Emile Carignan also known as “The Big E” of Sun City West, AZ passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 26, 2024. Emile was born November 25, 1941 in Connecticut. In 1943 his family moved to Leominster, Massachusetts. After high school Emile joined the U.S. Navy serving till 1965. In 1970 he started his career as an operating engineer at Anheuser-Busch in Merrimack, NH where he worked for 31 years. After his retirement Emil moved to Arizona. He was actively involved at the Palm West Community Church. He enjoyed golf so much that he formed a men’s group called the Hun-Yaks. Which got popular very quickly. He also enjoyed bowling with his wife and friends. He enjoyed traveling especially to Italy and Alaska. He is predeceased by his father Eugene Furling and his mother Mary Jane. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Kay Carignan and his puppy Oliver. His daughters Denise Carignan of Mason, NH, Emily Geiger and her husband Robert of Merrimack, NH, Cynthia Langley and her husband Roger of Clinton, SC. His brother Jerry Carignan and his wife Josie of Wickenburg, AZ. Emile had 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Infinity Hospice Care for their outstanding care and compassion they showed throughout his illness. Family and Friends are invited to attend Emile’s celebration of life on March 12, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Palm West Community Church, 13845 W. Stardust Blvd., Sun City West. Donna Jane Van de Water

Donna Jane Van de Water, born in South Bend, IN on July 21, 1944, passed away peacefully in Sun City, AZ on February 26, 2024 at the age of 79. She was the beloved daughter of Jack and Jane Carr and is survived by her sister Vicki Carr.Donna's life was filled with love and devotion to her faith and family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John but leaves behind a legacy through her children: Kevin (Marcey) Long, Tim (Claire) Long, stepchildren Kelly (Bryan) Savage, Jon (Shannon) Van de Water, Tracy McCombs; as well as six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.She will be remembered for her unwavering faith in Christ which she shared with everyone she met. Donna led many bible studies, where she touched the lives of many through her deep faith and large heart to serve others. Her passion for cosmetology allowed her to minister to others from the comfort of her salon chair - a place where people found laughter, solace, and connection.Donna also cherished spending time with family and friends; especially during shopping trips where she could get dressed up. She also loved decorating her beautiful home and creating a home that reflected her love of yellow and all things glam.A memorial service will be held at her church, Hope Chapel in Glendale, AZ, on Saturday March 2nd at 3pm followed by a light reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church's Al-Anon program which Donna supported wholeheartedly throughout the years. Her absence will leave an irreplaceable void in our hearts but we takecomfort knowing that Donna has left behind an enduring legacy of love, compassion and steadfast faith that will continue to inspire us all.

Charles Edward Lott

Charles Edward Lott, known to many as "Charlie", passed away on February 13, 2024, at the age of 85 in Sun City, AZ. He was born on September 10, 1938, in Evansville, IN. Charlie had a loving, giving spirit and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Charlie retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer from the Navy after 22 years of honorable service. He also worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years, where he received numerous commendations for his contributions. In his free time, Charlie enjoyed cooking and grilling, solving expert-level crossword puzzles, walking competitively, and frequenting the beach in his over twenty years of living in Hawaii. He was an avid cook and grill master and a dedicated solver of the NY Times crossword puzzles. He attained the top position for miles walked on Nike.com from 2018-2020. Charlie is survived by his son Jesse (Wendy) Lott, grandsons Jalen,Noah and Micah, siblings Carol, Ronni, Roseanne (Ronnie), Bonnie (Dennis) and Daniel, as well as 18 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tita, and siblings Wanda and Thomas. He truly loved his many grandnieces/nephews. A viewing will be held at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 N 27th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85009 on Monday, March 4, 2024 from 12-1 PM, followed by his funeral and 1 PM and committal at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Public Broadcasting Service, Arizona Highway Patrol Association, American Cancer Society, St. Claire of Assisi, or The Salvation Army.

