while sliding into home and said, "This is my trophy. " His kids and grandkids were his greatest joy. Singing the old hymns, fall harvest, spring planting, and steak Sundays made him happy along with a special moment he had watching his son win a Super Bowl. "PeePaw" as he is called by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren had celebrated his 90th birthday less than a year ago in Morgantown, WV, surrounded by three generations of a family he liked to call "his people" who surprised him with an outpouring of love, fellowship, respect, admiration, and singing. He leaves them a legacy filled with memories and stories about hard work, patience, endurance, humility, forgiveness, commitment, obedience to God and His Word, seeking peace, unconditional love, keeping a Sabbath, and figuring things out. Figuring things out was a way of life on a farm. His highest prayer has always been for the salvation of his children, his children's children, and beyond. It's a prayer that will linger on until someday we all meet him once again in a place called Heaven. The family would like to thank all his doctors, nurses, and staff at WVU Medicine and WV Caring, and also his neighbors who all showered him with kindness, love, and care during his time of need. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the WVU Medicine Children's Hostetler Family Resource Center in honor of Norman Hostetler. checks can be sent to: WVU Medicine Children's,Suncrest Center, 1085 Van Voorhis Rd Suite 350,Morgantown, WV 26505. Between Ray and Douglas (we called them our Double-Trouble) we just never knew what to expect and there was never a dull moment. At this time our hearts are broken and heavy with grief and pain because of Ray leaving us so suddenly and unexpectedly. Her passion for helping others propelled her to pursue an Associates Degree in Nursing from Fairmont State University. As a Registered Nurse, Tamee dedicated 15 years of her life to serving others at Grafton City Hospital and Mon Health Medical Center. Her later years saw her spreading joy and warmth at several Hot Spots in the Morgantown area. Tamee was more than her professional accomplishments. She was a woman who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved to cook, and her meals were a reflection of her love for her family and friends. Known for her sense of humor, Tamee was a jokester who could turn any situation into a moment of laughter. Her creativity found expression in her art, which was as vibrant and unique as she was. Tamee's love for animals was evident in her care for her pets. A rebel in her own right, she held a deep love for the outdoors, finding joy in camping and kayaking. Tamee's life was a testament to the power of embracing every moment with a smile, a joke, or a loving gesture. Her spirit was as boundless as her kindness, inspiring those around her to live fully and love deeply. Her legacy is not just in the lives she touched through her profession or the family she adored, but also in the laughter, love, and life lessons she shared. Tamee was a beacon of positivity, her energy and enthusiasm infectious. She was a reminder that life is to be lived, not merely existed in. She was an explorer, not just of the great outdoors but of the vast landscapes of human emotions and experiences. Her adventurous spirit was reflected in her love for travel, her daring palate, and her willingness to dive into new experiences. In Tamee's memory, let us remember to live with joy, to laugh often, and to love deeply. Let's strive to be kind, to be creative, and to seek adventure. Above all, let's remember to cherish the moments, for it is in these moments that we truly live. As we bid farewell to Tamee, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. Her journey may have ended in West Virginia, but her spirit and legacy live on in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her.