Albert Silveira Madruga

Albert Silveira Madruga, age 78, passed away at his home on Friday, February 23, 2024 surrounded by his family. Albert grew up in Portugal. He was born to Manuel and Filomena Madruga on the island of Pico, in the Azores. He then moved to the island of Terceira, where he met and married his wife, Durvalina. Together they immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s to live the American dream and start a family. He was an avid woodworker as well as he enjoyed home improvement and remodeling projects. He was so skilled at woodworking that as a tradition, he built his grandkids beautiful toy boxes for their first birthdays. Albert loved the sport of soccer. He played on Portuguese league teams as a young adult and he watched every single game that he could. He refereed games later in life and was present at his kids and grandkids games. Some of his fondest memories were watching games on TV while his brother watched on the other side of the country so that they could talk on the phone about the game while watching. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest brother, Manuel, his youngest brother, Armando, his sister Maria and his brother's in law, Gilberto and Antonio. Albert is survived by his wife, Durvalina, his daughter, Nancy Parker, her husband, Scott, and their children, Brooklynn and Jackson. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Clement of Rome Parish of Sun City, 15800 N Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85351, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 10:00AM.

Kenneth Leon Minor, 82, of West Liberty, IA, passed away on 20 December 2023 at his home in Sun City, AZ. Ken was born in Winston, MO, December 6, 1941, to Rex and Geneva Minor. The family moved to West Liberty, Iowa when he was a young child. Ken attended school in a nearby one room schoolhouse north of West Liberty through 8th grade and West Liberty High School, graduating in 1960. After high school, he served in the Army reserves after completing basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Ken worked many jobs, mostly for local farmers, before purchasing his first farm on which he raised hogs, corn and soybeans for over 50 years, until his passing. On 2 June 1963, Ken married Linda (Goodsell) of Greene, Iowa. They were married 57 years, living in West Liberty, until her passing in 2020. Ken was a member of the West Liberty Lion’s Club, West Liberty Golf and Country Club, and the West Liberty School Board where he served as Vice President. He was an avid traveler, enjoyed Friday nights at the Country Club, attended Hawkeye football games (he and Linda were season ticket holders for decades), and loved being social. His children (and Linda) would tell you that wherever they went, they always had to wait because Ken would be visiting with someone, even if it were a stranger. Ken was preceded in death by his wife Linda, his parents Rex (Pearl) Minor and Geneva (Jack) Lloyd, stepbrother Harry Lee, his uncle Don (Mary) Minor and is survived by his sons Kevin (West Liberty), Chad (League City, TX), and grandchildren Kurtis (West Liberty), Shania (Coralville) and Elena (League city, TX).

Bernard J. Gill, 89, of Sun City West AZ, (formerly of Chicago IL), passed from this life on February 15, 2024. Loving husband of Nancy for 20 years. Bernie then met Ruth thru their church and spent the remainder of their lives together. Father of four, Stepfather of six, Grandfather of 22, Great Grandfather of 11, Uncle to many beloved nieces and nephews as well.  Not long after they married, Bernie and Ruth relocated from the frigid Chicago winters to AZ, where they lived for many happy, fun filled years in Sun City West. Bernie always referred to AZ as 'Paradise'. Bernie was a very generous man, contributing to many charitable organizations such as National breast cancer, St Jude's Children's Hospital, St Mary food bank, the Sisters of St Francis, and many others. He was also generous in constantly giving to those around him… from $2 Bills to children he would see in restaurants, to Flag label pins, mini flashlights and so many other thoughtful trinkets.  It brought him Joy to give to others!  He was also an avid golfer and was a longtime member at Rolling Green in Illinois and then Briarwood Country Club in Arizona. Lastly, he loved to sing, entertain and go out to dinner with family and friends.  He and Ruth participated in many performances and parties out in Sun City West, and he enjoyed every single one of them. SUN CITY, AZ - Jerry Beal, 61, of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Wellsville, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024.He was born March 14, 1962, the son of the late Harvey L. McSwain and the late Nellie R. (Beal) Huff. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis Beal, Naomi and Edward Murphy, Jack McSwain, and Cora McSwain. He was also preceded in death by five siblings: Gwendolyn Huff, Lula Mae Beal, Cora Beal, Arnetta J. Beal, and Harvey Lee McSwain.Survivors include his daughter, Ariel Beal of Joliet, IL; one grandson, Colby Love Beal; six siblings: Dallas (Christine) Beal of Wellsville, Vanessa (Charles) Patrick of Washington DC, Jack (Angelique) Beal of Calumet City, IL, Joseph Beale of Phoenix, AZ, Chester L. Beal, Sr. of Sun City, AZ, and George Huff, Jr. of Columbus, OH. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville, with Eddie Mae Murphy officiating.
